I Bought A Broken Nintendo GameCube On eBay...Can We Fix It?

- Today I wanted to take some time to check out a Nintendo GameCube I ordered on eBay that was as is. The description says it was not reading games and what sounded like an easy fix turned into a bit more work since it turned out to have significant water damage inside. Can we fix it?

#Nintendo #Gamecube #Ebay - Hry
You should do a series of this called “Pimp My Console.” Just get these broken systems and pimp them out
Make it water cooled GameCube! :)
I should have never sold my gamecube! I should of never sold my GBA, or my genesis snes and playstation 1.... I should of never sold any of the games I had for them either... I hate being poor and crippled and needing money.
@@gologotha7922 its seen enough moisture already
Pimp them? No, keep them fixed and original.
Jeez, did the previous owner use that GC as a flotation device, in a pool full of pepsi? I never understand how users let their game systems/PC's get to this level of misuse
@nuwavghost
Exactly. I know people like to deny that Nintendo consoles are for kids or are a "kiddie console" but the fact of the matter is plenty of kids owed them and used and abused the heck out of them. Same thing with literally any of their other Home consoles and or Portables. ( though I must say if you're getting a ten-year-old a switch you got too much disposable income, yeesh!)
Living in a city with high humidity could potentially be the culprit.
Probably a smoker
I bought an og xbox from a goodwill and it was full of mountain dew residue
@@onometre xbox and mountain dew are synonymous
I really enjoy watching stuff like this. THANK YOU
It's like a gaming version of the Discovery Channel lol
He's like tronics fix
It's always good to know that these old Nintendo work horses can still be used for decades to come. It's always comforting to know that these things can be fixed rather easily and cheaply and continue to work for a long time to come.
GuppyLife he is, but he also do other stuff too which its good.
Yeah me too
Yes I would like to see more repairs, even with swapping the original cases with original 3rd party ones
Spawn Wave seems like he would be a secret pro Melee player
He's actually a personal trainer
SuperDestrier he taught the best
Water, the worst enemy of electronics 🤣🤣

Ok, I know the thing has a handle on it, but how do you get enough water damage in a GameCube for it to be broken? Lol

Untrained puppy lol
A Flood?
Dropping it in the toilet
Trying to play in the bath
Man I really have a soft spot for the Game Cube. I loved that system and had great memories playing games with my family and relatives on it. Super Smash melee, super monkey ball and the wrestling games were a blast to play.
itws a damn shame it was restricted by its 1.5gb disk capacity, because it never got certain games due to size issues, even though it was in the middle in terms of power and capability
Im just getting into the Wrestling games on the gamecube Extremely underrated
NonsensicalVids yeah to me it was the disk capacity that caused some third party games to be missing some certain features and the controller, it’s amazing and very comfy but the problem was not having more buttons (R3,L3,L1). It had awesome exclusives though!
Gamecube was actually more powerful than the PS2, with the xbox being the most powerful for that gen.
Didnt own a Gamcube till later ( had the PS2 early on) but still, my friends and I always played Melee, Double Dash, Viewtful Joe, Res4, Wind Waker/TP and of course Super Monkey ball as well:)
SirReznor yes it was more powerful! I remember trying Batman Vengeance (one of my first game cube purchases) on Game Cube and then seeing it on my friends PS2 and it looked better and somehow smoother (If I recall correctly ) on gamecube. However, some titles like need for speed, Def Jam FFNY had some features cut due to the disk size, sometimes it’s audio files, others textures or details. It’s amazing how Nintendo was able to squeeze every ounce of the console power and disk size. :D
I love it when you open up consoles! It’s very interesting to see how you fix it and I appreciate the explanation of all the important parts. I haven’t had to fix any of my consoles yet, but if I do, I’ll definitely refer to these videos.
Also, love the F-Zero X music!
I have nothing but LOVE for the GameCube! Soooo many good memories with this system - and I own all Nintendo consoles and still have them. Severely underrated by the masses.
Also, at time of this comment, this video had 587 👍 and 5 👎... why the hate. This is nothing but a quality video by this man and highly educational!
Love this type of stuff! Because of your videos I started to actually tinker, clean, learn and fix old video game stuff that I had. Now I'm hooked into doing this stuff.
You can leave the metal RF shielding out usually, it's only in there to keep the FCC happy. And it ain't like the GameCube has any actual RF-emitting components.
The motherboard mounts to the bottom shield, and the drive mounts to the top shield.
I thought the shielding was also used to transmit heat better or not?
Mario accidentally shot it with water, and before it stopped working, the GameCube yelled “No!”
"You can see a reddish light coming out of it"...DUDE, it's a laser. Take care of your eyes, man.
I was thinking the same thing
Pew pew pew
"Some Corrosion"
Love these types of videos, between you and a few others I’ve learned loads of great stuff about my favourite consoles
I love this type of content. Keep it coming dude!
Imagine the water damage is actually a bad doggies golden shower 😳
That dog must have been a xbox or ps2 fan

I bought a 21 dollar gamecube that apparently didn't read discs. Turns out it actually did.
Nice F-Zero X tracks in vid and outro, X and GX are my favorite 64 and GC games. Masterpieces. Great job on the restoration.
Did anyone else think: “yes we can. bob the builder” when they read the title lol
Spawnthetechman can he fix it, Spawnthetechman Yes He Can!! 👍
I thought, "Well since it's highly unlikely you'd upload a failure video... *shakes Magic 8 Ball* all signs point to yes"
Then I skipped ahead to where it was in fact fixed. Next video.
Totally awesome GameCube repair video. I really like these types of videos. I hope to see more
Really good Job Jon(SW). Man that GC was beat up badly with that Water Damage. That Starlight Gold Case is looking fantastic, I had the Purple one back when, which was pretty funky and sweet.
Enjoying them (videos) keep them coming Spawnwave!
I like the stuff you do with consoles, changing shells, fixing them, doing custom work
Used GameCube for sale. “Light” water damage. Doesn’t read discs. Well, when you flood the disc motor...

Definitely enjoy this type of video! Keep it up!
Definitely, definitely enjoyed this type of video. I would love it if you did these more often. I mean even if you don’t do them to keep them, you could always just sell them again on eBay and get your money back. It’s a win-win. I love these techie videos.
Thanks for all the fix it videos you make. Because of them I’m able to repair. From someone who has no knowledge what so at all.Mostly recent drift issue for my friends switches.

Also, I've been trying to get a gamecube since I only had the ps2 when I was a kid, but every guy I call asking for the cube, it's been sold a few hours or days before my call, it's pretty annoying since those has been really good prices

I love the little sound when it boots up a game, i remember my GC becoming faulty and i'd just wait to hear that sound which confirms it has read the game correctly. Sometimes it'd take upwards of 15 minutes to get it running lol
Love your vids man, makes my day!
