- Kasey has an Audi B7A4 that he's done quite a few modifications to over the years and admits to some routine maintenance neglect. He's thinking of selling the car but has sentimental attachment. Will our upgrades be enough to bring new life to this quattro platform and get Kasey to reconsider?
In this session of Upgrade or Unload we diagnose a B7A4 for check engine lights and do a general inspection on the vehicle. Upgrades include ECS front mount intercooler, ECS Coil-overs, ECS Street Shield, Meyle control arms & tie rods, INA tensioner pulley, INA wheel hubs, Hawk Performance Pads & rotors, Liquimoly oil change, Hengst oil filter change, and we topped it off with a RaceChip tune.

Manual transmission swap would be the bees knees. Unless he doesn't know how to drive a stick shift. Paint matching would finish this off as well.
Eh, maybe one day I’ll do the swap. I’ve never been to super care for a stick in the car. Luckily I do know how to drive stick. Who knows, maybe one day - but if so it’ll be the last thing I do to this car.

@@djneedles000 I currently own a B9 S4. But for manual duties, we have a 2020 Subaru STI. But I've owned multiple Audi A4/S4 with the manual 5 and 6 speed transmissions.
Chris saying those magic sentences, "Bob's your uncle" and "That's not going anywhere" are two surefire ways to know this is quality work that'll outlast Jay's ownership.

very cool video, B7 content. Sad this is the less desirable version (non-sline, auto and grey int.), but with some work and a swap, this would be a solid modded car !
Hopefully the Balance Shaft/Oil Pump unit lasted 200k miles, those are a pain to replace

Hey thanks for uploading this! I have a 2005.5 A4 Quattro 6mt that I enjoyed between 2018 and 2022. In that time I slowly got the car to stage 3 with a frankenturbo f23l hybrid turbo, golf r/ s3 injectors, integrated engineering hpfp internals, turbosmart kompact dv and much more. The car had a stock drivetrain including the clutch and launched very hard especially with semi sticky tires I had 235 federal 595rs-rr. Car got to about 220k miles and blew the head gasket I believe the fans may not have been working as the temperature started to creep but it was too late by the time I shut it down the car has since been in storage because I just can’t get rid of it but this has given me some much needed inspiration. These are definitely underrated platforms that can make “enough” reliable power and be made to handle like they’re on rails.

Yes,keep it and find another motor for it,if you get rid of it, you'll regret it later like I'm going to do to mine that I'm about to buy.08 B7 Avant, dolphin grey, titanium, s-line version,manual trans,157k for $9500-a lot of money but I think worth it in the end.

For the MAF plug, get a repin tool. 1/10 the work of resplicing a new connector. I redid all of my ignition coil connections with junkyard plugs off various VW/audi cars (looked until i found 4 good ones). Splicing sucks, the connectors are designed to be dissasembled
Ahh excellent call on this - thanks! This is actually what our in-house wiring guy did for us off camera, but we forgot to follow up about it!
That valve cover gasket wasnt as bad as it could have been, I did mine at 150k and it and turned to plastic. I had to use a pick tool to get all the bits out as it just kept snapping. Your one just peeled out nicely.
That was the magic of editing ha ha. Kasey spent a lot of time cleaning that all off in the parts washer!
@@ecstuning Yeah I can imagine. Im just glad my valve cover came off with all the gasket still in the cover. I was amazed at how brittle it was. It was 1000 pieces when I got it all out, haha.

owned 4 b7s. there's a lot of fail points especially at that milage the timing chain and tensioner is one, The timing belt and tensioner are another, Intake manifold develop a ton of leaks over the plenty of heat cycles of 200k. oil cooler housing warp. rear coolant flange warps. the stock cat is extremely restrictive aswell. i hope these were already maintenanced before this video because if they weren't you just put some shiny stickers on a turd. also what happened to the downpipe?

I wish I still had my B7 A4 .. It made it to 268,xxx until an Audi SUV driver crashed into me and I hit a cement wall.. My insurance totaled it, now I have a VERY boring A3 ..

do not splice that connecter buy the pig tail connector piece an use the proper tool to push the end of the wires out
