    Zed keep the full length vids (on any subject) coming because to those of us who are new to wood carving in particular, we can sit, observe and follow the procedures and always have something to replay and refer to over again and again and are more educational than most.... so great as always, steve.

    I found a great source of wood. At our local tip there's a big area where people bring their green waste. I asked if I could have a look and got some fantastic pieces of apple, casuarina and others i'm not sure about. It was all fresh and fantastic. Next time I'll take my little chainsaw though.. I processed it all into billets quickly and it's swimming in water but might put some into the freezer as well. Fab video - thanks Jill and Zed.

    WOW! Double thumbs up. I must complement you and Jill most thoroughly: Jill for her patience talking and carving and instructing, all at the same time--and you, Zed, for your very skillful videography and reporting/narration; you knew the best questions to ask of Jill, and it really made the video worthwhile. As I have told other worthwhile videographers, I have a library on my drive called, "WOODSLORE"--and this video shall certainly take its place there; this is History.. Thank you, Jill and Zed, for a happy hour! :)

    awesome video Zed! I have watched many of your videos on the same or similar topic. Pure genius and informative. Facts are that I am running out of videos on spoon carving. I've recently started myself and have the basics in tools. A Ben Orford medium crook knife being my best tool thus far. Jill is a great teacher and she seems so friendly. I've learned everything I know about spoon carving from great people like Jill, Ben, Anna, Lee, and Barn. I'd like to start a collection from greats like these. keep the great videos coming and I'll keep watching. A pity there isn't more emphasis on bushcrafting where I live.

    I really enjoyed your video with Jill. I am just getting started with spoon carving. My other favorites are Jon Mac and Ben Orford. People can Google them if they are interested. I liked the length as it was not chopped up. I could see the length at the bottom of the screen by the play button. If you get negative comments on the length just put a note at the begining of the video that it is about an hour long. Then it is up to them. I would enjoy other carving videos if you were to make them. Once again thanks Jill and you for taking the time to make it. Oh yes enjoyed the rain. I live in Southern California USA near Disneyland and all we hear on the news is how bad the drought is. :-)

    It's gone partly well and partly bad!! Found a knot or bit of rot right in the centre of my ash branch, handle ended up being half the size as I'd planned, but the bowl looks good!! It's now a child size spoon so one for the daughter to use haha!! :)

    I come from a family of carpet / flooring installers. I was told from early on that you should always cut towards yourself. That way you do not cut the furniture. Skin heals and carpet is fixable, that oak or maple trim is expensive.

    • @Zedoutdoors
      @Zedoutdoors  Před 8 lety

      You can do but you need to be careful how long you leave it in there for as otherwise it can soak up too much water and be difficult to carve with. Whats easier is to cover it with shavings and put in dark place ~Peace~
