Tangent - I just want to sing the praises of that Christian Siriano fragrance. I'm not a big fashion person, but I've always loved his work, and I adore Ooh La Rouge! It's a combination I've never smelled before and is unique and sophisticated without doing too much. Even if it's not your favorite, I have to imagine it's a nice choice for every/anyone.

Michael makes me so angry sometimes. His ego and his need for attention and praise is so overwhelming, he can't even answer a simple question that might put him in a bad light. Not only is it unfair to Natalia because it trivializes the horrific things that happened to her, but it's insulting to all of us watching this. The couple did the bare minimum they could to "help" or "diagnose" Natalia in the first place. They then concentrated on finding a doctor who would agree with their warped idea of what was going on with her and abandoned her. They had so many other options, including notifying the adoption agency, other child services agencies and consulting doctors expert in the particular type of dwarfism she has. It's so sickening that he is trying to act like her friend in this interview. Thank you for the analysis!

Michael displays all the signs of covert narcissism. He cannot entertain the idea of any situation existing where he is not simultaneously the victim and the hero. Basically, from his perspective, he's the main character in the movie of Life, so therefor he must be the 'good guy' and entitled to the unconditional love, sympathy, and 'understanding' from all the 'side characters', no matter what he chooses to do.

You're right, he is. But the term 'covert narcissist' just means he's a narcissist that tries to control and manipulate people in a more roundabout way than a typical narcissist. It's the 'poor me, poor me' narcissist, rather than the 'I'm amazing I'm perfect, I'm better than everyone, I can do anything I want' - kind of narcissist. They're the same at their core, but how they go about it is different.

I wonder…would Michael and Christine still be together, had they not adopted Natalia? Would he have just continued on with this shrew who, if he is telling the truth about her behavior towards Natalia, would have done awful things to his boys as well? And him? See I think Michael is completely consumed by what others think of him. And Chris might be too.
I hypothesize that M and C were in financial distress and were looking for a new hustle, that being Natalia, and her story. Christine’s “charity”. They didn’t bargain for the connection issues and probably behaviors Natalia would certainly have, or the expense her condition demanded.
Weak people care more about what society thinks than what they think of themselves. That is why we see this crazy acting fool in these interviews. He wants to communicate “hey I’m a good person”, but when he’s cornered, he can’t face the hard truths and crumbles. He lies to himself because he is weak.

I'm sure that really drilled in the manipulation when she was a young child, convincing her to tell other people that she was an adult and that she was violent like in the movie. The movie came out 1 year before they adopted Natalia and Chistine definitely watched that and thought she could get famous for being able to "fix" a murderous dwarf child/adult like in the movie.

Whilst we can't diagnose Michael, I think he shows many highly narcissistic traits ( which is funny considering he was accusing his Ex wife of being a Narcissist) - the manipulation, the drama, the attention seeking, the victimhood - poor me, the huge lacking in ability to empathise with Natalia, to make every situation be about himself and what he allegedly went through, to blame everyone else but himself - it literally screams Narcissist but at the very least it's very narcissistic behaviour.
    He comes off highly disingenuous.

Just him trying to one up the victim card with a CHILD?.... I think it's quite obvious. I've been puzzled by this story for so long and when you just read the stroy without hearing or seeing this man (or his ex, but I haven't seen her like this still)..you would be quite confused too. Natalia did seem creepy in a lot of those stories. Now I'm just puzzled how this worm of a man wiggled his way out of serious repercussions.

It's amazing how this resembles my interactions with my dad about my mom's abuse about 20 years ago. About ten years ago, I realized that my mom was the visibly abusive one while my dad was a more covert abuser. They've been driving each other crazy for decades and we were just along for the ride. I really liked watching this, it is very affirming somehow.

Michael definitely thought this doc was a chance for him to redeem himself in the eye of the public but the last thing he wants to do is truly apologize for his part of the abuse. He just wants to scapegoat his ex like she did to him in the trail while I think they are both guilty and Natalia deserves a real apology for being a kid during the whole situation

Kudos to Natalya for not yelling at Michael to shut up and just answer the question. So many times i wanted to tell him to pull his head out of his butt and man up for a change. She really held herself with grace. Probably more than I would have at this point in my life. Michael sure loves the attention he's getting from all of this. He's got himself convinced that he's the victim here and not Natalya. It would be interesting to see Christine's side of things.

As someone with a narcissistic mom and a problematic stepmom I can assure you that my dad pitying himself and never once in his life standing up for me is the most hurtful part in this whole situation. He'd completely put his own well being over the well-being of his children.
I always excused my father's behavior, but only because I'm used to being the parent to my parents.
Being a bystander is even more awful to me than the one who actively hurts someone. To know that there was at least one person who could've helped you, but actively chose not to is...painful.

I didn't watch the series until after the last video. I am assuming there is supposed to be some sort of symbolism with the doors. In the first exchange between Natalia and Michael when her and Antwon are outside talking and they keep showing Michael, Natalia and Antwon aren't relected in the door at any point. The top of the closed front gate is, but it seemed very staged and edited, in my opinion. It kind of warps the perception and makes a lot more of it seem staged as well. Not blaming the people involved in the real life side of it, but the documentary people are kind of doing the actua1l people a disservice, in my opinion.

This child never had a chance! Born in a poor country where disabled babies are seen as a thing of shame to be dumped into a shit hole orphanage, their mothers told they will have no life, that they will be incapable of learning, will never walk or talk, that they are invalids, that will be a financial burden and mothers are pushed and bullied into placing them in state care, or lied to and told they died, never seeing them after delivery while doctors dump the, in orphanages where they are deprived of love, physical touch or cuddling (often not even held during feeds, but by a propped up bottle, and if the bottle is held up by a nanny as they drink flat on their back, often rushed or their feeds cut short, and aspirating milk is common), deprived of language, mental and social stimulation, deprived of toys and play and social interactions with other babies/toddlers despite the understanding of how important play is for young children to learn and grow and mimic their observations and experiences, learn clear and effective communication, problem solve , explore and interact with their surroundings, develop a rich imagination and healthy sense of mischievous playfulness, right and wrong, learn natural consequences under the protective eye of adults who care about them and who they can depend on to swoop in when they get into situations they can’t safely navigate themselves. Their entire existence is all about basic needs-how to soothe hunger, how to eat or drink faster before Nannie’s pull the bottle from their mouth and move on or before other kids competing for food can take theirs or get to whatever is left over. Their mouths aren’t used to explore their environment like other babies and toddlers, they put things in their mouths or suck on whatever they can to self soothe or try to satiate hunger. Many orphanages in old Soviet states and Asian countries strap babies and toddlers to potty chairs all day long once they can sit up on their own. They learn that crying is useless in getting attention to their basic needs, let alone their social-emotional needs, need for comfort and gentle physical affection, and they learn to stimulate themselves through their endless days of monotony to rock, flap, headbang, pick or scratch or pull out their own hair as a firm if self stimulation. They learn they are different, despised, unwanted, unloved, outcasts of their society and family. It’s no wonder so many of them have serious trust issues, reactive attachment disorder unable to form healthy bonds, especially when not adopted as a newborn, explosive anger issues, deep rooted fear, unhealthy relationships with food, impulsiveness, fear, anxiety, resentment, low self esteem and confidence……all adoptive parents should have to demonstrate clear understanding of what adopting a child (especially one over two years of age) really looks like, a deep understanding of not just their physical ailments, but their emotional and psychological scars as well, and the difficulties that come from having reactive attachment disorder. They also need to understand the financial aspect of adopting a child who needs extensive medical care and surgeries, and only move forward after they get all of the child’s records and history and have the means and intention of seeing it through to the end, kiwi g it will take years to fully prove that they won’t abandon the child and can be trusted enough to let them in past the walls the child builds around themselves for protection.
These people knew full well what they were doing; they ignored the bone density scan one specialist used to prove she was under 8 years old, ignored the dentist confirming her age as under 8 due to growth plates not closed and still having most of her baby teeth. They ignored the school stating she was eager to learn, loved school and hardly complained even though walking the long hallway caused immense physical pain and required her to be carried mist of the way, they skipped her surgery schedule and doctor hopped until convincing a family friend primary doctor to write a letter to the court telling the judge his opinion was that the Barnetts were right about her being an adult, despite not being a specialist familiar with her condition (writing the wrong type of dwarfism) and despite never examining her. The three of them committed perjury and fraud.
BTW, aside from her baby teeth still intact when the Barnetts changed her age, and ignored the bone density test, dental tests and other scans, and no one else seeing pubes and a period, her medical condition could actually cause premature puberty. Gell, my healthy 8 year old daughter started her period and grew boobs early. Age of mensus gas gone down significantly over the past 15 plus years. But her condition alone could cause that. My niece has campomelic dysplasia (also including dwarfism, and she had pubic and underarm hair at 7 years old, as her growth hormones were out of whack. Natalya’s bone density scan, dental records (proving baby teeth at the time that didn’t finish falling out with permanent teeth coming in until she was closer to 10) her mother being found in Ukraine and consenting to a DNA test proving she was 99.9999% Natalya’s bio mom, making the Barnett’s claims invalid due to the age of the birth mother! Those tests proved her age more than the current dna test done on the documentary, as the test administered to her bio mom another relative and Natalia, proving maternity and therefore Natalia’s true age as a child at the time she was abandoned. Her changing appearance from then to now also demonstrates her maturing from childhood with frequent physical changes to her appearance (and her last baby teeth falling out) to adulthood with minimal changes. This child was betrayed, abused, abandoned and character murdered to take the heat off of the Barnetts. Now being manipulated by the Mann’s as a financial meal ticket, despite gratefulness of getting her out of an apartment, ent with little food impossible for a child with dwarfism who uses walkers and a wheelchair to get around, with teachers carrying her when she fatigued quickly and was too tired and in pain doubled over to walk the rest of the hallway, but they want us to believe she loomed over them threatening to kill them or chasing them down with a knife? Bull💩
