I've watched this before and I noticed that your rose oil is darker than mine. Did you have cinnamon chips in your half gallon as well?
Thanks for sharing! Great chat!
Yes please, I would love a PDF
I just had a c section can I use this on it
Not really here for soap making but actually my own surfactant for washing houses. So I want a cherry that some manufacturers use in their products. Would they be using fragrance oil or essential? It needs to wash off easily and not stain.
Thank you so much, the best video about digestive bitters, I have been searching for a while. Bitters are not common in our culture, but I like them, and I will start doing your great recipe. Thank you again for your very helpful information and very precise details. Khalid, Saudi Arabia
omg, I just love your classes. I am so hooked!
I heard it was great for ridding the kidney of kidney stones.
Hi how long for this to get to cream stage please ?..thank you
Lovely video, thank you! I make alot of salves and body butters, we grow an extensive garden and expanding more and more with herbs and tinctures. Lemon balm is my favorite, oh the smell is just so so divine! One thing I was wondering, I usually just see people using leaves only. It seems you are chopping stems and all and adding. Is there any benefit to the stem as well besides making it so much easier on our gathering and chopping?haha
What a wonderful foot soak! How much of the finished essential oils do you add to the foot bath? Thank you Heidi!
We’ve had a freeze dryer for a couple of months (after wanting one for many years). I was wondering if freeze drying would be a good alternative to trying to keep one alive all winter inside? We live in Zone 7A., SW Missouri. Thank you in advance.
Hi, Judi! In zone 7A, great news! Your rosemary should grow just fine all winter long. It will go dormant, but unless you're in a very cold micro-climate, it should make it through winter.
Since freeze drying retains about 95% of the nutrients, could you freeze dry the lemon balm to use in this recipe?
I believe you sure could!
Thank you for this wonderful video! I have horses, dogs, cats, chickens. As I learn more about human herbal remedies, I keep wondering how I might also learn about veterinary herbs. Thanks! You do a great job teaching with these high-quality videos. I'm new as of yesterday, and so happy that you popped up here so I was aware that you existed!
Hey! Thanks for the comment, and welcome to the community!
@@HeidiVillegas You're welcome! Happy to be here!
Are oil infusions just as potent ? Or tincture is best?
Oil infusions are usually for topical use, and tinctures can be used for both. :-)
Since you don't drink vodka did you know you can make herbal mouthwash as a tea.? Personally I'd make Bloody Mary's with the vodka.
Yes, strong tea makes a great mouth wash, too! Bloody Mary's have some great herbs in them...🥰 Thanks for the comment, and glad you're here!
Thank you for your insights. Do you have a video on how to make a myrrh oil? Thanks again!😊
I have one for frankincense oil, and the process will be similar: czcams.com/video/FfIbgpp9Dt4/video.html
@HeidiVillegas ok thanks 😊
Hello, you mention Aromatics International in a brand you use but when I contacted them to ask which farms they work with they could not answer this only that they " Purchase our essential oils, hydrosols and carrier oils from producers all over the world..." Do you have any more information based on your own research and interactions with the brand? I am starting my business and want to make sure I am obtaining 100% pure and safe EO for my customers and family. Thank you in advance!
Absolutely! Andrea Butje who is the previous owner of the company, made it a point to in-person get to know the small farmers and distillers, beginning around 35 years ago. As her company grew, she brought Karen Williams on, and she took up the responsibility of vetting the small farms. Karen now owns Aromatics International, and the quality continues to be exceptional. I love having some favorite companies I can truly trust to turn to, and @AromaticsInternational is absolutely one of these. To sell the wide number of essential oils they have means they've got to develop a relationship with a LOT of small farms, OR do what most do....and this is the very dangerous and unsavory practice of purchasing from bulk distributors. The person you spoke with may not have been able to tell you about all the farms, but I think in the case of Aromatics International, they've been vetting farms and selling essential oils for so long, they're very trustworthy. Other newer essential oil sellers----I'd be VERY leery. Here's a list of companies I trust: healingharvesthomestead.com/valuable-resources
Thanks for sharing this ❤👍
My pleasure 😊
I've used a tincture of the roots, but never the rest of the plant. My home in the same way with all even remotely flat surfaces. If not plants drying, then potted plants or basketry supplies. Or my son's hoarded Christmas ornaments🤔
It sounds like a great place!
This is awesome! Thank you!
You're so very welcome!
When you add nettle, are you using stinging nettle or dead purple nettle?
Stinging nettle. Purple dead nettle isn't a true nettle---that's just it's common name. :-)
@@HeidiVillegas Thank you, Heidi! I’m learning so much from you!
I'd love to hear what you have to say about menapause support! :)
Oh, boy....Do I have a LOT to say!
Send me a bottle 😁👍🏻
It's good stuff!
Thank you for sharing! Question… could you or would you suggest using castor oil in this product instead of olive oil?
If you use castor oil, I would cut some in with the olive oil as it's pretty viscous
Would you also make this with Caster oil??
You could cut a bit into the olive oil, but I wouldn't use all castor oil as it won't extract as many of the plant constituents.
Is the oil you made to be ingested, or is it just for external use? If you can’t say, I understand. I’m just trying to understand if I should purchase some resin from Etsy to make an extract, as I have Crohn’s disease and osteoarthritis and I want to get off the biologic injections my Dr has me on. Thanks.😊
No, this is for topical use. Some people do tincture the resin though...do some research on this and be careful.
@HeidiVillegas ok thanks so much!
Do essential oils degrade over time?
Yes, they do. Depending on the essential oil, they have different shelf lives. The citrus and the evergreens have the shortest shelf lives, while the resins seem to last for up to 7-10 years....and then in the case of patchouli, indefinitely.
I used the leftover resin that wouldn’t dissolve as a exfoliating facial scrub ❤ the oil also turned out wonderful 🤩🥳
What a great idea!
Hello, Heidi. I’ve been interested in herbs for a long time, and love the “natural” way of doing things. I truly believe God gave us plants and herbs for our health. However, I’ve just recently started growing my own herbs and am really wanting to learn all I can. I just found you on CZcams and have purchased your school course. One of the main reasons I love your teaching is that you come from a Christian perspective. I have a question…I have a condition that makes my mouth ultra-sensitive to capsaicin. It’s extremely painful for me to eat. I’m wondering if I could use cayenne in capsule form to reap the benefits? I have a capsule maker and a source for organic cayenne peppers. (I’m going to grow my own next year.). I’ve been freeze drying them and making powder to create a salve for my husband to use on his arthritic knees. I’m hoping you can give me some guidance, please.
Absolutely, you can encapsulate the powder! Thank you so very much for taking one of our courses! If you're not in Ditch the Drugstore/Family Herbalist program, that might be a great next step for you! If you are, maybe I'll see you in one of our live Question/Answer sessions!
I was so thankful I found your article. None of my doctors have found anything that can help me sleep. The month of July up until Sunday.I've been either in the Hospital or local rehab. My magnesium and potassium both crashed I also had a severe UTI and a little pneumonia. I'm. Really starting to research more and more herbal remedies and have been on a few for several years. My messages go a little off for some reason.. Hope this is understandable.
I'm so sorry for your health issues. Sleep can be tricky for some people. There are many things you can do to get a restful sleep, and herbs/essential oils can be so helpful.
Thank you for providing us with all the information. Love your channel!. I'm new to harvesting and herbs. May I ask you a question about camomile? I finally found some in my area. The flowers look past their prime, but could I use the center part anyway? If not, I can save for seed for my garden next yr. Thank you
Yes, but just be sure it's truly chamomile, as there are several "lookalikes," like ox-eye daisy---and it's got a very unpleasant taste/smell and different actions on the body than chamomile.
Thanks for the recommendation, i'll be getting German Camomile for the night pain
I hope it's helpful!
Thanks for sharing...... I have a question?????? Do we not have to rinse off the herb first?????
It depends on where and how it's grown. If it's in an area where pets or wild animals are...absolutely. If it's been sprayed with anything at all...yes. But if it's protected and not in a dirty or dusty environment, not necessarily.
@@HeidiVillegas thank you so much for your help...
Thanks for sharing. I have a question????? Once I harvest my herbs (peppermint), does it need to be "rinsed" off if grown organically and if so how well does it need to be dried off before putting in jar and adding vodka????? THANKS Heidi....
I'm curious about the amount of water. Could one add less water thereby reducing the amount of cook-time needed for reduction? Or is that cook-time needed to extract the beneficial properties? Thank you!
You do want a bit of cook time for extraction. :-)
Can you use a combination of epsom salts and himolyain salt
Absolutely! This is such a great and easy little bit of self care.
North missouri, so many berries, so little time, lolol, great videos, thank u always
You're so blessed to have a bounty!!! Nice!
Thank you !! so much for sharing your herbal tea recipe for “gout “, I’ve been looking for one for a long time. I will definitely give it a try . 💞🙏I would love to get your book 📖
I hope it's helpful for you! You can get the book inside my Art and Science of Herbal Tea course, OR it's FREE (with the course too) inside our herbal membership, the Confident Herbalist Tribe for a very low price. We're getting ready to raise prices due to increased expenses as our school grows, so it's a great time to get in if you're interested in excellent herbal education! healingharvesthomestead.lpages.co/kaj-confident-herbalist-tribe-sp/
You did an excellent job with this video. Great work! Keep doing your thing!
Oh, thank you so very much! I appreciate you!
Thank you just made some. Couldn’t find raspberry seed oil but have cranberry and rose hip oils. Can i add a few drops of patchouli to it ?
Yes, you can---just be sure to stay with a 1% dilution for the face, or even less.
So do you recommend the tribe or herbalism course? I have a apothecary but I want to learn it all
Hi, Jenn! If you already have a natural apothecary, know a bit about formulation, and herbal medicine making methods, then you might feel most comfortable in the Confident Herbalist Tribe. It's for beginners, intermediate, and we have advanced practitioners too. We're definitely more heavy on intermediate levels, and we focus on formulation, energetics, and learning deeply about the plants so we can work with them for individual's needs.
❤
Thank you!
Great chat!
Thank you!
What a really great video on making a lemon balm tincture!!
Thank you so much!
😅😅😅 Cute story.
It really is, LOL!
