    I never imagined I'd see Harley making quiet electric bikes. They've always been the "Loud & Proud", gas-guzzling, oily, greasy, " 'MURICA!" boys. :)
    I love the shape of this one; it looks like you throw your leg over and just wrap around it and tuck in.
    We're getting such fantastic advancements in electric vehicles - except for the batteries, it seems. If these would do just 250-300m per charge, you'd see a lot of traditional vroomers switching over.

      These bikes are never meant to be far from home. The use case is you can make your full errand run or commute on a single charge. So the L3 charging isn’t supposed to be required. But there is a certain comfort level with having additional charging capability.

      I've been driving electric since 2011 and had a variety of cars and an electric BMW C Evolution scooter. I've always used L2 charging. DC fast charging has been useful only on rare occasions, both on my BMW EVs and my Tesla. I'd rather have L2 charging than L3. It's more useful and much more common. CCS charging is nice but it's a treat to have access to one. I had workplace charging at L2 but CCS DCFC is miles away.

    I have a 2021 Zero S and this is going to be a big competitor! My Zero gets about 100 miles in the city but about 70 on average if I am doing both highway and city streets.
    I love the way this looks! But still more expensive than the S even when you add a charge tank. My S with with tax and the charge tank upgrade was still about $2000-$3000 less than this one out the door. I think it looks nicer than the S though. 😊

    When you hear the rumble, you know it is a Harley; when you see its stance, you know it's a Harley. Ergo, in 100 years it will be the Harley old-school connecting me to my great-great-grandchildren; emissions made inert, parts protected to weather the passage of time, and with a turn of a key, Harley rumbles again in the future tense.
    As for the LiveWire: (Harley-Tactical) I see its potential as fit for purpose: Amended with H2 continuous torque and speed, augmenting battery pack: Conscientious as an Environmentalist, silent and stealthy as a Seal, quick and agile as a Marine and the covert tactical fortitude of the Green Beret: developed is well suited to offensive, defensive and emergency interventions, and when needed, the hyper-acceleration of Mr. Scotty's Star Trek's warp speed, at the flick of a switch.
    Now for the future tense: (Harley Thunder) the Harley Hydrogen fuel-injected Dual-V12 Hover Thunder: Vertical take-off thrusters, boisterous rumbling thunderous calling card its DNA of original genesis, atmospheric aero-dynamic generating atmosphere, self-contained life-support energy on call, purified oxygen and water; able to meet and defeat the extreme conditions of the ongoing climate crisis.
    Now this is Harley beyond contestation remains rumbling thunderous in the genesis, the now & future tense.
    Na Mickey

    I wish LiveWire would have learned from the HD LiveWire and the LiveWire One. I hope LiveWire will add a full rear fender to the LE and Production bikes. If this is meant to be a commuter and not just a sunny day ride, the rider(me) wants to be protected from the water being sprayed up from the tires. • @geemy9675
      @geemy9675 Před rokem +3

      @@Electrek yes. look for range test between the livewire one and zero sr/s ridden back to back. you'll see that zero is a bit like the tesla of e motorcycles, advertises way more range than they have. other brands are sometimes optimistic too, but way less. Harley is more conservative (and accurate) about the range so I'd expect the same on their second model.
      BTW the range test also stated that the livewire one was better to ride, on top of having better range. if the S2 is actually 3s to 60mph, and delivers on the range, weight, its actually quite competitive with zero's if you either add a power pack or take a bigger battery model, add a quick charger option, considering the livewire come with quicker charging from the factory, quicker acceleration than any zero motorcycle. moreover livewire doesnt put software limits on the performance, range, and charging speed.

      less weight is an advantage for agility, fun, and lower speed riding, tight low speed corners, while more weight can be an advantage for comfort, high-speed stability, or just highway cruising with traffic, wind. weight can also help if you are heavy yourself, a very lightweight motorcycle could feel odd.

    Yes, it looks cool, but the price combined with the very limited range and level-2 charge time form a disappointing equation for purchasing one, unless it'll just be an expensive, occasional-use toy. I like the idea, but - at this price, with so many other options for a highly-entertaining motorcycle - this bike still requires being an EV-fanatic. Solid state batteries should change this situation for the better, in a few years.

    since Harley has a lot of knowledge about making V 2ins, i wonder why they have not yet come up with the idea of an engine where one half of that V 2in is Petrol engine (about 400cc) and the other half is an electric motor with regenerative tech. Petrol tank on top of that engine (like normal) and a battery pack under the seat (like Vrod had it).

      A bit like over here in Europe... The only good Harley is the V-Rod. But in America they hate it on principle because its got a Porsche engine.
      But yeah heritage and brand identity in marketing was kinda my education. And I see this with american brands all the time. As if, when they struggle to sell, they "rebrand" themselves rather than admit their product isnt very appealing. Like the Viper logo changed 3 times, Corvette going the same way. And Harley gave up on the entire US of A, and moved to Germany where there is still a hard core of people in their 60s with money and an interrest in that old American FREEEEDOM myth.
      So yeah. In the US, for some inexplcable reason that nobody except right-wing extremists would understand... Electric motors are becoming anti-american now. Several states wanting to ban electric cars and desperately fighting any hint of the future.

    • @AdventuresonZero
      @AdventuresonZero Před rokem

      @@captain_context9991 for the banning debacle, I think it's a natural reaction to people that also don't want to be mandated that they have to accept only one form of transportation - the petrol industry is still big here and it's hitting people hard. My mother's husband was laid off back in August and is struggling to find work - he's been in the oil industry his whole life.
      I honestly think the electrical auto industry, and those that push it heavily, need to slow down a bit and let it naturally build out. I think people like us are just caught between the extremes on both sides.

      America.... Is PROUDLY conservative. Ultra conservative. And conservative means just that. To conserve... To never change. To always keep things exactly how they are. The way its always been. When people talk about making America great again... Taking the country back. Back to a time when blacks and women knew their place. Back to a time when the chemical waste from factories went right into the local river and nobody cared. Back to when a whole town could live on that old steel mill up in the hills. When you could make a living off a barbershop in the high street.
      Back to whenever you were tired of school, you could walk down to the local car plant where your uncle worked and get a job for life fitting fenders to GM trucks with zero skills, education, or training. And buy a house and a colour TV on your way home.
      Back to when all you needed was a gun, a horse, and a sunset to ride into. On your pursuit of happiness. Thats the myth, the American fairytale that never really existed.
      Then the government "mandated" helmets when you ride a motorcycle. And the same exact talk started. Same as when the government wanted cars to be crash tested. Seatbelt mandates, and no drinking while driving. I CANT BREATHE with a helmet on, they said. I have a medical condition, others said. Exactly like today with the Covid masks and stuff. Word for word the exact same argumentation.
      And even today its seen as "sticking it to the man", being a rebel, not doing what they tell you, when you ride a Harley without a helmet on.
      Slow down? How could America possibly progress any slower. Oh, right I was talking about conservativism. The exact opposite of progressive. Which is to look forwards to new technology and new science, technology, and innovation.
      But in a society so PROUD of their cowboy heritave, aint nobody want none of that progressive stuff. And in the world of Trumpism, if its not ultra conservative, its not American. And its not American, then its anti-american and evil. In the same way christians used to label anything thta wasnt christian, antichrist and automatically evil.
      And in their effort to be against all that, they have now gone on an all-out war on education, intellect, expertise, and science.
      Obviously electric cars fall under that. And obviously all this rethoric and all these talking points are heavily bought and paid for by the also extremely subsidised US oil industry.
      Thats how it is. Living under fascism. Also known as "Under the corporate thumb" Its quite frankly AMAZING How OK America is with this.
