I just can’t see how people pay good money for an atv, especially a 4 wheel drive, to let it set out and get in this condition. Joe to the rescue
Yeah I just don't get how it can get to this point!
@@2vintage, Joe it's just that some folks want all the fun of an ATV, but besides gas and oil, they're not willing to invest in keeping up the maintenance.
Bad for them, good for us as we get to enjoy seeing you doing what you do best, buying and fixing the stupid!😅😊
Great video brother!
Allan in Columbia, SC
Cause they didn't pay for it
@@2vintage because they didn't pay for it in most cases. Great job 👍
I don't either. I just bought myself a new Honda Rancher and it was $7,000. I would never neglect it like this, it simply cost me too much money.
I bought myself one of those plastic welders earlier this week and I was surprised how well it worked. Used it to fix a crack in my dad's Honda Recon. $25 well spent
I keep saying I'm going to buy 1
@@dmo848 Definitely a good thing to have! Hopefully I won't have to use it on my 23 Honda Rancher but just in case lol
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING THAT THINGS WILL RUN WHEN THE BATTERY IS HOOKED UP
Big brother to my Ozark. Oh I want it. 4x4 Suzuki baby. Oh yeah. Built to last here
Absolutely love this channel… Bought a 2015 CR250 , used your videos to rebuild… took me over a month..lololol.. I had to sell at a major loss to help with my newborn granddaughters surgeries…. Maybe one day I will be able to do it again… at least I have your videos to remind me of what I accomplished with the 2-stroke….
rebuilding something and making it run is the most fun a man can have in life don’t keep wishing brother fix and flip them with ur spare time even if u do a bike a year still good fun rather than none
Love to see someone who can fix instead of replacing it is becoming a lost art
I’m 16 in the past 1 years I’ve gotten 2 free quads that were broken down sitting for years and fixed them in a matter of hours and they run fine. I sold the first one for $500 and keeping the 2nd one
That thing running is probably not worth $250. Hahahaha
That machine is in very rough shape! I think $250 was a decent deal especially for a guy who can fix it and get it going. I love these kind of videos and the resourcefulness of people who can take something like this and make it work.
Thank you for sharing. At 73 I learned that there is a plastic repair fix tool.
Glad to see the main issue was just the belt. This should be a real nice quad once you fix it all up and shouldn't cost a ton of money or your time. Solid purchase Joe😊
Nice fix, but way more than 20mins, more like 4hrs I’d say
That's how i got my 05 Yamaha Bruin 350 4x4. I was told it wouldn't move and had bad wheel bearings. Turns out the bearings were good just loose wheel nuts and the belt was shredded. Got a new belt from ebay and it's been driving around great till the cv axles broke on me last week hauling in firewood
im honestly surprised on the price difference in different countries. Here where im from, even the most beat up, 20+ years old quad or dirt bike wont go for less than 1k.
$1500 for junk where I live.
Looks like the quarter from the beginning of the video is going to go a long way to pay for all the repairs. Always informative and entertaining
Remember kids, the drain bolt only has to be tightly snugged, not torqued tf down . Should have a crush washer aswell, atleast for the old yammys nd hondas
These are good quads I can’t believe how people tear stuff up and neglect Super dependable
Those starters need to have the brushes cleaned. Tapping on the starter helps for awhile.
Had the same problem with the starter on my King Quad. Carbon build up on the brushes. When you tapped it with a hammer you reset the brushes. I ended up rebuilding mine.
I enjoy watching your videos. I just started my CZcams channel not too long ago. I own and operate a repair shop here in NC. Been working on Motorcycle's and ATV 's for a little more than 15 years now. Keep up the great work and again I enjoy watching you.
I'm so glad you pulled that belt cover off lol. I was screaming at the TV when you was talking about pulling the side cover off and draining the oil 😂
Man obviously not enough or no maintenance to that machine. Good thing it was just a belt not the whole clutch. Good deal love these easy jobs 👍🏼
Can't say how much I enjoy your channel. I used to be in QC at the plant that made the Eiger and it was a POS in 2007 and it still is. Glad to see that a mechanic got a hold of it.
Why was it a pos?
I have the same machine w/ plow (But in mint condition)! Mine only has 1200 miles and has been a plow quad / farm tool it's whole life and well maintained. That's a great quad and not well known. I got mine for $2,000 with plow and winch. On another note, I've found simple issues that render machines useless to certain people, typically college grads who are among the dumbest people, offer a great deal to other people who have real world knowledge & experience. The owner of a company I previously worked at, who was in his mid 20s at the time and had inherited his ownership from his Father, asked me if his household furnace ran on gas or electric. This guy had a Bach degree in Mechanical Engineering but didn't know what his furnace ran on. I told him it actually used both electric and gas but the primary energy source was gas. That was 15 years ago. I'm certain the colleges are churning out more idiots than ever before.
When a Idiot goes to college/university and gets an "education" he/she is an educated idiot as are most democRATs....!
copper anti seize grease for those rear brake pivots
Another good day I get to learn more on how to fix stuff
Fun to see you bring these machines to life!
Amazing how they are some simple fixes and PO’s don’t take the time to really dig deep to find a solution.
Great job.
I am admired you haven't bought a small vehicles lift stand yet. I think it would save your back a lot!
Keep up the good work.
In the bikes best interest, those back tires need to be the same size or the rear diff is going to be next. Good job on diagnostics Joe. Save em all if you can.
You should try to repair flat tire before throwing a new tire on it.
Probably just put it on to make it a roller
Solid rear end .. it won't do it any good but that's not a real differential another word that doesn't have spider gears.
The word differential on a rear end means tires will spend at different speeds going around the corner remember that's a four-wheeler and they don't have that they're positive traction
Look at the drive belt
Good to see there’s still some good deals out there in todays economy 😂
Joe is amazing I watch him for therapy. I'm old and never was mechanically inclined. To see this man tear stuff apart and know exactly where stuff goes is mind boggling to me. What a great channel and gow he shows us everything it is absolutely 💯 amazing live this guy and his channel. I also live how he explains as if to a newbie. Wow Joe!!!❤
U can just glue the friction material back on to the brake shoe. Ive done it before with jb weld and works great
My cup of joe' and a video from Joe. Winning!
You do such a great job of fixing everything. Most guys would just put the belt in and make money. You show pride in your work and fix everything. I would not be hesitant to buy anything from you. Good honest mechanic. Great job.
I absolutely love the video! Awesome to see your knowledge at work!
Great save spotting the shifter goes through to the other side.👍
Good job bud, love seeing you fix these old quads. My uncle had one like that when o was younger, it was a beast.
It may be a good idea to service the sheaves on the drive line. We recently serviced our sheaves for our Yamaha SxS. Tink seal is awesome.
You should have taken the plastics off to repair them. Then afterwards tape all the cracks on the front side the side you would normally see. And fill the backside with a little epoxy to help the staples and for extra strength. You could even tape the holes and add epoxy to fill the few holes in the plastics
Joe ,
Try using painters tape to hold outside of plastics tight together while you weld the underside. Good job on your troubleshooting & repairs enjoyable video .
Buddy; i hear you say ,"lucky," often. Luck is not involved, your experience and knowledge is what get you to the solution/fix; take care.
Come to West Virginia and see how things get to be in that shape. Since moving here almost a year ago I’ve seen more ATV’s, motorcycles, and cars destroyed due to sheer neglect.
You are the best mechanic for motocross bikes from me on CZcams 😊
The way those fenders are, you could probably put generic flares over the outer ledge, and hide the missing chunks of plastic. Nice work.
Love the custom seat cover ! Lol 😂 people don’t take care of anything! Geez 🙄👍🏻💯
Yeah this one was bad!
What do you expect for $250 can easily flip for more as sits. You got a steal on it
That's a good score, simple fixes, easy way to flip, and should be able to sell for $1200.
Great video.
I am so happy to see you working on this Suzuki.
I have the same unit and it runs and shifts fine but my shifter is sloppy. So now I see it is not intimidating to adjust it.
My rear breaks work but the foot break is solid so I have to figure that out but the hand break works.
Also need to change the gasket on the valve cover because it leaks to the point of smoking as oil burns off the head.
But it is a workhorse.
I know about mechanics and not afraid to dig into things.
But seeing you do things on the same unit is like a instructional video.
Thanks for doing what you do.
Great videos.
Cool Thanks Joe
It this a real prize or a bot.
@@JonGunnerOutdoors SPAM!
Yes I caught that. Dude was trying to give away prizes under Joe's name and channel.
Check spring to be in the correct spot and the shifter arm spring to. Cause it could stuck clutch plates due to out of fluids in the case.,or just shot out. That pin has to be there for sure. There's your problem with it your right on that part Joe. Without that pin it will not shift into gear at all. It's not allowing it to go fully into gear all the way cause it's missing now.
Suzuki Eigers are tanks. I love them
Great vid as usual!!! Dont know how people buy from private sellers. Im looking to buy a motorcycle in the spring. I know dealerships arent perfect, but id rather take my chances on one than a random person. Anyhoo, anyone on here have or ever had a Yamaha vstar 250??? Just wondering what theyre like...
BRAVO to you for taking on challenges. Looked beyond repair.
I would replace the petcock on this. I just recently picked an Eiger up from my buddy and it was a fun little project to get running.
All good work. One suggestion for the plastic frame, one that will change your life.
Super glue and baking soda. Mix the two together (Wear gloves obviously), and brush it on the seems as to join two pieces back together, clamp into position, allow to dry. Good as new. It will be a stronger bond than the surrounding plastic.
Great job...new subscriber. Watched 5-6 videos in one day. slap some fiberglass on the plastic/sand and paint. Good as new.
I got a 94 250 quad runner and its in great shape. Used it as my daily trail bike lol. But, i bought a 2023 750 king quad today.
Good work young man!!
I repaired the front inner fender on my Ford car once by plastic welding it with a big soldering iron and you use spray paint Lids for a filler there made it the same plastic. It worked great.
That’s a nice Jack 👌
Nice cheap fix good machine and winch too. I’d just fibreglass the holes and chuck a a coat of bed spray over it would look cool and be super resilient
Awesome repair video mate. Can't wait to see you zooming around on it! Could you not plug the tyre?
Great Learning Experience. Thank you
love this machine
I'm sorta new to the channel
I was wondering why don't you have atv / bike lift I know there come with a hefty price tag
But when you get older the idea of rolling around on a cold and wet floor and laying in gravel does lose its appear.I used to pull a wrench on cars and light trucks my knees are shot so working on a lift has great appear now thank for the video and good luck
What I found is that if I get some small cable ties and drill pairs of holes along the crack it's easier to keep them aligned while you put the stitches in with your gun. Of course you do have to go back and fill the holes you drilled.
That is a real side hill machine.
I might be wrong but dont all tyres have to be the same overall diameter, otherwise in your case the front tyres will cover the ground slower than the rears? It might make is squirm a bit in mud and do damage on the road!
Man I need you to rebuild my honda 300 4x4 engine I'd buy everything and ship it to you I've watched you for years and you fix everything
Try taping the outside of the plastics together nice and tight before pushing the staples into the underside. You'll get a better result. Obviously, then you remove the tape. Give it a try. It's way better than trying to hold it together while trying to insert the staples. Good luck. Great deal for $250.
The stager on the tires is for the dirt track turns
I'd check the bead seal around the rim and tire. And check the valve stem for leaking to along with the tire to rim bead seal. Soapy water in A sprayer bottle does the trick on that part. And simplifies it to. Witch basically narrows it down to the exact location and problem of what's actually wrong with that tire and rim not staying aired up to Joe.
I bought a similar condition 2004 Suzuki 350 king quad, what a job to fix what others have broken, A 2004 350 Suzuki king quad with Winch, steel racks tow hitch installedand did run when purchased with a jump, but a lot of work to get it running for a a weekend.
I like following this guy I’ve stopped at a couple others there not for me.😮 I’d almost buy one if I wasn’t scared of getting junk.How-he finds them so reasonable.
Great find and great job🎉🎉
20 minute fix, 45 minute video. Not complaining, just an observation.
Check 15a fuses by solenoid, they blow out all the time...
Joe where You been . I have miss your positive and thorough way you go about fix none running engines. It’s like watch poetry in motion. I have learned. More about engines in the last year.watching 😂on here to my small knowledge of having a mix lot of bikes. Thank you for Your knowledge
Can't wait for you and Vinny to get out in the test field and rip it!
I watch so many this will teach me. Thanks 😊😊😊😊
USE THIN METAL STRIPS (PAINTED) ON THE FENDERS FOR REPAIR AND STRENGTH. CUSTOMIZED ONE OF A KIND. GOOD LUCK
Just seeing this one. Have you ever had to replace the wheel bearings on a 4 wheeler yet ?
Love watching you tackling the ratty stuff and problem solving. 👍
Sorry if I comment too much, love watching your content. In South Africa and only have access to internet when we have power, download your content and it keeps me entertained during the blackouts.👍
She's a beaut, Clark ! 😘
Just a little tip Joe. I hate telling people how to do things, but when you test a starter, best to put the positive lead on the nut and then arc the negative. You can weld that nut on there the way you did it
Sometimes starter have worn or stuck brush , if you knock it with hamer that will fix it , so ill recomend a hamer to the starter first next time 😊
It will make the left turn better, must have been prepping for Nasquad
my dad and i re built 2 quads one was a quadrunner the other was a king quad... we found a really good company that does brand new plastic for some older atvs and quadrunner models they looked great and fit perfectly .. if i get the name of them again i could send the info to you.
They come with springs to mine did when I got new rear breaks on my 05
Nice pick up.
Здравствуйте! А почему вариатор не вращается когда двигатель работает на холостых оборотах? На коленчатом валу еще центробежное сцепление где-то стоять должно. Где оно находится?
The starter works now because the commutator got moved and the brushes weren't making good contact at that particular spot. A tap with a hammer would have done the same thing.
Looks like the same engine on the Arctic Cat 400 you worked on. Which do you think is easier to work on? I wonder if they get the same amount of gas mileage.
I just picked up a old 4wd wolverine. Engine seems to run strong but carb needs a little work. It will need axle boots, seat recovered. The brakes work but are so low they're likely done.new front tires but very old shot rears.
And a new battery in it that may not be charging.
The question is whether or not it is worth fixing.
It was a 1 owner bike used by an old man around the farm.
And that's how these old bikes end up so rough.
You always have my attention.
interesting project ride it defensively .. it will last for ever driven sensibly . i Have recently re welded some plastic inner wheel arches using a mains soldering iron and a bunch of cable ties melted into the broken panels .
I dont see you using a torque wrench to tighten parts. Is this good practice?
Ya know you can run tunes in all those tires.
"Defnuhly" and "Intresting" are not words.
Those staples are designed to follow the crack and not across it if possible. Great find for 250
Might work well to tape the body pieces back together and weld while held in place
Just make sure the FN lights work Joe 😂😂
Reminds me of my great uncle's farm 300 fourtrax it had four different tires on it the last time i saw it.
See that a lot with those bigger Eugers. Damn Suzukis.impossible to swap on the trail. Put some grease on those rollers they'll stay put during reassemly.
get the rear tires to be the same size, when plastic welding clamp the 2 pieces together to keep them in place before welding! Belt replacement remove outer clutch part, insert belt and then reinstall....
