    Incredible channel! Most of the time it's hard to find even one good comparison between two lenses I'm interested in. This channel has freaking 3 way comparisons and all 3 sets of lenses I'm looking into: Sony 18-105/18-135, Sigma 18-50/Sony 16-55/Tamron 17-70, and Sony 11/Rokinon 12/Viltrox 13. So many reviewers fail to critically demonstrate the optical differences between lenses but the optical comparisons here are actually very useful. I really appreciate the corner sharpness/astrophotography/FOV comparisons and that you get to the point with all the important info, without cringy intros and cheesy music/transitions. Subscribed.

    Very informative, thanks! The quality of this new Vitrox is a big surprise for me since I had the opportunity to test the 56mm and wasn't really overwhelmed with the sharpness and more so with the chroma aberration which was one of the worst I have ever experienced on a lens.

    I'm totally hooked for the Sony 11mm. I already ordered one to replace my Sigma 16mm and the manual Samyang 12mm. Then I realised that I only took 100 real wide angle pics within four years, so I cancelled my order and currently I'm selling off the Sigma 16mm and stick with the Samyang. So Arthur, your videos are teasing and eye-opening at the same time!

    Thank you, Arthur R! Excellent comparison review. I've been waiting for this. Your presentation is impeccable as always.
    Like you, I have been waiting for UWA AF lenses like this for APS-C for a long time. Tough choice:
    Viltrox, 13 = great quality, great price, but big and less wide.
    Sony 11 = nice and wide, great quality optics, but relatively expensive.
    Samyang 12 = a bit off image-wise, but small and a great value.

    So excited to watch this video. If you’re open to suggestions, I’d love to see how the 11mm on an APS-C compares to a 16mm lens on an A7C, or some other full frame camera. It seems to me like the 11mm might enable APS-C shooters to really mimic the wide angle of the full frame! Again. Thanks for the video!

      I'm using a Sony 10-18 f4 on my full frame a7c and it's worked fine, but I'm so curious how it (or one of these) would compare to an actual wide angle designed for full frame.

    Size/weight and quality matters for APSC travel kit. Hence it's Sony 11mm for me. If size and weight are not considered, I'll bring my a7RIII setup instead. Hence my choice for APSC lens take size and weight into consideration.

  • @user-fz9go8pj4t

    I think the Sony is really the ultimate winner out of these 3 lenses. As we all have seen in the review, the Rokinon is really not in the excellent league of the other two lenses, though it's lighter and much cheaper than the other two. The Viltrox is a very good lense,but if someone goes for professional product,food or real estate photography, the extra 2 millimetres wider angle on the Sony is extremely important. Yes,the Sony is a most expensive of these 3 lenses, but you can expect that from the native brand with the G quality.... Thank you very much dear Arthur

    Hello Arthur, I purchased the Viltrox 13mm f1.4 lens for Sony, tested it on both my Sony a6500 + Sony A7c and found a bug that I believe is the result of faulty quality control:
    I normally set my cameras to Aperture Priority.
    The lens aperture ring is set to A.
    I turn the camera on and the camera defaults to f/2.0 instead of f/1.4
    when I turn the aperture ring on the lens back to A, it goes again to f/2.0.
    of course I can turn the ring manually to f/14 - but it seems like a bug that could be fixed with firmware update.
    I contacted VILTROX several times via email and messenger and they either ignored me or brushed me aside.
    I also asked this question in the relevant DP forum, but nobody was familiar with this bug.
    potential buyers ought to know this.

    I already have the sigma 16 1.4, so the Sony 11's my choice. The difference between 16 and 13 just isn't enough, and the laowa 9mm has too many imperfections, so the Sony is a good balance between optical quality and field of view.

    I'm not sure how much I care about the focal length difference, but considering the daily carry bag I want (peak design everyday sling 3L), going with the sony might let me stuff my sigma 18-50, 56mm, and 11mm in the bag. The Viltrox would for sure just be one extra lens in the bag.

    Looking to get a wide angle for landscapes and astrophotography. I'm a casual photographer but really want to open my horizon on an upcoming winter road trip through Utah. I was all set to grab the Rokinon after watching this as the quality for the cost seemed to be pretty amazing. Prices are apparently not what they were a few months ago.
    Rokinon 12 - $379
    Viltrox 13 - $429
    Sony 11 - $498
    At these prices, the Sony absolutely seems worth it for only $120 more than the Rokinon, but $500 is still a lot for me to spend on a lens. Are camera lenses something that tend to drop in price for the holidays? Is the Rokinon worth it at this price point?
    For anyone who has purchased any of these lenses, would you still make the same choice with these prices? Any thoughts or recommendations would be great.

    No OSS for all 3 lenses ! A real bummer. If you have a non-IBIS camera you are forced to use a gimbal for video.

    • @Sebartus
      @Sebartus Před 2 lety +3

      You can use gyro stabilization ( gimbal style stabilization ) with Catalyst Browse in Sony ZV-E10, α7C, α7 IV, α7S III. Even if this lens had stabilization it would still be too weak for video. The stabilization in the lens is mainly for photography for good qality video you always need gimal for example Zhiyun Crane M3 or M2S.

    • @Burzcasts
      @Burzcasts Před 2 lety

      @@Sebartus Catalyst Browse sucks. It takes one big process more plus you have to keep your shutter high for it to work properly. Plus there is a crop. Gimbal it is for video. There is no other good solution.

    Of those 3 I would get the Sony 11mm 1.8, the Viltrox are too big and heavy (stupid on a APSC Camera !) and with longer focal length, I do not trust chinese made products ! That said I will not get any of those, I will get the Sony 15mm 1.4 G Lens !
