Marvel's Spider-Man is a 2018 action-adventure game developed by Insomniac Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. Based on the Marvel Comics superhero Spider-Man, it is inspired by the long-running comic book mythology and adaptations in other media. In the main storyline, the super-human crime lord Mister Negative orchestrates a plot to seize control of New York City's criminal underworld. When Mister Negative threatens to release a deadly virus, Spider-Man must confront him and protect the city while dealing with the personal problems of his civilian persona, Peter Parker.

@@coffeeveins fighting aunt May is tricky, to be honest. She doesn't have much health, but every time you hit her, Peter just screams, runs to the other side of the room and smacks himself for half the damage you dealt.
Also there's a ton of people chasing you and trying to hold you down and when they touch you, your health goes low
Good thing is that when you finally kill her, you earn the "monster" outfit, which is Peter dressing up with her aunt's skin, and the game allows you to go on a serial killer rampage that ends with half of New York desolate and the remaining people living in a post-apocalyptic society, crippled by the fear of the deranged Spider Man

It was Yuri's astonishing acting that got me. The way his voice started breaking and his hard crying at the end.. It broke me. Haven't cried that hard at the ending for a game in a long time.

Yuri nailed this line. The way Peter’s voice is so serious and soft compared to everything else he says makes this line so incredibly desperate and haunting. The severity of the situation is so expertly conveyed through how toned down he speaks that it gives me chills every time.

Why is this the best Spider-Man ever? Responsibility! He made that sacrifice so the people he swore to protect may live. While we’re all going to miss Aunt May, it was the right call to move on. That’s what true strength is and Insomniac knew that since they themselves love Spider-Man as much as the fans do.
Yeah, this probably the first time I thought that the theme of Responsibility took center stage. None of the movies got it this right and TAS2 got it as wrong it could get.
Funny how this game did better than like 10 years of comics. :D

For anyone who was wondering, Marz reacted so strongly to the scene of Doc Oct talking about his "useless body" because her father has/had ALS.
I didn’t know that. I can’t say I understand what it’s like to go through that kind of grief but I imagine it’s hard.

Doc Oc's connection to Peter was refreshingly deep and entangled. What an amazing villain. Disney/Marvel could learn a thing or two from this game.

I felt very sad for Otto because he has no one for him, I know he's a villain and caused aunt may's death but, have your part of the projects of your life being stolen by your own friend/partner is so painful, and losing your only friend/apprentice for a huge mistake you did and in a couple of months lose the functions of your body is so sad. And aunt May scene made me feel like I was losing someone close to me, like since I was young I've loved and I still love spider-man in a way that aunt May is special to me just like uncle Ben. For these reasons i think this game is Perfect.
You can really feel the moral decision Peter had to make. He wanted to save Aunt May but doing so would condemn million of people to death. Once again being a super hero you always have to make the toughest choice and those choices are not happy ones. To Peter even though he saved million of people and it was a victory for the superhero Spiderman it was not a victory for the human being Peter Parker who lost his only relative. Why did this game make me cry.

And this is why this game deserves the "best spider-man story" title out of all the movies and video games. It shows the hard choices Peter has to make, and no one knows about it except for a few people.
Also it shows why Spider-Man is everyone’s favorite hero and the most relatable. Even when he wins, he still loses.
Of course it’s Spider-Man of all people that has to choose between his true mother, and the entire freaking city
If JJ knew what Peter had to sacrifice to save the city, I guarantee you he’d never say shit about Spider-Man again.

@@x-fayad-x8828 Joel's death made a lot of sense. Abby killed him because he killed her father at the end of the first game so she was getting revenge. I guess most people never played past Joel's death in Part 2 so they never got to hear her side of the story.

Literally, lee died and nobody hated it, but joels death just feels out of place, random, not justified from the perspective of Joel and made for the simple reason of shock. Also, as a whole, tlou2 has lazy writing, thats why you see many people explaining what happenned, doesnt have an identity at all, only graphics, and, this cant be denied, isnt a game. The definition of a game is meant to be fun and other terms, but tlou2 violates this term, so its not a game. Its a story, a shitty story, but a story.

When I first played this game and after the final battle I said to myself holding back tears "I never thought I'd actually get emotional playing a video game!" That's what makes this Spider-Man game one to remember.

I really wished Martin Li was able to be there for Aunt May’s funeral..
Martin Li would definitely be hurt knowing May died… I’m so glad how clear the game makes it that Martin is both extremities of one’s humanity. His anger and negativity fuel Mister Negative, but the Martin Li who started and supported F.E.A.S.T is also the real Martin. His letter to May was so heartbreaking to read. He was honest and he really loved May for who she was and all that she did, but he couldn’t set his anger and pain aside to live the life he could have as the image of the billionaire philanthropist.
Ngl I literally cried when aunt may died. That just goes to show that being a hero isn't always going to be fun and games.

I love that there wasn't a choice at the end, because there never was a choice for Peter. He's a symbol for what is right and just more than any other hero. May putting Pete first by not telling him that she knew reminded him of what it means to be that hero, and that neither his duty nor debt to the city made him choose, but his love for people and giving May the noble death she deserved. I love this character so much man
After getting the PS5 this Christmas and playing Spider-Man PS4 remastered, and watching a video of the ending with the new face model prior to that, I can say without a doubt that the old face model for Peter is way more expressive than this new one they have. Especially the ending fight with Doc Ock and Aunt May’s death.
No wonder why the new face wasn't shown in the video. That face literally ruined the ending.
This is the game about NY's greatest hero... And her nephew, who has grown to be just like her.

3:40 - I will never forget the first time I got to this scene. Peter's reaction gets me every fucking time. It's like he couldn't believe that Ock knew all along, and then it hit him, Ock knew all along and still did what he did. The story coming full circle in that regard is such good storytelling.

Yuri Lowenthal is definitely one of if not my favorite Peter Parker and Spider-Man. He really put a lot of character and emotion into the character.
I loved how we got to grow to like Otto just to make his fall from grace hurt that much more and even when he's getting thrown in prison I still felt bad. You just wish that him and Peter had more time to get it right, but we all knew from the start what was going to happen.
It’s that scene with aunt May that showcases why SpiderMan is one of the best heroes out there. They show his human moments so much more. They show that beneath that suit is a man who has lost so much and has had to sacrifice so much for the sake of others. This is why SpiderMan will always be one of if not the best superheroes ever.

I'm 38, just played this first time about two months ago, and had to explain to my 5yo son "why daddy is crying so badly" when Aunt May's monitor went flatline.
When he came and gave me a big hug, and saw a tear in HIS eye, I knew I was raising my boy right:)

I've played through this game 5 times, and each time the ending makes me cry. Even watching this got me. Sorry Breath of the Wild, I think this is my game of the generation.

I’ve seen this scene so many times….. it still hurts every time I see it.
Everyone says batman has the darkest past, but peter is alone. He has no one. His whole family is gone. He probably the most alone and depressed person ever yet he keeps saving people. *that* is a hero, someone who against all odds, no matter what they’ve lost, continues saving people even though he was never able to save those closest to him.
Don't mistake me for a batman fanboy (I actually like both spiderman and Batman), all of what you said can also be applied to Batman. Both of them had lost their family and sometimes failed to save them but continue to fight.

I don't know if anyone else noticed this, but the moment Peter was thinking about giving Aunt May the serum, his face was covered by the shadow. When he decides not to give her the serum and steps away, the light shines on his face once again. Not sure if there is any hidden meaning behind it, but if it was, then it is a very nice touch.

I think this really hit hard because Spidey is always so positive and with a joke ready for any moment. He was created to be always kind of motivational, to represent that strength to do the right thing but at a “everyday person” level. So to hear him break, really makes you understand how much this hits him, so it hits us directly as well.
