@@WolfsburgSlim Golf R AWD doesn't bolt right up to the Jetta, that was only for MkV. For this one to work they would need a bunch of parts from Audi TT.
@@ThousandBlade For a full AWD swap, the manual MK6R 2012-2013 pretty much bolts over to the mk6 Gen3 jetta (if you keep the Jetta's engine). For a DSG car it's best to swap over from an audi A3 2008-2013. This plus an IS38 swap is pretty much the setup that Charles Devine was running when he was showcased on this channel.

@@Yaboybash fair enough. Idk enough about these mk6 jettas because we didn't get past the mk5 in the UK so I can't say for sure what gen the engine is. All I know is that if it is a 14 plate it should be gen 2 but it's entirely possible judging by how much the seller lied about that he got the year wrong and it is in fact a 15 plate

I need chaos in my life, so I'm hopelessly hooked on watching your videos. Paul is amazing host, and hilarious. And has forgotten more about cars than I know. I used to drive Skoda Superb with 1.8t, but switched to Aero Saab. But my girlfriend still drives Vw Polo which I maintain and fix everything myself.
As soon as I saw that it was a listing from Salisbury I knew it was gonna be a basket case. I'm shocked it doesn't have any bullet holes in it.

People just odnt care avout their cars, i work in a tire shop, guy came in with a new VW passat, 23k miles. Only wanted to replace one tire and rotate it to the opposite side.

Damage to passenger side fender, suspension fucked cause tires were cupping and serverly uneven, rims acratched, rim getting new tire slightly bent. Other tires 4/32nds of tread remaining.
Inside, clean as iff just off the lot. Outside, even without the fender damage, dirty AF.
with that type of owner, I'd be curious if he's even done an oil change or two. VERY sad!! It's the "throw-away culture" just like a smartphone mentality.

As a GLI owner of that same model that is NOT a 2014 GLI that is the 2016-18 yr model mk6.5 Jetta GLI I have the same model in tornado Red an absolutely beautiful car, fun to drive looks super clean and for a young driver it’s IMO one of the best cars you can get as a first car it comes fully loaded and has a baby turbo to get tho good highways speeds, plus with not to many mods it can be a better daily, depending on one’s tastes you can add a lot or a little to this car to make it your own one reason I will forever keep my GLI no matter what new cars come out as this is becoming a more rarer model to see as the years progress.
I think the front end was replaced with a 6.5 front end after the first crash

when he said the thing about buying cheap parts he is 100% right i bought an amazon oil pan for my 2013 gti and it leaked out of the drain plug welds horrendously
Tell me about it. Both my cars need parts right now and I would love to buy something cheaper than OEM, but it's just too much of a gamble. I spoke with my shop that does more complex, vital repairs I prefer not to touch and asked them "got any suggestions for aftermarket ?", they said no, unless it's regular maintenance item like filter, than OE supplier will do. I like cars and motorbikes so I can workaround this, but it's beyond annoying to spend so much effort on mondane stuff instead of driving or even cleaning my rides.

I had no idea you had your own channel! I really want to see you build a fast car! I honestly want to see one of you german guys build a turbo 5cylinder jetta with the dual clutch transmission. Personlly i think that would be an amazing engine and transmission to swap into a toyota mr2.
Mid engine, cool 5 cylinder and turbo noises, and dual clutch for full racecar.
I would love a video on the easiest way to rebuild this motor after jumping time. There are dozens of cheap cars with this exact issue kicking around here.

Wow! I am sure they were getting a "Ton of Extra Power" with that "E-Z Breathe" Intake Air Filter.
I miss my MK6 2017 GLI 6speed. Lost her to a total loss accident after some kid rear ended. IMO they look superior to the MK7 but I know the engine is not as good.
That's how my intake looked after I bought it from a volkswagon dealership. When it was time to service I was amazed. Let it soak in the k&n cleaner and washed it and it looked brand new!

I bought the car after it was a bit abused from the previous owner at 90K miles. I think it was on its way out based on the shiny bits I started to see in the oil filter

I've owned mine since new and have been super up on maintenance and while I drive it like it was meant to be driven, I wouldn't say it's ever been abused. Mines been good to all its belts and other bits so maybe I've got less to worry about. It's sometimes tough not being the first owner and not really knowing all the details of how someone may have (or may not have) taken care of their car.
This hurts my heart in so many places💔. I own a jetta mk2 and always wanted one of these GLI's. it just makes me think "Why would you do that to such a beautiful machine!?" 😫
What surprised me in this video is the price of the ignition coil. $53 per is a great price, especially when you consider all this inflation bs.

For those wondering it is the CPPA gen 3 EA888. The reason it looks different is because the turbo is a mgt1752s not the same as the gti.
Evidence: I own a 2017 GLI with the same exact engine
Reminds of when I drove fours hours to pick up a car and had specifically asked "Clean title in your name, in hand?" and was told "Yes". As Maury Povich was known to say "That was a lie". Another two hours at the title loan place and I had a title with lien release, but boy was I annoyed.

Almost always when previously nice vehicles are treated with this sort of chaos drugs are heavily involved. Buying sight unseen on any vehicle listing site is a bad idea, but good for a video. It's not even good to buy something at night. I sold a truck at night and I told the guy he should probably wait until the next day to come by and look at it. He refused. I'm sure he missed lots of rust.
whoever previously owned it had enough money for some nice Rotiform wheels but after that had absolutely zero money left for ANY Maintenance apparently
I wish you would have bought my gli. 289k miles. Did the timing chain. Replaced the clutch disks. But my oil cooler went bad and I blew my coolant hose. Would have been great for your show. Have all service records.
Reasons I always go manual on used Vdubs. Don’t want to run into a neglected DSG or go through the extensive checking on the condition of the DSG.
