  • In this video, my roommate and I will be rewatching the great Jaws from 1975. It's a great 4th of July movie, and we wanted to rewatch this and have a great discussion and review of this all-time classic!
    ABOUT
    Directed by Academy Award® winner Steven Spielberg, Jaws set the standard for edge-of-your-seat suspense, quickly becoming a cultural phenomenon and forever changing the movie industry. When the seaside community of Amity finds itself under attack by a dangerous great white shark, the town’s chief of police (Roy Scheider), a young marine biologist (Richard Dreyfuss) and a grizzled shark hunter (Robert Shaw) embark on a desperate quest to destroy the beast before it strikes again. Featuring an unforgettable score that evokes pure terror, Jaws remains one of the most influential and gripping adventures in motion picture history.

    I always marvel that as per Carl Gottlieb (one of the screenwriters) , Robert Shaw (Quint) actually wrote the version of the Indianapolis monologue that appears in the picture. No question to me it's one of the best monologues ever put on film.
    Got a big smile from: Bad shark, go home! Thanks. 😁

    In the famous jump scare featuring Ben Gardner Steven Spielberg wanted that scare added to the movie. He spent money preparing the scene. Ben Gardner''s corpse was supposed to be there at the bottom of the boat. Steven Spielberg the genius, made into a jump scare. It was filmed in a swimming pool.

    • @darthroden
      @darthroden Před 11 měsíci +1

      My mother was actually pregnant with me when she went to see this in the theater. Said that everyone jumped when Ben Gardner's head popped out of the hole. One woman even got hysterical. It was an amazing jump scare back when horror and suspense films made them count and not as a cliche that it is today.

      Years ago Cartoon Network had these little short cartoons they played between shows. A series of about 5 of them featured The Wonder Twins from the old Batman and Super Friends cartoons. The girl can turn into animals and the boy can turn into any form of water.
      Well this particular short cartoon contained a Jaws reference. I thought I'd bring it to youz guyses attention if you were interested. Think it's maybe 2 minutes long? I'm not sure.

    Also as much as I love this movie. Sadly it put a lot of fear into people about Sharks and there behavior which is not true. This movie mostly got everything wrong with how sharks behave and put more fear into people to hunt them.

      I had a feeling that was the case. The fact that this shark was active and present in July says it was a special case and not your normal shark.

      Well now.
      1. People were already scared of sharks.
      2. The rogue shark theory was scientific reasoning at the time. First postulated by Dr Victor Coppelson in Australia in the 1950s.
      3. We know much more about sharks today BECAUSE of Jaws. It initiated a mass boom in interest, which lead to our current knowledge and understanding.
      4. Blame people for acting the way they did after. Jaws never claimed it was true.
      5. Quite a lot of Jaws is somewhat accurate. Such events have happened. Jaws just exaggerated it.

  • @grimreaper-qh2zn
    @grimreaper-qh2zn Před rokem +1

    Most Shark attacks happen in loess than 3 feet of water. The explosion of the SCUBA tank is very unlikely. The “explosion” that takes place from scuba tanks is due to the instantaneous release of so much pressurized air, creating a high speed and dangerous projectile that will cause chaos to anything in its surrounding area. If this exploding take were to come into contact with flammable items, then a traditional explosion could take place.
    But even that’s unlikely. This would be what happened if the scene in Jaws was scientifically accurate. But that’s not as entertaining as what was put on film.
