The Diamond Murals appear to reveal aspects of the Diamonds’ personalities. (Because these are only murals, they most likely only reflect other Gems’ views of the Diamonds):
Yellow Diamond - Two hands held out make Yellow Diamond seem like she is REASONING between options.
Blue Diamond - One hand held out with the head looking its contents makes Blue Diamond seem like she is OPEN MINDED to new things.
Pink Diamond - The appearance of reaching for something makes Pink Diamond seem like she is being AMBITIOUS and “reaching for the stars.”
White Diamond - Two hands closely holding an object make White Diamond seem like she is keeping said object in CONTROL and BALANCE.

This really makes sense. Especially with Blue Diamond. From what little we know of her, she does seem objective and fair.
This is an amazing idea and I highly support it. But wouldn't Pink's design be reflective of the way she act? Sure she is ambitious but she doesn't like herself. Though her court doesn't see it I believe the Diamonds control her image so much as to cover her personality. The murals show regalness all around but it doesn't show Yellow's regret, Blue's depression and Pink's self-hatred. It covers their imperfections so their courts see them as perfect.
If Pink Diamond does intentionally make herself appear larger, it would make sense that she would have a much smaller group of guards around her at all times, and it could explain the few witnesses at her shattering.
I feel the 4 diamonds might be more or less an inverted 'mirror image' of the Crystal Gems:
The CGs are shown to be loving, forgiving, supprtive, cooperative, respectful, and [striving to be] emotionally stable;
while the Diamond Authority looks so far like a dysfunctional family, of various toxic relationships, with all the previously mentioned CG traits inverted.

Garnet : white diamond(because garnet seems to be the mother of the CG's
Pearl : yellow diamond(because she seems to be like amethyst's mother)...idk
Amethyst : pink diamond(because her voice is literally the same as pink diamond,and also her personality is 100% like the season 1 amethyst)
And steven : blue diamond(because he's the emotional one)

I chose Amesthyst as pink because of how similar they act, I also chose pearl as yellow because pearl and Amesthyst relationship is very similar to pink and yellow diamond.
I chose Garnet as white Diamond because she is the leader of the CG. I chose Steven as blue diamond because he has also lost someone very close to him like blue.

I was gonna say the same thing! I was wondering if anyone noticed how much she sounded like Amethyst when she talks about being important as well.
I was thinking about this with regards to her form being so different from expected, too. Like, Amethyst, did Pink Diamond rush this form in her childish impatience? I could easily see her taking Yellow's criticism to heart and going through a reformation that would bring her more in line with the mural and flashback depictions. Like, "Look! I'm so grown up now! NOW can I have a colony???"

Yeah I've been seeing people saying that Padparascha is slow at predicting the future but she gives detail.
Like in Lars of the Stars, she said Emerald would miss firing at the ship but *On Purpose* which we didn't really know.

Pad is what I like to think of as a recon gem. You might see what happened, but she can see the details and motivations. This isn’t too useful in combat, but it is invaluable when playing political and espionage games. The kind which are common in rebellions. The on purpose line was valuable information which gave Lars a little more ammo against Emerald. Now I wonder what she would be capable of if she tried to glean as much info as she could rather than trying to see into the future.
Imagine being made with the mindset that you are a leader. You are important. You are a ruler. Then only to be told everything you thought you knew and the place you belonged was a lie.
Rose said when a Gem is made it comes out knowing what they're supposed to do. Pink Diamond is being kept from that.

I am completely down for the theory that Pink uses the tutu version of herself around the other diamonds (and likely her Pearl when/if she got one) and when around others she shapeshifts and takes on something resembling the mural.
It makes sense. Diamons must look powerful, especially in images, that's why she looks that way on the wall or in garnets memory.
What if all the diamonds are actually much smaller than we think and just shapeshift all the time.
I doubt it. The only small diamond we have seen is Pink. And there were moments when the other diamond could have shapeshifted but didn't.

I think Pink grew up or matured and became nurturing. Seeing as Pink and all of her court as defective (emotional, nurturing and caring) she grew to love them and grew hate for home world's cruelty and mistreatment for defective gems because she knows she is also one. Her court has such strong characters which would reflect what Pink is. So Pink devised a plan making Rose quartz the leader of the rebellion (or maybe she is rose quartz an alter ego maybe, Rose's and Pink's gem cuts are the same just different placement. )

I love Pink Diamond! But I'm honestly surprised that people seem to be focussing on her childishness and small size as evidence that she was a weak and cute diamond and that's why the rebellion started and really she's just a sweet cinnamon roll etc.
Were we watching the same episode? I was quite shaken when she shattered that mirror in one punch, tbh that's one of the scariest faces I've seen on the show, just the pure unbridled rage she's feeling being told "no", being told she doesn't act as a diamond should, to the point where she has to punch something and restrain herself from doing worse... it's revealing.
I think that indicates that while she certainly isn't evil by nature, her desperate need to be taken seriously as the other diamonds, and prove to herself and the world that she is just as good as them, possibly led to her being one of the cruellest tyrannical dictators Homeworld ever witnessed.
Think about all the chaos that mad monarchs caused in real life, think about all the death and destruction child kings caused trying to prove their power, to make an example of others, or just because they were on a power trip. Now imagine that coupled with the pressure of not only having to prove yourself, but also prove the authority of all diamonds, prove the legitimacy of Homeworld society itself, and indeed your entire race.
That's a heck of a lot of pressure, and we see that Pink's first response to disappointment is aggression and violence, I dread to think what she is capable of when more responsible diamonds are not around to reign her in.
Honestly, that mirror scene still shakes me, because I don't think that's just a representation of shattering herself, I think that's her shattering other gems in place of herself. I think that's her taking out her own feelings of inadequacy on other people and because of her power and total lack of consequences for her actions as a all-powerful matriarch, I think her body count could be the highest of all the diamonds.

I've gotta say I feel bad for Pink, chances are she only acts the way she does because Pink feels left out. She's defective and thus treated like she's useless by Yellow and pitied by Blue. This would cause her to act like a child in order to get attention even if it's negative, her identity would more that likely be a struggle causing her to have unchecked emotions.

Their is this theory that says the Diamonds are like a dark reflection of the Crystal Gems and this proves it even more. You can draw parallels with the Diamonds to Pearl, Amythest, Garnet and to an extent even Steven and Rose. Blue is the parallel to Pearl, Pink is Amythest, White is possibly Garnet, Yellow is Rose. Blue is stuck in the past, sad and remorseful and the motherly figure. Amythest is the child, small, insecure and angry at the other Gems and herself. Garnet is smart but more distant than the others and is leader of the current Gems but plays a reactionary role rather than an active leadership. Rose has done horrible things but their are still Gems that will fight for her and admire her, she keeps up and act and illusion like everything is fine even though she’s being torn apart inside because that’s what everyone wants from her.
I agree. Pink Diamond isn't a brat - she's frustrated, depressed. She must have looked up to YD and BD (and presumably WD) like crazy, and it just shattered her that she knew she could never be quite like them. She wanted to earn their love and deserve it, wanted to contribute to society, wanted to make her people proud. I can't wait to find out more about her character.

Do you have kids? I do. Kids can be brats, sure. But so can adults. People who lack emotional maturity lash out like that when they're frustrated. I will say, though, that kids who are often spoiled, have a chronic case of frustration.
Kids are brats when they're being difficult on purpose, choosing not to behave in a mature manner on purpose. It seems to be that Pink Diamond honestly has too much raw energy for her own good, and has no other outlet for it than a short tantrum. Imagine how you would feel if your siblings had responsibilities - pets, chores they could be proud of doing, etc. And the youngest sibling wants those responsibilities, because it would bring them more to the level of their siblings. They might be too young to have those responsibilities for a long time, and not understand why. Kids yearn towards adulthood. PD just wants to fulfil her purpose as a diamond.
What if the fact that she shattered the mirror with the image of her reflection in it foreshadows that she shattered herself??

I believe Pink wanted to change the way homeworld was operating. tho the crystal gems treated her as she wanted to destroy the earth she did create an abundant amount of Rose Quarts gems. These gems can create life. I believe she wanted to restore the planet thus being more successful then the other diamonds having a planet that just keeps going and can produce more gems. Whoever wanted her dead didn't want her to do that being seen as correct and making homeworld stronger or one of the diamonds didn't want to be upstaged by a bratty little kid

I thought of it more as White Diamond was the distant mother, and so the other diamonds step in. Yellow doesn't put up with Pink's crap, which Blue is more likely to do; Yellow's the bossy older sister, and Blue is the 'cool' older sister.

Maybe Pink’s Diamond is upside down because her diamond is at the bottom of the Diamond Symbol. White’s is probably the same but right side up, this makes sense because Blue and Yellow’s diamond shape are the same and they’re both the diamonds on the side while Pink and White’s diamonds are on top and bottom.
I really need to see Pink and Blue interact after this. It was really interesting to see Pink Blue and Yellow in a daughter and her parents view instead of the sisters view. And if Connie's mom is Yellow then Blue must be her dad. We saw that Connie's mom was much more stern and controlling. In all i think Pink would be a very interesting leader and i think she just wants to fit in. This makes me think that Yellow actually didn't shatter her after we've seen Yellow be a little more patient than i thought she would. She was annoyed yes, but she really seemed like a parent to a bratty child. I enjoyed the little dynamic

You're not. The Great Diamond Authority has its parallels to the Crystal Gems, as dark foils. It's really good writing.
Yeah I'm really happy about it. Both groups lost someone in some way (i count this person as white diamond and rose quartz, their leaders), and dealt with it different. Yellow Diamond reacted similiar to Garnet, recognising the cause needs to go on. Blue Diamond was definitely Pearl, trying her best despite her grief. And Pink Diamond was Amethyst, she doesn't exactly understand the implications of an absent leader and wonders why she isn't treated equally. Personally, I think that White Diamond left the Diamonds before Pink's shattering, and caused the events leading up to it, i.e the strongest Diamond disappearing, leaving open a window for a rebellion, leading to a loss of another gem. This is ANOTHER parellel if it's true, because these events happened to both groups of gems. It can be a bit confusing though, as I see White and Pink Diamond as a parallel to Rose Quartz, because now we know Pink might not have been fit to rule, and we've seen evidence Rose might not have been either.

I like the idea of Pink Diamond self loathing herself, makes her a deeper character than just childish or bratty, she's likely only like that because she looked down upon as a child in the first place, and she's only looked down on because she's off colored, and the aggression only comes from pent up anger and frustration towards herself for not being the perfect Diamond to represent Homeworld, self hatred and blame on herself, and furthering her immaturity only made her less likely to gain respect or any power.
It's all a vicious cycle.

We're seeing the parallels between Pink and the Diamonds and Steven and the Crystal Gems right? I'm thinking with the diamonds, there is a kind of adolescence when learning to lead at the very least. There has to be a learning period. So, really, by extension, there has to be character development for her... which also means that would also not be her last physical form and attitude. I'm still hyped for later her.
If it's not clear I mean that Steven was bratty like that back in season 1, and had an overwhelming desire to become a Crystal Gem like the others, but felt inadequate like we see from Pink. SO... I can't wait to see which direction Pink chooses to go in regards to the diamonds. What if she rebels? Cares (or rather helps/sympathises with them to rebel) to much for other life or even the Crystal Gems? MAYBE that's why she's shattered. PLus she doesn't seem to be a proper diamond anyway, so...

Jason Viadero maybe she did see something but then again, rose's sword cannot shatter a gem and we're talking about a diamond here. Other gems cannot shatter diamonds, only a diamond can shatter another diamond. Plus maybe Ruby saw Rose trying to poof Pink before she shattered herself but was too late and that's what ruby saw. A sword trying to poof Pink but at the same time Pink shattering herself which would look like Rose did it. If ruby wasn't lying about seeing the shattering that is

I feel like with her personality she probably wouldn’t do that.
If the mural says anything, it’s that her rage and selfishness would be what leads to her being shattered (not how she was shattered though, mind you), but that’s just my take on it.
Pink's childish behavior is similar to her Amethysts. This may suggest that the gems that come from certain kindergartens reflect their "owners" or creators in more than color. In theory, if diamonds were the first to develop a consciousness that expands outside of their gems to create a physical form, then maybe diamonds somehow inject a part of themselves into gems to give them the same ability, making themselves mother and master to all gems.
This begs the question: How much power do the diamonds really have in themselves that *may* have been passed down to subordinates if they are also able to prevent or seal those same powers from gems as a precaution? The possibilities are endless but we can't be completely sure of their combined powers since newer gems are unable to use theirs or not encouraged to even try enough to be aware of their abilities.
I love Pink so far, she is a very interesting character and beautifully designed as well. Her childlike behavior is what makes her special and unique. She is by far my favorite diamond so far. Her reactions and feelings however do resemble of a child, but that just makes her more realistic. It's not like everyone on Homeworld is perfect. And if you did think that, you have been proven wrong by Pink's feelings and actions.
Personally I am not a fan at all of this kind of character especially in the leadership roles at least in other stories I have seen this character in. I mean really think about it if she was still around and ruling planets she would probably do it the worst considering how unbalanced her emotional development seems. I know that homeworld is used to play the whole "expression good, conformity bad" angle that the show exposes but would you really want a leader who acts like that running a country your living in.
I am not saying that their treatment is good I am only saying that I have been skeptical of the shows depictions of gem society on the whole from the beginning and I am also pretty biased against this character type. But hey if the crew can pull it off then I would love to see it. Sorry I rambled for a bit.
commander5662 She didn't get her chance to truly lead with what we know of so far. So I don't see that as an issue here. In fact, the show has *already proven you right* about this archetype in a leader position. Pink Diamond was shattered (makes no difference by who) and Blue Diamond had stepped in to finish what she started. Yet Earth was never reclaimed and Blue was left compromised and broken.
Pink created Rose and Amethyst Quartz soldiers; they do have childlike qualities.
I like Pink. I feel for her. She seems bratty but if she really is the youngest of the diamonds than her bratty attitude makes sense. Sometimes the only reason children act out is because they see it as the only time they get attention from their parents. Even if Yellow is annoyed by her antics at least Pink knows Yellow knows she's there.
Okokok on why her mural being far from how she appears: obviously there are already a few that make sense, such as aging, but. Those could perhaps be coupled with this. Take into account that the diamonds wanted to keep their 'high and mighty' appearance. Would it be farfetched to believe the other diamonds would project the idea of a powerful Pink Diamond to the other gems to keep it up, as opposed to exposing her as weaker and childish, losing credit for diamond-kind? IDK, just my thoughts I guess

Tbh I love pink diamond, her character design and her personality. I can’t wait to see how it plays out or if she WAS shattered or not. Maybe White Diamond is keeping her captive in her I guess base or court. Hoping no one would shatter her. I feel sympathy for her. But I honestly can’t wait to see how it all plays out.
Tøpaz Yeah, she is definitely my new favorite diamond. Besides her beautiful design I think this is a good example of how the way someone is treated, especially when others are seen as greater than them, can effect how they act and what they do. She is an interesting character and I think she can be a good example of what mistreating people can make them do and act.

I think Pink’s Diamond is upside down purposefully. Just think yellow and blue are equals so their shapes are the same, they are in the middle of the diamond authority symbol and the shape of both their diamonds ♦️ Is a more symmetrical way to draw a diamond. This leads me to believe that white diamonds is the same shape as pinks but right side up. Just think about how the diamond authority symbol is with white at the top yellow and blue in the middle and pink at the bottom. Just a theory. We now know that the murals’ shapes and Diamond authority symbol is just a stylistic choice and doesn’t reflect what their diamonds look like.
Like how white is at the top and her gem is on her head, yellow and blue on their chest (the middle) and pinks on her stomach (the bottom).
My theory is that pink and white were the most powerful

I thought a similar thing for their sizes: Yellow and Blue Diamond are the same height, Pink is smaller.... Maybe White Diamond is twice as big - even in the adjourned Diamond Authority Symbol she is above Yellow And Blue
I feel it's worth noting the shape of Pink's gem, it's not a pyramid planted on a vertical wall with a snubbed top like the rest of the diamonds, it has a rounded bottom and a pointy top, in a 3 dimensional view looking at that gem from the bottom up it would look similar to a rose quartz gem, all pink diamond would need to do would be to change what plane her body forms on around her gem and she'd ba able to pass her gem off as a rose quartz, with the pointed end facing into her body, then a bit of shape shifting and she could look like rose

This may be a stretch but...What if Pink Diamond started the rebellion? She could've done it to prove that she just as capable as the other Diamonds. Knowing that she would be shattered if they lost the war, she ordered her Rose to shatter her. Her pearl knew of the plan so that's why she was ordered to go into hiding. That's my theory, anyway.

I also think the other diamonds hid her from everyone because she was defective and all gems don't see all the diamonds. Because if you remember Holly Blue Agate talking about she never expected to see Yellow Diamond in person. That let's you know gems in different courts hardly see each diamond

Yeah, she reminds me of Riliane Lucifen d‘Autriche from the Evillious Chronicles who is also based on Marie Antoinette. Maybe she really is alive due to Pink Pearl shapeshifting into her and being executed by the leader of the rebellion instead while PD goes into hiding, reflecting on what she has done.

I think that Pink diamond was the youngest and she’s small just like Amethyst was when we had that flash back episode. She also had no planets which means she hasn’t been around very long. That dream could’ve been hundreds of years before she finally got Earth and grew up to be as tall as the picture where she’s carrying destabilisers and fighting the crystal gems

Eddie Sam But youtubers review episodes and talk about their opinions on an episode. Other youtubers thought that she acted like a brat and she did act like one in this episode. She is a diamond and she is looked upon as a god by all other gems but has a temper tantrum because Yellow Diamond thought that she wasn't mature enough to have a colony and that temper tantrum proved the Yellow Diamond right that she wasn't acting mature. Steven Universe will likely dive deeper into Pink Diamond's character and there will probably be an episode that adresses her behavior but just because there is probably going to more behind Pink Diamond's character doesn't mean she wasn't acting like a brat in the episode.
i'm not saying they can't have opinions. i'm saying that they shouldn't see her tantrum as being a brat when they know nothing about her. They don't know her struggles or what she goes through on a daily basis. For all they know it could've been bottled up emotions just releasing themselves at that point due to anger. She is the 'child' after all, the youngest, she most likely hasn't matured yet. Kids aren't exactly angles all the time. And i'd think it's hard to act like the god you should be if you aren't given the responsibility of one. If you aren't treated as one.
I took it as the social skills of most young gems, actually. Amethyst was treated like the cute but vicious dog by the Crystal Gems until the (death?) of Rose aged them all, mentally and holographically. She even had similar short hair to what we have now seen of Pink.
Peridot also acted quite animalistic, before Steven helped educate her into being more docile (and sufferable).
If anything, this is indication that raising someone under, "You're not good enough, come back when you;re good enough," is not *nearly* as effective as, "Let me help you see where you're going wrong! I have faith that you can be better."

Not just parenting style, too, but of innate, gem, social dynamics. Gems act like animals. Not necessarily like corrupted gems, but those are the extreme cases which mirror how gems, when left with little to no guard, will act beastly, walking on all fours, sniffing, losing their tempers easily... The Crystal Gems have actual social skills to back them up, while Homeworld Gems have the caste system... but that doesn't do much of anything for interpersonal dynamics, like between the two Zircons we saw: preening with puffed up chest (more subtle, because lawyer); afraid and losing control of ability to hold in potentially threatening stances... then immediately cowering, may as well have piddled the ground in submission.

The reson pink diamond is so childish is because the other diamonds never trusted her with any sort of responsibility(before giving her earth). Without any responsibility being given to her, she simply never matured.

Infact after saw the different desine of Pink Diamond compareted with the mural, for me was strange. But I thought maybe when she colonised the earth or a little before she changes her body and her clothes (maybe also her personality a little), and I think was about what Yellow said to her to act like a Diamond. Also the hair style seems quite like Yellow's hair style, so I think: She alredy sees Yellow as a "mum" maybe she wants to be like Yellow, (because we know all the gems also Holly Blue under BLUE DIAMOND court thinks Yellow is e strong Diamond) for show to other she is strong and more responsable and not the defective one, (also for be more self-confident?).

Marcella Franco but she was still small during the war. In garnets depiction, looking at their placements, she's still obviously smaller than the other diamonds. Infact we should've known this all along. So her size doesn't seem to have changed at all. Maybe her style did, because she might've seen herself as a better, more grown version of her past self because of having a planet of her own, but definitely not her size.

Just a little note I thought interesting (before the vid) Notice the Diamonds' symbol: White (likely most powerful) is on top, Blue and Yellow are side by side (equally powerful and always close by each other) and Pink, who was hinted to be weak or defective in some way, is at the bottom, showing she was the weakest. Just that little symbol foreshadowed the unique dynamics of the DA's relationships with each other from the very beginning, kind of like Garnett always had two gemstones to show she was a fusion from the beginning. It's cool to think just how much of the story was planned to play out from the very start.

I honestly didn't notice them being shorter. The rest of their "appearance" can just reflect their inner age. Because they existed for what 5000 years (excpet for Amethyst) and suddenly grew up in 14 years since Steven was born? Doesn't sound quite right.

I can agree. Pearl isn’t the same height as Greg. But in a flashback, you can see the gems were smaller, younger appearing. As they age and mature, when they reform their light bodies, they change and mature with the mind of the gem
I noticed one thing after rewatching the episode of Jungle Moon. Pink managed to crack the glass despite her height, when Lars arrived with his ship the ship wasn't able to leave a scratch with its laser attacks or finish breaking the glass the big blob monster broke after SEVERAL head bangs. Meaning that even though Pink is small, she is still strong enough as a regular diamond.
I LOVE HER SO MUCH SHES SO BEAUTIFUL IM SO PROUD OF MY ANGRY PINK CHILD. She probably took her anger out on her subjects and could have been a cruel leader in some ways to the point where the rebellion started. Im so excited and I want to know more about her already!

I'm glad to see that I wasn't the only one to notice, about the size og Pink Diamond :) When it comes to how I think about Pink after this flashback reveal about her, I kind feel sympathetic for her, and it does bring some confirmation to a personal theory of mine about who, and why Pink Diamond was shattered.

This clip also revealed something else very important! I just thought of it watching this video. It also depicts the difference between Yellow Diamonds treatment of other species! From what we can tell Yellow Diamond sees organic life as inferior and during this memory scene we see her treatment of them. She doesn't care and wishes to eradicate them when in her way. However we see later on from the episode The Zoo how Pink Diamond wanted to treat humanity. Compared to Yellow Diamond, Pink was practically merciful wanting to preserve the human race even if the planet was turned into a colony. So now we have to wonder, to what degree was Pink Diamond Merciful? Was she really going to turn the Earth into a Full Colony? Did acquiring the Earth and making it her responsibility somehow change her outlook as compared to this Memory of Pink? SO MANY POSSIBILITIES X3

The reveal of her character breathed new life into the "Was she really shattered" question and I like that. People often imagined her to be like Rose, gentle in nature and capable of love for other life forms. It prepared the ground for all sorts of conspiracy theories of her staging her own death etc. But now, oh boy, she could have been a horrific leader and conquerer that "deserved" to be shattered. Or was she swayed by Rose and learned a lesson or...

Probably I wasn't the only one to think that, but I believe white diamond is actually a fusion of the other 3 diamonds. My biggest evidence is the floor of the trial scene, on episode "the trial": there are three strips of color, blue, yellow and pink, that match in the middle of the room, where the only white spot is seen: in the combination of the other 3.
This combination of colors make ruge sense if we look to light colors. Unlike the pigment colors that we are more used to, the combination of all light colors is white, and the 3 prime colors for light colors, are exactly the colors of the other diamonds (That also make sense since they're bodies are made of light).
If all of that is true, it would also justify the fact that white diamond is not present in the trial, because since pink diamond was killed, they can't form white diamond.
It also justify why never a homeworld gem in the series talks about white diamond as they're master, because as a fusion of the 3 diamonds, she doesn't exists at all time, so doesn't command any colony. She commands everything.

Wow cool. This got me thinking in another direction. What is the other diamonds are part of white diamond. As in white is an uncut natural rock but cut out the other diamonds.
I usually dont reply to comments that old, but this theory doesnt add up. What about the Era 2 diamond insignia on the floor of the space hand where garnet fought jasper? If white is just a fusion of the other diamonds why is she still included there? They cant form her anymore since pink died. So shouldnt there be a green diamond instead or something like that? Also on the murals in the moon base you can see the amount of colonies each diamond has. So the amount of colonies pink, yellow and blue have should match whites. But I dont think they do. I havent checked it though so you could be right there. Oh and although this hadnt been out yet when you wrote this but in the promo for the new episodes at april the 6th (I think) you can see the diamonds claiming planets. The only one we see white claiming is the very first at the top and blue and yellow claim a few, too. Finally pink claims earth (obviously). So if white is just a fusion it wouldnt make sense to give her an individual colour there, if you get what im trying to say.

Along with that, white diamond is superior to the other diamonds, and act not only as the supreme master of all gems, but also as a symbol of homeworld's power.
Not only they would prefer to maintain white diamond's image as the "savior/protector/founder" of homeworld, to keep their image as a solid power and to discourage possible revolts, as they don't need to change it, because no one knows about her true nature, and that's why she still in the era 2 symbol.
The new video actually help the theory. White diamond reaches out for only one planet, and we can assume that this is homeworld, the only planet that is not claimed by any of the other gems, or, all of them together. We don't know if the diamonds had to defeat some other species in the past, and used the power of the fused white diamond, and then she became the symbol of gem power that she is today. Or maybe in the past fusion wasn't a tabu, and white diamond wouldn't govern as herself, but then the diamonds realized that the only way other gems would be able to overthrown them, was with the power of fusions, and created the tabu theirselves, little by little, and then had to stop fusion in order to make that impression, but maintained her image as a symbol.
The gems are really practical, so they could have split simply so they could each one go to a different direction t colonize, or to manage different areas of homeworld needs. I believe that this is why we only see white diamonds hand claiming one planet in the video.
I just hope they manage to make her both complex but stay a formidable enemy/morally ambiguous character. The bratty yet tortured villain is a trope and can be done poorly if one isn’t careful. Thanks for uploading 🤓👍🏻

I don't quite recall why, but I get the impression that Jasper barely ever knew her, that she emerged just before her shattering. That it was mostly the propaganda and aftermath that roiled her rage and loyalty. After all, YD seems the type to rewrite history to make the deceased look better than they were.
And yes, which likely also goes into parenting styles, like how YD is *super* strict, like Dr. Maheshwaren, and the dad is eager to impress, glad to teach, and fine with intimidating, if necessary. Doting, but generally well-rounded.
Going with The Great Diamond Authority being the dark foil to The Crystal Gems, they may also be a dark foil to the family dynamics we have seen thru the Beach City townies. The negative consequences of strict *and* doting parenting, when not on a well-adjusted whelp, like Connie.
That also made me think, while watching, that White may be similar to Nanafua _and_ Garnet, as the well-adjusted, "much older" leader, except that Garnet's leadership style seems to vacillate between reactionary and proactive/active, while what we have seen of Nanafua went from reactionary to proactive, with the, 'we're all in this together, we all _have our place_ in making this place great.'
Something important to remember about Pink Diamond, this isn't necessarily how she will ALWAYS be. The scene we saw could be tens of thousands of years ago. She could have a much different personality and even appearance later on.

That flashback has me back in the Rose = Pink Diamond camp. Their facial structure is very similar and expressive in the same way. Also the powers we’ve seen (resurrection, healing, creation of intelligent plant life) go way beyond the scope of anything seen in any other class of gem.
