Azula probably doesnt KNOW Aang is alive, she just knows there's a slim possibility of it and she's just hedging her bets. Its a genius move because she's already set on fathers approval so she doesn't need that hot potato.
Book 1 Katara " I miss dad so much, i want to see him. "
Book 2 Katara " I miss dad so much, i want to see him. "
Book 3 Katara " GET LOST DAD! "
She at most may have said it once a season
It's almost like she's a teenage girl or something
yeah zuko mentions it when he went out with the earth kingdom girl saying his situtation was complicated, and azula mentions to mai that she could see zuko in which made her smile
Azula playing chess as usual
Tales of Ba Sing Se had a scene of Aang shaving his head.
Rewatching this again highlights over and over that Korra just isn't it.
Aang: I hate the invasion plan, I don't want Katara or anyone else risk their lives to fix my mistake!
Korra: so I made an upsie and now I demand Fire Nation to invade Earth Kingdom to fix my mistake.
There was a scene of Sokka and Aang shaving while they were in Ba Sing Sel
Azula want her father's approval as much if not more than Zuko, a reason she torments Zuko every time is despite being the favorite she stills needs to prove again and again that she's the worthy child.
Like renaming Omashu "New Ozai"
There’s no reason Azula thinks the Avatar is alive, but that’s not going to stop screwing with Zuko’s mind.
She could tell from Zuko’s reaction that he thought there was a chance he was alive so she covered all bases to protect herself
Azula doesn’t take chances. Instead of going “impossible! No one could have survived my ultimate attack!” she weighs her options and assumes even the 1% chance Aang survived. Azula doesn’t need any more accolades, she let Zuko take the credit just in case.
"So she does know" Nah she doesn't. She just found Zuko slightly suspicious so she took some precautions but she doesn't know that Aang is alive, she only suspect there's a chance at most.
oh man, girl, that was a ROUGH cut. NO ONE just cuts out Mae Whitman's dialogue with Hakoda.
Funny how she wanted to see him so badly in the first 2 seasons then she's like "GET LOST" here.
Also "there's not much to these characters". Some pretty rough dropped balls.
One of the best parts of the series ❤
I didn’t know it was an iconic scene to most. I feel like I keep a lot in for atla, probs more than usual I do in my shows on CZcams. I have to cut some things to keep fair use. People are saying I did it so people could check out Patreon, not at all, had I known it was that loved I would have kept it in. I’m honestly not even sure if I had a great reaction to it anyways.
@@Animelonif you decided to cut it, then you had no reaction on that scene, and it's already weird, regardless of your knowledge if that scene was iconic. This scene is iconic because it is great, and because it is great, it makes people react and because people react they don't cut it out.
avatar is soo ahead if its time, i love the way they write and handle mental health and trauma in these series, truly a timeless classic
You mean being traumatized only cuz mercury is still in u and not cuz of ur actual mental state? Yeah, riveting and accurate stuff that is.
Just cuz it was ur first seeing mental illness in a show ever, doesnt make it the first or best, or even good. The show is terrible and makes no sense. Everytime korra is shown to be going thru stuff or whatever she just meditates or has someone else fix and save her. She doesnt earn or do anything. Nor does she change. Shes alwaayyyyys hot headed and impulsive. Always turning on her loved ones no matter how many times she says throughout the show that she loves them and values them. Shes the exact same temperament and everything from the beginning to the end, til the show decides shes gay now and walks into the portal. She sucks
Avatar Extras
The Awakening
Airbenders shave their heads so that they can feel the air better. It also makes them more “arrow-dynamic.”
The Fire Nation Capital is located in a hollow volcanic crater.
7:18 Admiral Chan gets his last name from Avatar writer, May Chan.
Fun fact: Before production on season three began, the creators and writers went on a writing retreat. And outlined the major events of the season.
9:44 i have nothing to say except: thank you the universe
10:21 another interesting parallel as the tapestry of the fire nation covers his staff illustrating the theme of this season: fire. this is further expanded when, by the end of the episode, his staff is engulfed by flames as it burns.
10:36 also now, it is completely flipped as Aang is now the outcast and Zuko has regained his position as prince.
11:14 The Fire Lord is designed to look like an older, scarless version of Zuko.
11:38 It was a shame that the Hakoda/Katara discussion was cut, but also another great parallel as when Katara reunites with her father it is full of emotion whereas the reunion of Zuko and his father lacks any of it.
15:11 this is the same Crescent Island that Aang had visited all the way back in Season 1 “The Winter Solstice” and first talked with Roku.
Bonus: 19:13 to answer your question, Mai shot first. In a spinoff comic titled as “Going Home Again” Zuko was hesitant on returning to the Fire Nation. Azula and Ty Lee form a plan to convince him to go with them and set him up on a blind date with Mai. They walk the streets of Ba Sing Se, run into Jin (the girl that Zuko dated in the episode “Tales of Ba Sing Se”), and have some shenanigans. A heartfelt conversation makes it plain to Zuko and Mai that they still have feelings for each other. They reminisce about old times before sharing a kiss. The next morning, Mai asks hopefully if Zuko will be returning with her to the Fire Nation. By the end of the story Zuko makes up his mind: he will return to the Fire Nation. Saddest part of this story however was watching Iroh being led away in chains as a prisoner of the Fire Nation.
finally, though you didn't grow up with the show (neither did I as I was 13-15 years when this series was going on). but the fact that you are watching it AND enjoying exemplifies that it can still reach an audience long after it has finished. that's quite an achievement.
Mai's love for Zuko will have world changing repercussions later.
BTW, keep tissues nearby for the rest of the series.
I remember when I was at my sister's place and she had a CD collection of all ATLA episodes and since I'm such a big fan of the show and I had the full day to myself, I literally watched the full show in one day and enjoyed every minute of it! Season 3 is definitely the best season and you're in for a great show for the rest of ATLA!
Nothing but bangers from here on out.
Book 3 is fire. (Pun intended) 😂🔥🔥🔥
Melon wishes she got to experience this show in her childhood, but she's too young. I wish I got to experience the show in my childhood, but I'm too old.
not leaving Katara's entire speech in is criminal. That is probably top 3 best voice acting lines in the entire show.
if she didn’t have a reaction to the speech then there’s not really much to leave in you could just watch the show
She's saving A material for patreon.
I'm unsubscribing, that is criminal
Not a market replacement.
It's a reaction and they have limits on how much they can show
Yes! Season 3 is AMAZING
That vocal performance Mae Whitman (Katara). So good. I have heard her in a lot of things but that clip as Katara is incredible.
Personally I don’t think she reaches those hights as Amity. Not that her performances as other characters are ever bad.
Edit: Okay so i just went to Mar Whitman’s IMDB page and i completely forgot about all of the Live action acting she has done. Man she is in a lot more things than I remembered. Not that feel the need to revise my statement. But who ever read this, consider looking her up and seeing if she is in a movie or tv dhow you like but didn’t know about.
- Legend of Korra was an amazing series, people are just salty that it wasn't literally exactly what they wanted and came in with unrealistic expectations after coming out of a 10/10 series. Korra is it's own series within this universe and it is absolutely worth watching.
I mostly just didn’t like the very end of Korra. And I’ve never been a fan of love triangles lol
Korra is good, but it has a few crucial flaws that really brought it down from what it could’ve been. There are definitely some parts that are REALLY good, but also some of the things it adds to the overall franchise lore felt… weirdly out of character for ATLA’s themes? Idk how to put it without getting into hardcore spoilers lmao
Basically, if I acknowledge all of TLOK’s lore as canon, it’d make me like ATLA less. So I kinda pretend that, like, a good chunk of TLOK’s lore isn’t canon lmfao
No way you cut out Katara confronting her father 💀
Maybe there was a copyright issue with it or something.
@@spaceangelmewtwo9074 Most likely it was that, a bunch of big scenes from the show are super protected so you can't show then completely.
Korra undoubtably has mixed reviews (personally, I like it and think it has some seriously cool moments, but definitely has a few weird moments as well), but if I'm remembering right, it took you a while to start jjk as well because it kept losing polls to other shows. Don't always trust what people say, it's honestly easier to just try it and decide for yourself. You could always drop it after if you aren't feeling it
Sad thing is, most of Korra's problems were due to the network, rather than the show's creators. The creators did the best they could with what they had, but in the end Nickelodeon screwed them over too much; and to call it infuriating would be an understatement.
Korra is very uneven. At its best, it is better than ATLA. At its worst, it dips lower than any part of ATLA. Seasons 1 and 4 are good, season 2 is meh (but sets up season 3), and season 3 is outstanding.
@@qawamity agreed, S2 really is the lowest point for TLOK. S1 is a bit weak too but has some good moment.
S3 and S4 peak really hard though.
Here's the thing. If TLoK was the only story in this i.p. it would of been a very good 2 great show. Minus the horrible romance & Bolin's zero character growth. The "flying kite spirits" would of been fine since there was no ATLA origin story to change.
@@darknessunknown4384honestly learning this is why I always say the creators should just Leave Nickelodeon and work with Netflix to Remake LOK on how They want it to be and not only that but make future Avatar stories without the network breathing down their neck.
You are the only reactor I’ve seen cut Katara’s reconciliation with her dad 😳😱😱😱 now that’s cold
Awh man, you trimmed the best part, when Katara talk to Hakoda
you’ll probably love legend of korra
I interpret Azula telling Ozai that Zuko was the one to kill Aang a little differently. I see it as her hedging her bets. She sees the possibility that Aang livedand wants to be sure that if that is the case she's protected from the fallout. Plus, it means she has dirt on the crown prince, a powerful person to have in your pocket. No matter what happens, she wins
NOOOOO she cut the Katara Hakoda convo WHYYYYY
I came for THEE Katara moment 😢
At 8:36 zuko looks like ozai...
4:53 FUSION...HAA!
2:49 Haha that reaction to Zuko. :)
The Last Airbender is a masterpiece. Expect any other series or Korra to have a difficult time being better than ATLA. But just because it isn't as perfect doesn't mean it's not great. The legend of Korra is still on that "great show" tier.
Will somebody get this boy a lineup???
When season 3 episodes would come on TV as a kid, I didn't watch them cuz I thought aang with hair wasn't canon
Sokka: The Universe just loves proving me wrong, doesn't it?
(A few minutes later)
Sokka: Thank you, The Universe.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Melon Lord. 😂
I'll keep typing this (whenever I watch your reaction), till THEN.
There is a comic called "The Lost Adventures" that has a lot of mini stories that take place between various episodes throughout the series including the finale (so if you want to read it wait until you finish) but there are 3 that take place between season 2 and 3. One is the Earth King learning how to live outside civilization, one is Katara writing about what they were doing such as her attempt to heal Aang and how they captured the ship, and one is how Zuko and Mai started officially dating.
We finally here
Sometimes you forget that Azula is only 14.
The people that told you about LoK are jaded and probably haven’t seen it in awhile. It’s great in it’s on rights
Okay so it did hurt when the Katara scene was cut out for reasons, but don't get too hard on yourselfffff and it was a great reactionnnn!!!
Sokka: the whole world thinks you're dead. ISN'T THAT GREAT??
Aang: 😮😮😮🤯🤯🤯
Way to go Sokka, you gave a 12 year old kid an existential crisis
The biggest strike against Legend of Korra is that the seasons are half as long. It changes how you design the pacing of each season, and how much leeway you have for episodes that are "filler" in the sense they only develop the world or a character moment, while not really advancing the plot.
Imagine cutting out half the episodes of each season of Avatar.
If they had the same length, that would have fixed most of the issues.
Increasing the length of the seasons wouldn't fix the world building sabotage that they did
The show has 4 seasons which means one more season than Avatar but actually has 9 fewer episodes (52 compared to Avatar's 61).
@@nathanielreik6617 Yeah, but also, Avatar was also designed to be one whole story. Korra was written as if each season were the last. That greatly affects how to pace the story. Unless I'm remembering this wrong, it was constantly on the brink of being canceled. And there was something weird they did with how they aired the final two seasons (being online only or something? I don't rememeber anymore.)
@@gerrya2133 The first season was ordered by itself as a single story, but it was good enough that they asked for a second, and then later a 3rd and 4th together. Halfway through season 3 they switched to only online.
@@gerrya2133 if you dig you'll find LOK was intended to be multiple mini-series. the internet has a prevailing rumor the show was about to be cancelled, but from what i've seen it leans more towards the creators (Bryke) were offered 3 seasons of a new avatar show and responded saying they wanted to have each season be independent. so the first season was green lit with a certain budget and Nickelodeon asked to see how it looked. the show was approved 2 more seasons of the same budget well before season 1 was showing on TV. a 4th season got approved shortly after, and the budget for the fourth season was cut in the middle of season 1 airing by 10%. the show went online only because execs at Nick thought the show was not in line with the brand.
at one time the writers were working on over 30 episodes of LOK at once. in ATLA everything was written in order for the most part
Katara darkness begin
good timing i just finished your last one.
i love legend of korra, I'd say give it a chance
1:35 they actually show him shaving at the start of Tales of Ba Sing Se
Azula is problably thinking if the fire lord found out aang is alive he would blame Zuko and it would be like he betrayed his nation by not killing the avater who posses a threat to thier 100 years of war.
Azula doesn't have the Avatar's body to show for he success and she can't be 100% sure that he is indeed dead. She does have conquering Ba Sing Se going for her though and orchestrating the whole thing. She was successful even without the Avatar-kill. So why not leave that glory to Zuko, which actually helps him with his standing in the Fire Nation but on top of that, it moves Zuko to be her security net should the Avatar turn out to be alive. It's a pretty genious move really.
Can't wait until episode 8 and episode 19.
Love your Avarat reactions
Korra is amazing! Don't let the haters win, at least give it a chance.
3rd season best season
The legend of korra is great but it is its own show and that is what is disappointing. The first time i watched it i was disappointed it was not more of a continuation of this show but it is definitely worth a watch! Season 3 of the legend of korra is SOOO good like peak avatar 😂
Oh finally you got to season 3. My favorite episode is here with Sokka. Plus, Katara is going to learn a new technique. And of course, the final battle between Anng and the fire lord. Epic!
IF you enjoyed season 2...HANG ON!!! You're in for an awesome ride.
you should really give samurai jack a go after this. gonna keep reccomending it just for something to say to baboost th algorithm, but its really damn good as well.
Legend of Korra has a much more modern world (industrial revolution because of metal bending) and more teen drama because the new characters are older. 4 seasons with fewer episodes. While last airbender feels like 1 story in 3 parts, korra feels like 4 stories with the same characters. It takes some getting used to, but its good overall. Just some character moments or story choices might feel a bit off, but damn are there some epic moments.
People who didn't like Korra expected a show with different characters and setting to somehow also be a continuation of the first series.
We expected a show that was at least half as good as Avatar, but we never got it.
@@xiNerdLordix You had expectations of style and story and got something different. Good or bad has nothing to do with it. It was good, just not what you wanted.
Best season
Nah dont believe the haters. Legend of korra is great especially the 3rd season but you gotta finish last airbender to understand it
Gracias
If you go into legend of kora expecting it to be just like the last airbender you will be disappointed but if you give it a chance it is really good on its own
Ehhhhhhhhh no its not. It spits on atla. Cuz they didnt know what they were doing
@@michaelgarrett139 lmao what? No it definitely doesn’t. I’m not a korra hater, I really like it but to say that it “spits on atla” is stupid af.
idk why people think the legend of korra isnt that good i think its just as good if not better then ATLAB. the animation and the bending is super cool and the characters are great. korra herself is kind of annoying but the rest of the characters are super good imo
Legend of Korra has its problems, but it's an incredible show still. It's worth the watch. Korra is just a different character with a different journey.
yep!
Hi Melon This episode was crazy
In all seriousness Ozai is a horrible father
And the best place to see this is Zuko and Azula because yes
Zuko wants his dad approval
But Azula also wants his approval just as much as Zuko
But there's a very big difference between how thay want it Zuko wants his dad to see how strong he is
As for Azula he all ready see how smart and strong she is
But because of that he expects her to be perfect and no human being is perfect
As for the conversation between Zuko and Azula in this episode it was basically a what if Aang was a live
Zuko would lose everything Ben wanting for years from his dad exceptions and Azula know that's what he wants that how she was able to pray on that weakness in Zuko
4:46 he did die, so its justified
Korra’s still worth the watch just don’t expect it to be like Aang
I love your love for Oppa
honestly legend of korra is a great show too, not as good as the first show but it ties alot of things together. it starts off weird cuz there is cities now, but once u get into it its pretty cool
yes, well except s2, was hard watch that one, but others great
Season 2 of Korra is the weakest imo but even so that season is still pretty enjoyable for the most part.
im excited for the next one with the earth bender avatar, that will be set in modern-style times.
@@saphcal wait are they doing one?
@@blitzhunts yup!
Don't listen to the Korra haters. The show has a few problems but a lot of it is really good. At least watch the first season - it's a complete story, since they thought they were only getting one season when they wrote it.
korra is great! Trust us!
To hell with what the haters say. Legend of Korra is a good show. Form your own opinion
Do not listen to ppl saying that Legend of Korra isn't great. Yes, it's not as good as ATLA (NOTHING will be as great as ATLA), BUT Korra is soooo good, in my opinion, and worth the watch. Make your own opinion before you knock it.
Azula always lies.
Legend of Korra is massively overhated because it made some questionable decisions regarding some of the avatar lore, and on top of that some of the characters, especially early on, are not very likeable and don't get as much development as the original group do. However I will say towards the end the show does become more enjoyable and isn't a BAD watch.
Legend of Korra is an excellent show! Don't let people sway you, just check it out for yourself. Just don't expect them to redo the plot of ATLA with new characters and you'll enjoy it.
no
Eh, Korra is alright. It just has a lot of problems, mainly with pacing.
TLOK is good. ATLA is outstanding. TLOK season on is good. Season two has problems, but still some pretty good episodes. Season three is very good. Season four is good.
The legend of korra is definitely a step down from the original but it is certainly still worth watching and is still good
Honestly, there are some things I think are better about Korra. The animation and music are a clear step up from TLA. Some of the characters and relationships are more complex and the themes are more grown up. The more I see people react to it, the more I feel like it's underrated.
Korra-haters are upset that 1. It isn't ATLA repackaged, 2. Korra's a girl, 3. it has more mature themes. DO. NOT. LISTEN. TO. THEM. Korra is a different show. More mature. Darker. More political. More relatable in many ways. Don't let yourself miss it. It is a fantastic show in its own right, and absolutely worth watching.
Yeah, ya don't cut Mae Whitman's Oscar clip. Ever.
I'm upset that it's not a good show.
@@xiNerdLordix You are objectively wrong.
Korra is fantastic as well, imo. Season 3 of Korra is the best season of the entire Avatar series, imo as well. Thanks for the upload!
No
ATLA was a 10/10, Korra was like 8.5/10. Not as good, but still worth the watch! 👍
Tlok was just as good they both have issues
Korra definitely has its problems, but it still deserves a watch
Korra is not a masterpiece like this show is, but it's worth watching. Season 3 in particular is just as good as any season of ATLA imo.
I highly recommend watching Legend of Korra, it’s a great show in its own right. And ties in to this show a lot. 👍🏻
You can still read the comics to see what happens with Team Avatar after the series ends.
This is almost done, but you can continue into Korra to stay in universe. Word of warning, Korra is a very different story, so you have to let this one go to enjoy it.
LOK haters are so weird tbh lol I get it has it’s issues but overall it’s still a pretty great show… I dislike LOK Book 2 personally but LOK Book 3 is just as good as the best of ATLA. Books 1 & 4 of LOK are good too but it’s just that Book 3 is SIGNIFICANTLY better imo.
I hate Korra. Up to you.
I don't know who has been telling Korra wasn't good, but they're maliciously wrong. On every level.
AtLA is a good foundation for this universe, but Legend of Korra is the cream of the crop. Even the weakest part of Korra is still better than 90% of seasons 1 and 2 of AtLA.
The ones who don't like Korra are the smoothe brains who can't figure out that reincarnation doesn't mean the same personality and mind carries over into a new body
LOL. What a clown.
Please watch korra when you finish. It is a good show that gets a lot of hate just because it’s not just avatar again. It tells a new story and it’s worth watching
No. Its bad cuz it disrespects and changes the stuff from atla. It takes what was cool with atla and throws it all away for 1920s america. It retcons everything in an unsatisfactory way. Thats why.
Only a fuckin idiot would actually believe people are going around critiquing korra only with "shes not aang so it sucks" lol not everyone is a dumb frat bro.
Korra is actually a fantastic series. It's a new avatar, so it's a different story line. Definitely doesn't get the respect it deserves.
No
It gets the right amount of respect it deserves.
Don’t capitulate to the Will of the Internet. Watch what you want and screw the haters
Nothing wrong with the legend of Korra. It's not as amazing is this series but it's still good. Cast of characters is a bit weaker but when it comes to worldbuilding I actually think it's excellent. Storywise it's difficult to compare, but overall I think the last airbender is stronger in that regard, albeit more straightforward.
I can understand that people like LOK but saying there's nothing wrong with it is wild imo
@@yannizo well it's not perfect, but what is?
I wish people would try to like things for what they are, not hate it for what it's not. Advising someone not to watch legend of Korra at all is what's wild (not saying that was you).
What it's not is on the level of the last airbender, but there's a lot of good below that and legend of Korra fits in there somewhere.
@@HerrFinsternis (SPOILERS)
Well I personally dislike LOK for several reasons:
Main thing would be that it's trying to be a political show for a younger target audience while all the political allegories are terrible. Besides the second season villian who is just evil because he says he is (which is imo pretty awful writing), the other villains resemble ideologies that are far from the theories they're supposed to portray and executed them terribly. Maybe that's one thing that doesn't bother other people as much but as someone studying political science it really bothers me.
Major politics aside, it displays other serious topics really badly as well. Making Bolin being rejected by Korra a joke did the character dirty, the whole abusive relationship with Estha being some humorous side plot is awful and giving Varrick (a war criminal) the spotlight of the happy ending isn't cool too. Also the love triangle is pretty cringe and most of the main characters aren't likable at all in my view.
I can clearly say the show also has some good moments, but I definitely don't dislike it for "not being as good as ATLA" but for things that are worth criticising in my opinion. I can see people like it but saying "nothing wrong with The Legend Of Korra" is a statement that I highly disagree with.
@@yannizo as someone who studied philosophy I can appreciate precision. I take your point and I should probably have said "hey Melon opinions are divided there's no reason not to judge it for yourself".
Having said there's a difference between something not being to ones liking and something being wrong. I don't think many people will watch a series with your eye (like you said yourself) so I have some doubts that these express misgivings are very helpful to others, even when they are true. It's just a tv show after all.
:D
legend of korra is amazing.
Ok .. that cut was mean :(
