Great information and teaching. Thank you for sharing Martin's skills with Zed and Martin. I have been wanting to find some burls and carve my own Kuksa and spoons. With the awesome video, I am confident that I could that now. I have carved a few spoons already and am ready to move on to new things. Btw, we have arrested Philip now. LOL I live the neighboring state of Ohio, next to Indiana. I think it is great that Philip was able to get ou some wood that is not native to your area.

Zed I'm SO GLAD Martin let you film his wonderful work!! He is truly a master and also an excellent teacher. I picked up so many axe tips from him. One habit I have to break myself of is moving the axe in different directions, rather than keeping it vertical and moving the wood around). I've mostly just been practicing on wood scraps making spoons and believe me, most of them are little disasters!😆 I think that if I sent you a picture of them it would make you physically ill, haha...But Martin had such clearly-explained carving tips and also the common mistakes people make. I have always loved burled/burred wood but I've never actually seen it being carved. It really is surprising inside, and also I didn't know that it tends to change shape a bit as it dries out.
Thanks for a super video, Zed! You did an amazing job filming, and you also asked some really good questions! Cheers!
    Stella

Lovely informative video again Zed and the end product is a vision of beauty. The woven baskets behind you at the end looked excellent too - you know some really good craftsmen and it is awesome to see their skills being brought to a wide audience.

Amazing being able to create a bespoke work of art from what is little more than a tree wart. A lot of wood carvers would leave these, considering them waste. Atb.
