Absolutely agree. I’ve done faster pulls by changing up short of the Rev limiter. I also find hot tyres helps a lot. Some of my best hooked pulls have been after I’ve been driving at 70 mph and pull up at a set of lights. If I’m just driving around locally although the car is up to temp the tyres aren’t as I’ve only been cruising around at low speeds.

from my experience launching the car, at redline it cuts throttle so when you smack the limiter at each shift for anything more than a few tenths of a second, you lose nearly half a second in the 0-60. you can tell by the pitching of the camera angle that the car is pitching forward before the shifter even moves, this is showcasing the throttle cut. shifting at 5700 works best from what i found, especially since the power kinda fades off after 5252 rpm

I wouldnt spend much time chasing 0-60 times when modding a turbo fwd car. Once you keep adding power, that number will eventually stay the same or deminish/get worse due to traction. Thats why people will ask for the 60-130 times, really shows how the cars parts and tune work together and pull it through the powerband.

Small correction. There is now also the XDI replacement high pressure fuel pump. With the stock, OEM injectors and OEM tank fuel pump, this is capable of producing around 480 HP. With a higher volume tank fuel pump and either Hondata or XDI injectors, the pump is capable of producing over 600 HP.
The XDI fuel pump is also capable up to 8500 RPM, according to their website information. I read elsewhere that is better to limit it to 7800 RPM, but I cannot recall where I read that.

People want to argue how you can setup a FWD car to launch wel, and then talk about drag strip times when discussing street driven vehicles. Well, I find that odd because drag strip vs the street are completely different scenarios haha, but to put it in perspective, the CTR that did a 10.2 at the drag for the world record, if a RWD car had the same power as that CTR, the time would be in the 9’s. It’s basic physics people!! Launching a FWD car is just not as good as a RWD or AWD platform. Period.

    I never launch my FWD MK7 GTI 6spd manual IS38 400whp because:
    1. It just hurts the clutch so much and not worth a clutch upgrade just to launch the car
    2. No matter how well you do on the launch in the street, the 0-60mph time will always be slow compared to a RWD or AWD setup. My stock E46 M3 did 4.8 seconds all day long, with less power than my modified MK7 GTI, all because it’s RWD.
    2. No matter the tire mods, suspension, how well you launch it, it will always be slow.

5.52 is still good and faster for Type R in 60 Second. 0-60 second is not important but important is that you drove fast as you can and see what was the second, that’s it. Maybe you should try meth kit to help the turbo spool with cooling down and could be help the turbo engine gain more hp and torque. Good luck!

For 0-60 you gotta use drag racing tricks, traction will absolutely help. Suspension tweaks can change the weight shift on launch. And if you want the best surface you need to use a prepped track. But I respect the homegrown tuner thing very cool.

The gear ratios on most Honda's are not for the best 0-60 times. More like for taking off from a dead stop on a hill with a fully loaded car without the need to slip the clutch, making a shift to third necessary to reach 60. It's high time Honda made 1st and 2nd gear taller. Soo...when u add power, they just spin like crazy. They now have high torque motors and do not need short lower gears. A 0-80 or 1/4 mile time would be more representative of your added power. I know your trying to keep things legal on the street. Enjoy!

the 0 - 60 runs is something this car is just not meant to be good at. FWD with a short ratio manual that requires shifting to third to reach 60, means that you have no chance of being fast to 60. At least not on the street tires. It's okay though, this car is meant for limit handling on a twisty mountain road. Stop trying to get the car to do something it was never designed for.

@@TORQToolbox There are def pro's and con's to Direct Injection.. For a nice daily sports car, its great. It burns good and gets great efficiency and combustion so you can get more power and torque. Problem comes down to flow and and tuning and higher RPM and HP applications. VERY difficult to get right on the tuning side and its very difficult to flow enough fuel. This and DI tends to gunk up SUPER fast when pushing a lot of fuel. Carbon deposits will take their toll. I have nothing against Direct Injection, just not for making Power in these motors. Its just not ideal because these K motors just flow so damn good up top its almost a sin to limit those heads with Direct Injection. But I get why they do it. I think 4-Piston said that with the DI, the K20C1 flows about 2/3rds as good as the old K-series head, and when the DI is removed, the flow the same if not better.
