    I have an old white mulberry tree that fell over in a storm but is still alive. My chickens love to roost in it and eat the berries every summer. I didn’t realize until hearing the story about the congressman’s wife that mulberry leaf was even used medicinally, but now that I know I feel so blessed to have this additional ally close by. I believe the official cause of her death was dehydration, and it would be extremely difficult to attribute the cause of that to an herb.

      I think when people realize we're more than a set of symptoms, and that all parts of our being (mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical) are attended to, our health comes together and our bodies have a much better chance of attaining balance. And you can't do this with most man-created drugs.

    The Mulberry tree, mainly the _White Mulberry_ has been used by humans since ancient times. It was a main driver in the Silk Road, used to cultivate silkworms for the production of silk, but also used for it's fruit and leaf's for human consumption and it's amazing medicinal benefits.
    It was first introduced to the U.S. in colonial times for the same health and food benefits used in Ancient China, and also due to the plants ruggedness and ability to grow in disturbed, salty/sandy soil.
    I have two large trees near my home in MA. I've been tempted to propagate some but due to the Mulberry being considered an invasive species I've decided against doing such. I just use what i can from these two trees. Trying to beat the small birds to the fruit once ripened has always proved difficult😅. Checked this morning and the berries are beginning to turn from green to white.
    Important side note: *The unripened berries are toxic to humans due to their latex content. Only consume ripe Mulberries. Also, in one study out of Penn State University, they found that the trees bark was shown to have negative health ramifications to humans with regular exposure. Such as nausea, dehydration, digestive issues, dizziness and fatigue. This study didn't single out exactly what substance(s) within the bark was the caused for these symptoms.*

      See, now (I am not an herbalist expert by any means) in Chinese culture they use the unripe berries, the root, the twigs, and the parasite infested bark ...but harvested at different times for different reasons. A lot of times I find that a lot of things that the states, big pharma etc. Tell us are harmful are more than likely the opposite. Just like when they ran a study on ivermectin being bad for us, but didn't share that the study was done ON HIGH DOSES of ivermectin. Idk. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

    Hi Heidi, I just found your channel.
    I was curious, are there any herbs you’d recommend for their anti-inflammatory or antioxidant effects?
    And on the flip side, are there any herbs out there people take that you would deem to be potentially unsafe or plain useless?

    • @expansefloating4096
      @expansefloating4096 Před 2 měsíci

      When I say dangerous herbs, I mean ones that are on the market to be taken as a supplement and promoted to be used… when really they are not very safe, have a lot of risk factors, or dont have much actual science and evidence behind its claims.

      Yes, I used to open the private (off social media) platform for everyone, but I had SO much spam, trash talking, and community rule breaking---it became just like FB. I decided to make that platform for only students of Ditch the Drugstore and the Confident Herbalist Tribe because I dig in deeply and provide a LOT of support for their herbal and essential oil path. I do have a private herbal/essential oil Facebook group called Practical Herbs and Oils with Heidi....but to be honest, I'm not there much. Facebook is a free-for-all, and you canNOT trust the random information there. I do my best to monitor that group, and I have a lot of helpers, but it doesn't matter. I would love to have you join our student community sometime. It's amazing! Kind, respectful, supportive, extremely knowledgeable, searchable, and open about many kinds of health needs and other issues. Best---it's private.

    One of my very close and dear friends owned a health food store. Was on top of everything out there natural. Shockingly to all who knew her, she decided to have a facelift. And then died from MRSA. I trusted NOW brand products for years, however, there was a video someone put out showing one of their products melting styrofoam or something, so unfortunately it has made me not trust them anymore.

    • @HeidiVillegas
      @HeidiVillegas  Před rokem +2

      Hi, Juli! Wow. That's just scary! As far as the NOW products, I'm wondering if it could have been one of their essential oils? Certain essential oils, even (and maybe especially) high quality ones can melt styrofoam and sometimes even plastics! This is why essential oils need to be used with a lot of knowledge...and not knowledge from an essential oil distributor unless they're certified level 2 with NAHA or AIA.
