I disagree, social media has become an integral part of our lives and is absolutely necessary, as it has replaced essential parts of society: linkedin is needed to get jobs, facebook to connect to old family members, twitter to vent (IMPOSTOR ALERT), instagram to brag to people your age you'll never meet again, snapchat to do the same but leave no traces, tiktok to showcase your dumbness to not just your small circle but to the world etc.
I just wish we never reached this point.

the tech news were a thing back in the olden NCIX days. In the lore of Riley Murdoch (lets call it the Rilore) he was adopted by the tech news as a cub in the forest before he started working at NCIX.
He would then start hosting netlinked daily to feel a bit like home. When NCIX put the key under the door, the forest in which the tech news raised Riley didn't exist anymore, because the fires of social medias had spread and he was all alone.
He found refuge in a dumpster bin until Linus found him and offered him a second-second life.
Also, there is no George Washington bridge in Canada, that's just silly.
it still makes sense: he was raised by the tech news in the forest, then he came out and started giving out tech news at ncix, then ncix jumped into the dumpster and took him with them, until finally linus recovers riley from the dumpster to keep giving away tech news

Got in Bing Beta. As a chat program it sucks major BUT it works great as a search engine or asking basic Q&A questions. You can narrow your questions based on the information you get.

Yes the chat is worse than ChatGPT, and I am usually looking for very precise information that I can find better form the results, but it has some uses, also it gets confused with dates after 2021. But I am sure that they will iron it out.
It's one thing to pay for extra/bonus services but it's an entirely different thing if that service is still going to double dip, like you can guarantee that FB/Meta isn't going to stop collecting and selling all your data just because you pay them for verification. Pick one or the other they can't have both.

I had a dog that passed 20 months ago, i did not think i would get a new friend again. But a few days ago i learned a 3 year old Staffordshire bullterrier needed a new home. So now i have a little girl here that brightens my days. But she is not much of a fan of your dogs yet, she growls at them but since i love watching your videos she will have to get used to it. If i had the knowledge and resources i wish i could help dogs in the way you do.

What annoys me is that there was a chrome extension that did exactly that called suspender that I used for years but they removed it from the chrome web store. After that point I switched back to firefox because it was still available there. I was tired of using upwards of 10 gigs of RAM just on a web browser.

Yup, opera has had it since around 2012 i think, along with data saver mode on mobile
It's been in chrome based browsers for a while (and chromium itself), this just standardizes it (for every browser to go and fork again)

SMS cost money, it makes perfect sense they’d use it only for paid participants. Anyone should still be able to use an authentication app.
Realistically though, they don't cost any money. They are under 1kb, so really, their msrp should be zero. The only reason SMS aren't free, is that mobile providers are all 100% not willing to give up this revenue stream.

I think Twitter allowing SMS for Twitter Blue is meant to provide legacy support for people who don't have/use a smart phone. Unfortunately, they did an extremely poor job explaining their reasoning behind the change, so now everyone thinks it's just them locking a random feature behind a paywall.

Chrome's memory thing is awful! It's not a "snooze" thing at all, it straight up eradicates the tab's content, keeping only the tab as a reference point, when you click it reloads the page, defeating the purpose of keeping tabs open in the first place. I hate it.

You know how you can tell a subscription service is purely made out of greed? When something like a verification is a monthly sub fee, it's a scam. A verification should be a flat cost and that's it. Does Elon Musk stop being a famous person if his subscription runs out? No, not how life works. I hate this timeline... I want to go back to the early 2000s, when Bionicle was a thing.
