Remember Flashdance - welder by day, dancer by night? This guy is probably a spoon-carver by day, brain-surgeon by night such is his eye-hand coordination. I lost track of how many times I said "No way!" out loud. Like whalloping the lower axe corner in to start off the bowl. If I tried that with my G-B Swedish carver I'd lose the end off the spoon at best, a finger at worst. Truly impressive.
This is really mesmerising stuff. Who'd have thought someone shaving slices off a stick of wood could be so compelling? And loving the audio, letting the tools and wood provide the music and narration.
The sheer joy of watching a master craftsman at work and no irritating music. Barn, the man
he's worth a sub!
Proof that you don't need a shop full of expensive tools. A few simple, basic, tools, and skill (practice !), and you can produce something beautiful, and, as a bonus, useful.
These are the best spoon carving videos I've seen on CZcams
Thanks William for the boost! We love making the films and are proud when we see people enjoying them. We have membership available with over 60 hours of films over at spoonclub.co.uk
@@SpoonClub very relaxing thanks for uploading video ❤👍🐺🐾
By far
right! It's crazy to me this has less than 100k views.
the confidence he puts in his deep cuts is what seperates barn from other carvers in my opinion.
Incorrect! With practice, you can carve spoons as great as Barn does. What separates Barn from others is his impact on the spooncarving community; the way he has inspired many to take up this extraordinary craft.
Wonderful to see you liberate a shapely spoon from a chunk of wood without so much as a pencilled design. Masterful.
Man alive...an absolute master at his craft!! He sliced up an AWESOME piece in less than half an hour...amazing!💪😎👍
Wow. You’re incredibly skilled. I feel like I’m watching a living legend.
Shout out to the camerman for captioning every angle of this highly skilled craftsman.
Wow, mesmerizing transformation from firewood to table. Thank you!
P.S.: the camera work is amazing. Job well done...
How can you not be captivated by the passion and control, along with the functional design of the tools. That hook knife and the handle length, gave a level of leverage and control I've not seen. Admittedly I'm very new to this. Awesome video to watch.👍🤝
its soo nice to look back on these silent carving clips, its very good camera angels and that slightly bend on the Moraknife :)
Excellent carving video, no words needed. Thank you.

Watching a craftsman at work, with no irritating, distracting music playing in the background!
Wonderful! Thank you for posting your video on You Tube.
Watching the master spoon Carver at work is mesmerizing. Hoping to get to his shop next week and have a chat about his spoon and wood choices. Awesome Barn!
Tools with a keen edge and a carver with an even keener eye, truely a joy to watch.
Absolutely mesmerizing to watch him work !!
He should be regarded as a national treasure and studied. Because he peels away wood like an apple and can visualize the shape of his projected piece as he looks at it after each modification that his tools render to the remaining block and he strategizes how the next cuts will affect the shape
incredible skill, really enjoyed this video. look forward to seeing more. keep up the excellent work!
What a master! Stunning! 👏🏻
That was incredible, outstanding, superlatives are inadequate. Nicely done.
You make this look so easy. Truly amazing.
More videos please! These are the best on YT!
It's just an art and science ! Great job.

Ah man. You make it look as easy as peeling potatoes! Great video.
Amazing!
I would love to see a sharpening video
So would I. His knives are scary sharp!
Hi Jack. We have a plethora of sharpening films with Barn, from straight knife, spoon knife and axe through to tool modifications and hollow grinding. You can access them all through membership over at spoonclub.co.uk - we hope to release some on here soon too!
@@mrhockett1Me too! Yesterday I bought a vintage Ochsenkopf cleaver, I suspect from the pre-Gedore era. It's the most beautiful thing but about as sharp as a cucumber...
Ame tu Cuchara!! 😍👏👏Benditas tus Manitos Amigo!! desde Chile un Abrazo
Cuanta práctica con la hachuela. Felicitaciones

Enjoy your carving foray, I've been hooked for about six years
Good work, congratulations!

This man has the control and precision of a CNC machine. Impressive.
DANG ! Beauty spoon , Beauty job.

Barn in my opinion is the best spoon carver out there
The slightly curved sloyd knife... Brilliant

Artist with an axe
I never thought that you could be so accurate with a hatchet
Absolutely beautiful!!!
A little after 15 mins, he clears his throat, the rest of the time was the wonderful music by his work.
Thank you very very much, what craftsman skills. I'm of the belief that I've seen you and have been extremely impressed by your amazing skill, what an amazing accomplishment!!!

Incredible
Subscribed.
You are a true craftsman who is very pleasing to watch. How long have you been doing this?
GREAT SKILL, MEDITATIVE. (I ALSO FIND THE SHAVINGS STICK TO A WOOL SHIRT OR SWEATER.)
j'ai cherché longtemps, mais là, j'ai trouvé le "Paganini" de la hache, impressionnant !
Great job and expertise in using tool, it’s a pleasure to follow your hands! What kind of wood?
I would love to see more videos. Are there more available?
Awesome.
Your hands use to be to make this 👍
Salute from Turkey 👋
Nice and relaxing work!
What kind of wood are you using? Greetings from Mexico!
A magnificent spoon.... made by what is perhaps the most frightening woodcarver I've ever seen.
I have no skill!
Also that hook knife is freakin sick!!
Awesome! I must say that is a massive hook knife lol
Enjoyable
They say he carved it himself...
...from a bigger spoon.
Ark A.H. Really
Barn is the King
The Spoon Whisperer!
Great work Barn is that a Robin Wood carving Axe? I bought one from him last year and it’s terrible the grinds are really narrow uneven and obtuse it won’t take or hold an edge
Amaizing
verry nice movie thanks.
i see the bent in the knife works well.how did you bend it can i ask.
greets 🌳
Complimenti opera magistrale !
Posso chiederti che legno hai usato e quali secondo te sono i più adatti a questo scopo?
Grazie!!!
Goodnight everyone
The spoon was there all along!
1:42 2:51 That axe makes a nice tone.
The embodiment of a craftsman!! (person if you want!)
Greetings from Athens, Greece! New to wood carving, really enjoying your videos, great craftmaship. What kind of wood do you use here? After carving do you use sandpaper? And what finishing product/oil, do you suggest for food-safe finishing? Thanks for your time!
He is using alder ( it says in the description ) and dose not use sandpaper, its not needed! linseed oil is really good for annything edible! hope this helped (: (though i am pretty late replying XD )
What happened to the tip of your knife ? Another great vid BTW
Craft with a difference🎯🍺👍💯.
Where do you get those bigger carving tools? I have two smaller ones and gouges, but only like 1/4 of that size. I can't find bigger ones like that anywhere. I love your videos by the way.
Hi Tim - this is a Twca Cam made by Ben Orford
I admire your skill and talent, because getting an axe to hit where you want is not that easy. Damn, that's 2 fingers now.
“Look what I found inside that block of wood I was chopping!”
if you could please provide the wood size and species it would be of benefit. great video and very informative. thanks
Then it would no longer be a silent carving....lol
It could just be written in the description and therefore still be silent and informative
@@joumana1275 and of course there's the troll that is just so "smart" they need to correct a joke...😏
And of course there’s the troll that feels the need to spread negativity
@@joumana1275 lol... don't you have a fortnite game to get to?

Que hoooot 😍😍😍
One spoon to rule them all
Spoon drop!
Is that wood or just clay?? Awesome sir 🙌
Wow
Just started watching, is the wood seasoned or green? also what sort of wood is best?
In this case, I think it was green.
