Some Japanese dudes playing a guy that lived >400 years ago and >9000 kms away ... truly, music has no boundaries, not in space, in time or in culture.
The two trumpets stand out yet blend well. One or two commenters appear to pay attention to the fact that the performers are Japanese. "Western Classical music" has long ceased to be a Western phenomenon but has become cosmopolitan - has been performed, studied and practised in non-Western countries for a long time and in every continent. Nowadays, those who write about or perform works from Gregorian chant to contemporary Classical music can be of any nationality or race.
Brilliant. Finally!! Played at the proper tempo (not like a high school marching band). The conductor's understanding and use of accented and soft notes by the strings was exceptional and appreciated. Well done,
Wonderful Vivaldi as always! I started appreciating the trumpet concertoes, symbolically an instrument of angels. Great trumpet concertos also by Leopold Mozart, Joseph Haydn, George Handel.
Both excellent players, but what a difference in styles! The older chap stays straight and stands almost perfectly still when playing and when not playing, whilst the taller, younger chap bounces around, fidgets with his water key (even when not necessary) and appears to be really pleased with himself. Interesting contrast. And the older guy makes it all look so effortless...!
¡Nada qué hacer con estos japoneses (orientales)! ¡Son una máquina!... ¡Una seriedad única! ¡Ni se arrugan! ¡Impecables! ¡Una interpretación magnífica, maravillosa! 👍👍👍👍👍👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Vivaaaaaaaaa! Beautiful concerto for 2 trumpets: energetic, exhilarating, penetrating, tremulous,... beautiful... beautiful. Vivaldi, in this composition, woke up with his heart full of life, full of clamor... full of freedom!! Cheeerrrrrssssssssssssssss!!
This piece played at the end of my Vivaldi's four seasons disk when I was a child. I always assumed it was part of the seasons. Guess not. But I'm telling you, listen to the four seasons and then this, all that violin and then bring in the trumpet, it's amazing.
Funny how CDs condition us like that. Not too long ago I was having to clear up my siblings' misunderstanding that BWV 1054 is not part of the third Brandenburg concerto even though it came between the third and fourth Brandenburg concertos on CD when we were growing up.
I think is some kind of etiquette behaviour, because in many major concerts (particularly those in which almost only high society members attends), no one claps between movements, but until the entire work has finished. I'm really not sure of that, it's only what I've observed. What a wondeful performance!! (I'm clapping right now :D)
Correct, this is the right way to proceed. Since the orchestra was performing a full concerto and not individual movements from different compositions, the audience must NOT applaud. Many people do it by mistake, so "ideally" the audience should wait until the conductor turns to them to start applauding because this guarantees the composition is finished (of course, if the conductor evidently stops conducting and starts saluting his musicians, like here, it's obvious his job is done).
Beautiful music of great virtuosity and remarkable skill. The joy of music through the ages, lives here right now!! Most majestic and divine performance! [`Salutes!!]
I LOVE THIS PIECE! The very first time I'd heard it was back in 1975, but at the time, I did not know who had composed this music until I heard it years later!

I’m not at all well versed in Vivaldi. But over time, as I’ve been exposed to more, I can’t recall not liking any I sampled. The first time I heard this piece (“All the President’s Men” movie, in my early teens, mid to late 70s), I thought it was Bach. And looked for it as such. Thanks to modern technology, and SoundHound, I found out why that search had been previously unsuccessful. I will be sampling even more now.

Splendido!

You're absolutely right!
My father put me onto this 55 years ago. These men and women
did it justice. BRAVO!
Those piccolo trumpets are soooo hard to play
Imagine playing this piece with the natural trumpets for which this concerto was written for! Even more demanding!
Brilliant. Finally!! Played at the proper tempo (not like a high school marching band). The conductor's understanding and use of accented and soft notes by the strings was exceptional and appreciated. Well done,
Mad ting beuv
This gave me euphoria. Bravo indeed. I am so thankful. Please live 100 years for the Lord. Thanks, Thailand Paul

Wonderful Vivaldi as always! I started appreciating the trumpet concertoes, symbolically an instrument of angels.
Great trumpet concertos also by Leopold Mozart, Joseph Haydn, George Handel.

I NEVER tire of this piece by the Vivaldi Concerto for Trumpets in C!

Yes, he's seasoned at his age. Very focused.
Better is impossible! Bravo! From Poland with love!
Magnificent! Brings tears to my eyes!

Same
I first heard this musical piece in the fall of 1975! I LOVE it!

Beautiful 😻
That was the version i grew up with. dad always played it all the way through. loved it!
The four-seasons CD I owned had the mandolin, oboe, and two-trumpet concertos as add-ons (in this order...). Great, great music all.
I'm impressed that noone clapped in between :)
Great Performance! they sound really balanced and its fun listening to them.
And it's a pity there is that few audience

@@mauriciomoran1452: Spot on; you're absolutely right. Clapping can be very annoying not only or their performers but also for most of de audience!
It shows that the audience is respecting the performance. Clapping is disrupting.
Muy buena interpretación ¡Bravo solistas y orquesta! Excelente registro sonoro
ABSOLUTELY SUPERB
This was the best soundtrack for a chiefwork of cinema ALL PRESIDENT'S MEN.

Buonasera, concordo in pieno con lei...!!! Interpretazione sublime !!!

Did anyone else notice the older trumpet players 4th valve slide does not have the slide part attached? Interesting choice.

Masterful! Limpid!
I feel embarrassed that I know so little about Japanese music when these performers do such a splendid, exciting job on European music.

No surprise there with this sounding like Bach. He actually modeled some of his work off of Vivaldi!
Splendid version. Vivaldi banzai!
Excellent!
Ótimo, sublime.
Sublimissime tout simplement
EXCELLENTE
Awesome! First time I heard this was from a recording by Wynton Marsalis. I love this performance. THANK YOU‼️
Lovely performance! Thanks!
Incroyable
Una soberbia interpretación. Felicitaciones.

Am I the only one bugged by the fact that one of those guys is missing the tube for his 4th valve? I understand why one would do that playing Brandenburg, but Vivaldi?
