    • @MrPainwind
      @MrPainwind Před 8 měsíci +13

      @eadlirez If I recall it right. The Link of Twilight Princess is sporadically trained by a Ghost/spirit (Hero's Shade) that can turn into a light/golden wolf. In his final training with Link, the Hero's Shade states that and then calls him "my child" before leaving.
      So it's heavily implied that the Hero's shade is the Hero of Time of Ocarina of Time/Majora's Masks after he was sent back to the past by Zelda. (I think even the spirit of Light refers to him as The legendary Hero).
      However, the Theory is that no one, apart from the spirit, remembers that he was the Hero of Time. In the Castle graveyard of Twilight Princess, the player can find a tomb stating that the "Cursed Swordsman rests beneath the sacred tree" implying that whoever this tomb was for didn't have a great life or at least a good end.
      Why, how? Is the Hero's Shade truly the Link of OOT/MM? who knows? But the theory is there. Has Mido become that weird puppet master? So many questions and no answer =(

    This song is like a compilation of all the others. There's references to almost all the other songs on the album.
    "Called you the hero of our time." = Hero of our time, Far Away, & Lullaby(says "Hero of our time")
    "You're just a thief, took what is mine." = Hands of a Thief
    "The same old boy, the same old house.", "So tell me boy," & "And until then," = Same Old Forrest("So tell me boy..." can be heard at 3:00, and "And until then..." can be heard at 3:15)
    "My praises you will..." & the instrumental itself = Shell
    "Now I don't mean to alarm you,..." = Time To Go
    "You heed the ever sounding call,..." = Twisted ("You heed the ever sounding calling.")
    Drowning & Grounded are ones I can't seem to find a reference to.

    I was hoping there would be a bigger mention of Ganon's motive for taking Hyrule. I mean other than being power hungry. Wind Waker reveals that the reason he choose Hyrule of all kingdoms to conquer was because of it's wind. The wind that howled in the desert, be it hot or cold, brought only death. However the gentle breeze across the plains of Hyrule was kind to everyone. In his own words he "coveted that wind".

      Notably he never uses his desire for the wind as an excuse. He wanted the gentle winds of Hyrule so his people could have a peaceful future, however to obtain them he became evil.
      He really didn't have a choice in the matter. Demise's curse made sure of that.

      Amanda Carmen yet Wind waker ganondorf would be the least evil of all the ganondorfs that have been reincarnated, he wanted to save his kind sure he did evil things but he kinda had to as no king is gonna let some stranger take a godly power for free lol but of course he could of things the longer and harder way but that would lead to the gerudo dying while hes waiting to the triforce peacefully. Ganondorfs intention especially in WW were good but he did evil acts. Another thing to note is ganondorf could have killed WW Link and Zelda/Tetra twice or three times. Ganon let link go and the second time he hurt link but nothing to bad same with tetra or zelda he just knocked her out during that time as he saw the wisdom piece there. And then the final battle and bed scene he could of killed Zelda anytime there or in the final battle instead of idk cutting her limbs or her herself he just slaps her to the point if knockout instead of actually crippling her to the point of no battle. All ganondorf wanted in WW was the triforce to save his people from death, he had good intentions but did evil acts but he wasn’t entirely evil as the other ganondorfs

      This song is basically built of echoes to previous songs from the album.
      "The same old boy from the same old house"-- the first line from "Same Old Forest".
      "Now I don't mean to alarm you"-- "Time to Go".
      The chorus has the Gerudo Valley theme just like "Shell".
      "You heed the ever-sounding call" is a line from "Twisted".
      "Called you the hero of our time"-- Take a wild guess.
      "You're just a thief, took what is mine"-- "Hands of a Thief".
      From verse 2, "And now I need my, I need my room to fly" is another call-back to "Same Old Forest".
      And finally (other than what you pointed out), you can hear backing vocals in the last chorus sing the chorus of "Same Old Forest" in counterpoint.
      This song is amazing.

    this is a beautiful song that gives hints of Ganondorf's past and how he felt living as a king of an already fallen country. i think that the legend of zelda franchise might end when Ganondorf successfully gets all 3 of the tri-force only to lose to a chipped piece of the master sword that was left their from either the present link or one/all of the past ones

      Silver arrows are the chipped master sword while the magical sword is the depowered skyward sword.

      when you put it like that, I cannot deny that Ganondorf may have had a "just" cause if you look at it with a certain perspective, but that's it. perspective. it rules all. why do you think people root for the antihero in games/animes/books? it's because of perspective. because he's the 'main character', everything he does s right and everything done against him is 'wrong'
      going by that logic, It is perfectly possible for a game about gannondorf to come about wherewe all see gannon as protagonist and link as the big villian. (I think it would be cool if what we did was design the dungeons link had to complete)

    • @Minronis
      @Minronis Před 7 lety +57

      I think the most likely scenario is Ganondorf being Link's mentor, but turning evil and not entirely because of power; Ganondorf turns evil specifically because he knows Link is fated to one day face him, that fate will pit them against one another someday and by embracing his darkness, Ganondorf subsequently makes it easier for Link to fulfill his destiny and rise from student to master by defeating Ganondorf. Despite being fated to fight one another, in this one tale of the never ending cycle, Ganondorf defies fate by being able to see his student grow from a boy to a man, making him proud to be his teacher and denying the hatred of Demise that persists from legend to legend. Since both Link and Ganondorf use sword techniques, it isn't farfetched; it should be made that Ganondorf uses a trident until their final battle, where he switches to using the same sword he used before becoming corrupted. The dynamic between Ganondorf's will to be his own individual instead of driven by a constant cycle of death and rebirth driven by the past legends should switch once in awhile, demonstrating Ganondorf's struggles to remain himself rather then what Demise's hatred wants him to be. Might be a bit reaching though, I just think it sucks to be stuck in a cycle.

For instance, the most obvious reference to “Time to Go” in the chorus’ melody, among other references to songs in the album, but what really intrigues me is the hidden (or rather just drowned out) Link appearance near the end singing the chorus of the first song in the album, drawing on the support and love he received as a child. Very clever, mate. Very clever indeed.

    I really prefer Ganon as this character that started out as a monarch trying to provide for his people, but the nature of doing so led to what morality he had almost completely drying up. I like this song touching on Ganondorf's growing up in the Desert, as it references his development in Wind Waker as something besides "loltyrant."
    I reject the Demise reincarnation plot device. It seemed really forced in trying to establish a root for it all, when I think Ocarina of Time's political situation and the Zelda, Link, and Ganon being in the right place at the right time is the only explanation we need. The King of Hyrule was a jerk, and Ganon sought out the power of the Triforce to end the harsh life for his people. We assume Ganon showed up and just demanded the Stones in a vacuum, but why don't we imagine the various leaders were either prejudiced against the Gerudo because of a prior war, or fearful of the King's wrath (look at that Shadow Temple for all the evidence you need there are some terrible politics in History's past)? Given the possible extinction of his people, Ganondorf's extreme methods seem proportionate.
    A part of me thinks Zelda and the Deku Tree's premonitions regarding Ganon weren't so much about him being an evil person, so much as a weak one. He had plenty of reason to have anger and hatred in his heart, as much as a quest for personal glory... he is human, after all. No matter what his original intentions were, he was not ready to wield the power of the gods. What portion he received, though, was enough to corrupt him and essentially end whatever good was left in him.
    ...this would happen to just about anyone else, too.

    • @bookwiz2010
      @bookwiz2010 Před 7 lety +81

      Your argument is really good, I will give you that. But one could also argue that Demise isn't reincarnated, but more akin to a spirit of sorts. Ganondorf sought the power to save his people and was lead to Hyrule. While there, Demise could very easily have begun to influence him, inciting his anger and hatred of these people with so much wealth that eventually, he lashed out. Especially when Zelda and Link, the two Demise hates just because of his its history with the embodiment of Hylia and people in green tunics.
      So, in effect, your theory is sound. There are tons of villains throughout the series that are not Ganon, with Vaati and Majora being two off the top of my head. These two are likely also influenced by Demise, with Majora likely having been a fragment of his power sealed away or a corruption of a different power by Demise. Demise's own name implies an "end" in which case, Demise is a spirit of the end, a harbinger of destruction. What do all of these villains have in common? They bring destruction.
      This is why I believe that Demise could very well have had a strong influence in Lorule's downfall. Because the destruction of their Triforce spelled the end of Lorule without Hyrule's interference. The quest for the Triforce by Ganondorf could very well be Demise seeking the end of Hylia's power. Ganondorf just happened to be in the right place to try and take it, and was almost successful, had the goddess not thought ahead to weigh the hearts of those who touch it first.
      When it is used subsequently, it is after it has been reforged in that timeline. This includes the Child timeline, as Link still bears the mark on his hand at the end of OoT. This means that the Triforce itself is on its own linear time, and is unaffected by time travel. What was my point...ahh.
      To conclude: Ganondorf, Link, and Zelda WERE in the right place at the right time for the influences of the past to affect them, and drag them into a conflict. With the establishment of Demise's curse, the legend of Zelda series becomes a horribly sad story of those who must face against each other endlessly. You can observe this influence of Demise in particular throughout the Zelda series in the backstory of each conflict. Ganondorf was merely the first and most successful of all of Demise's own puppets, as Ganondorf as well as Ganon return subsequently to try and destroy Hyrule or control it. Numerous times.

      @thatamericannarrator8247 Před 7 lety +37

      Tanner Bates I like your opinion, but you can't just reject Zelda canon. I, for one, love the Demise plot. It kinda makes you feel sad for Ganondorf, since he can never truly die. It also makes him the ultimate evil, so you hate him even more than if he only destroyed Hyrule at one point in time.

    • @kaitoudark1
      @kaitoudark1 Před 5 lety +31

      That American Narrator do you though? I can't say I hate him. Because in Wind Waker, I genuinely feel that he was freed from the curse of Demise. He was once again just plain "Ganondorf".
      This is due to the way Demise formed that curse:
      "So long as your descendants live, I will return".
      That curse required Link and Zelda to both to leave a legacy, either together or apart. If the hero had just stopped rising, or the royal family line died out, or someone left Hyrule with 1/3 the triforce (2/3 of which finally happened); the cycle of reincarnation would break, the gods would finally need to intervene to bind or purge Demise in whatever form he donned at the time.
      Ganondorf would possibly be "born" (read: exorcised) one last time as a mortal, and time would march on. We see a new hero chosen anyway, and the goddesses bestow him with the newly reforged triforce of courage, in a world getting a new start, free of the past and the chains of Hyrule's histories; and that's that.

    • @brendanrisney2449
      @brendanrisney2449 Před 5 lety +18

      Actually, you're not far off.
      There was a war. A war for the Triforce, which likely ended with the genocide of the Gerudo. Ocarina of Time immediately follows that. And Wind Waker Ganon is the same as Ocarina Ganon, hence his speech at the end. How could he have grown up in the desert if it was underwater? Plus, it's also canon that he escaped the seal Zelda put on him at the end of OoT and that's why the gods flood Hyrule.
      And, as suggested above, perhaps he isn't Demise reincarnated. He is Ganon reincarnated, but I'd guess that it's only Demise's raw hatred that drives Ganon to be the King of Evil.
      As for when he meets the king, I doubt he does even demand the spiritual stones. That would be way too obvious. He swears allegiance to the king and then secretly tries to force the other races to hand over the stones. He curses the Great Deku Tree, starves the Gorons, and does something to Jabu-Jabu, the guardian of the Zoras. Then he notices you and just quietly watches as you do his dirty work for him and then jumps in last second to steal the Triforce, which splits into three leaving him only the Triforce of Power. But that's all he needs to reign as king, even if he does want it all.

    Did anyone realize that most of the chords or lyrics are pulling a bunch of (not gonna say all because I haven’t checked, but a lot) of the other legend of Zelda songs he has sang? Don’t mean to alarm you- time to go, your just a thief- the bongo bongo one (don’t remember the name), one part is literally part of the chorus of drowning, they called you the hero of our time... do I have to say it... hero of our time... these were all that I realized but I just think that is so so cool
    Edit: the same old boy the same old house- same old forest (expect a few more edits coming lol)
    Edit 2: it doesn’t cut to the chorus of drowned but there is another connection, I haven’t found it but I was informed that it connects to all of them but grounded (rip grounded)
    Edit 3: the chorus is from shell but it’s also just Gerudo valley so... yeah, I think the it’s such a shame you’ll die alone is from drowning, I know the now I need my I need my room to fly is from one of the other songs I can’t remember which one it might be time to go but it also may be far away I’m not sure and I haven’t checked too deeply

    Ganondorf the man who no matter what must become evil and do evil things even if people don't understand
    Zelda a reincarnated goddess who must reincarnate to do battle with that evil
    Link a man who either by a curse from evil or a wish from a goddess to her ever loyal champion must rise up to fight evil
    Each one cursed in a never ending conflict a tale of love loss and pain until all are freed of their curses they shall never be allowed to rest
    Ganondorf curse of hatred must be broken with love
    Zelda with letting go of what she holds dear
    Link to lay down his weapon and allow his spirit to find peace instead of the endless conflict

    I've ben listening to this entire playlist nonstop for days, and my favorite thing about this song is still how it references all the songs have come before it. "The same old boy from the same old house" "Now I don't mean to alarm you" "The hero of our time" "My paraises you will sing..." And then that last line that brings the album full circle and ends where it started: with Link.
    I just...good gosh. A+ songwriting all the way through here.

    Ganondorf wasn't quite as evil as they make him out to be. Everyone sees themselves as the hero of the story. A evil force to you is a guardian of what's right to someone else.

      No, If Ganondorf were to take the triforce, He would bring suffering to those who are affected by Ganondorf's victory.
      Its best to keep the triforce out of ganon's hands.

      I honestly feel sorry for Ganondorf. You have to remember that the curse from Demise is what basically makes hime evil, right? He has no choice. It's an eternal. Some people might think it as a dark blessing for him but it's as much of a curse to him as it is for Link and Zelda. *sigh* Stupid Demise and his stupid curse...

    • @forencu
      @forencu Před 8 lety +10

      +Jacob Jimenez I wish they'd make a Zelda game where they figure how to break the curse coz like, come on! Ganon makes a great a villain at all but, it's getting sad, you know? I love it but... really wishin they make a game that where Ganondorf is like a good guy. I bet he'd make a cool good guy. Hm...

    • @cloud_tsukamo
      @cloud_tsukamo Před 8 lety +11

      +Neon Tronn I think it'd be interesting to see a Zelda game with Ganon as the main character with the game being him trying to break the curse. Not sure how the game would turn out but it would be interesting at least.
