    That hack squat set-up is an incredible idea - could be slightly changed for standing calf raises too. So many great programs (like most of John Meadows’ stuff) require hack squat, leg press, leg extensions, and hamstring curls. You’ve pretty much given us a solution for each.

    • @MattPendergraph
      @MattPendergraph  Před 2 lety +1

      Absolutely! I was actually going to make a separate video showing how to assemble each set up/what all is needed as well. Obviously you'll need the lever arms, two leg rollers, a weight horn (I used the weight horn that was included with my articulating handles on the leg extension and just a regular monster weight pin for the leg curl. You can use either or for either set up). For the leg extension set up, I used spotter arms and the rogue utility seat to sit on. For the leg extension, I used a Rogue flip down safety to stand on.

    • @MattPendergraph
      @MattPendergraph  Před 2 lety

      Oh yes! So many options outside the normal/common uses (these things are expensive, therefore I'm trying to find every possible use for them LOL). I personally don't find them to be too much of a hassle to set them up (I use hitch pins to connect everything so the process really only takes a few minutes). Like anything, it all really depends on the person and if they're willing to make the extra time needed to set them up.

    Hey @matt pendergraph looks like you went with the shorter arms - assuming you’d recommend these over the longer ones? I imagine this is the main reason why you’re able to do so much of this stuff inside the rack, correct? If I went with the longer arms, guessing I’d have a better belt squat experience though since I’d be further away from the rack and the hinge point…?

    • @MattPendergraph
      @MattPendergraph  Před 2 lety

      Definitely prefer the shorter! Check out my short arm review if you haven't already as I explain why I went with short over the long! Also,...don't be fooled by the term "short" lol. They are 35 inches which is plenty long enough IMO for just about everything while still feeling completely natural. Hopefully that helps! Thanks for watching!

      @@MattPendergraph the one movement where I think a longer arm would be better is a belt squat. Would you agree or am I off with this assessment?

    • @MattPendergraph
      @MattPendergraph  Před 2 lety

      @@evdb7246 Depending on your setup, I would agree. The extra length would allow you to load the plates up while maintaining a good distance from the hinge point for sure. The short isn't bad though IMO. Probably boils down more to personal preference at that point.

    • @MattPendergraph

      It MIGHT line up correctly, however I see no value in adding one as it isn't necessary to perform leg extensions (or at least I've never found downward pressure above the knee/on the thighs to be needed anyways)
