Thank you Dr for video.pls how can some one get rid of pterygium in the both eyes.
Dr: This is your most useful video for me! I am taking Ciprofloxacin eye drops and my first attempt was a miss exactly like your video. Some of the drops even fell on my skpe! The drop hit my skpe and open up the fluid in it. Those eyes were strong as hell! Thanks for this video. Now I know how to put Eye drops in.
I have naturally long eye lashes & they stop the drop from coming into my eyes. But when I used the technique of lying on my bed then the eye drops went into my eyes. Thanks Dr A!
Please make a video aqualube eye drop
I am 68. Have had dry eyes for 30 years. No one ever showed me the right way to use drops. Surprise I was doing it wrong. Just did it your way. What a difference! Thank you!!
Glad it helped! I wish you a happy up coming new year!
You used eye drops for 30 years?
@@gabrieelkn yeah what else would they do
@@Joe-km7xi i think that he thought that the man used the same eye drop bottle for 30 years
@has that’s what I was thinking
Blocking the canal and not blinking really was a tip that I did not know, THANK YOU!!
Canal is already empty 🤣
Thank you so much for this. This helped immensely

I've been doing eye drops wrong all my life! This video really made a huge difference...
His eyes must've been super hydrated after filming. XD
I found an easy way to put in eye drops is to pull the bottom of the eye down as you suggested, but put the drop in while looking in a mirror. This works great when someone can’t stand to see the dropper coming and flinches, giving the dropper a whole different perspective. We shared this with our patients and they loved it!
thanks a lot!!
That is how I put in my eye drops. And I have also shared that when I was working with my patients!
How often can we apply eye lubricant? After my cataract surgery my eye is so dry and my opthalmologist suggest me to apply whenever I feel uncomfortable, but the relief won't last long. If I apply immediately whenever I feel uncomfortable, I will end up applying so many times a day. Is it ok?
How many hands do you have?
I never knew about the Nano dropper!! as a med professional myself (PT), I love learning things from other docs that can potentially help my clients too! love your videos! keep it up~
Thank you! PT IS AWESOME! I tore my ACL in high school and learned a lot from it.
@@DoctorEyeHealth What a way to learn. 🤣
@@DoctorEyeHealth OMG!
Was it soccer?
thank you so much for this! i was just diagnosed with dry eyes today and was given a bunch of drops. i’ve never applied eye drops myself before and this is so helpful! 🙌🏾
That closed eye technique is going to be a life saver. Thank you!
The closed-eye tip is the best. Made post-cataract surgery recovery a breeze. Thank you.
Thanks Dr. Allen! I'm so happy your information is on CZcams for free. It's helped me feel more informed about my eye care, so when I go to the eye doctor in-person, I know what I'm talking about.
I was wondering why I was getting a very nasty taste in my throat after using my eye drops- this video and channel in general has been great! thanks once again doc
Wow! That was the most complete and informative description of eye drop use imaginable in such a short amount of time. It is most important now as many people have been getting inflammation and infections due to their drops. Thank you for the info and keep up the good work.
Thank you! I'm new to needing eye drops (prescription), and unfortunately I'm a blinker. I think I've missed several times, but didn't want to risk overdosing by retrying. These tips really helped!
Thank you for such wonderful tips. I recently got my Lasik surgery done and have been using eye drops everyday . However i always felt a bitter after taste in my throat every time I used my eye drops. Also my eyes kept feeling dry even after constantly applying eye drops. Thanks to you , my experience has been much better now 😊
Thank you. I never thought to shake them and now I feel stupid but I learned something so thank you very much.
Love love love I've been using eyedrops for years and years, hearing you talk about them is so informative and relaxing x keep the great videos comming xx love lloyd from new Zealand
Thanks Dr. Allen. Your instructions were easy to follow and you also covered topics that were new to me.
This is the BEST video I have ever seen on how to use eye drops. I especially liked the trick of resting the dominant hand holding the eyedrops on the back of the hand pulling the lower eyelid open. Game changer , thank you so much !!
The closing your eyes tecnique really saved my life, as a person who is very sensitive about eye-related stuff. Thank you!
I appreciated all the info, especially the closed eye and to wait 5 to 10 minutes between mulitiple drops. I'm gonna have to use 2 meds 4x a day before cataract surgery about a week before I'm scheduled. This has been very helpful and I'm keeping it in my history for review. God bless you!
Great tips. Having cataract surgery Monday so will be doing drops for about a month. Best tip was resting dominant hand on the non dominant being used to hold down the lower eyelid. Just tried it out with the antibiotic drops and it helped a lot. Thanks.
I'm 81 with dry eye, live alone & cannot, for the life of me, put drops in my own eyes! Finally just gave up. But stumbled across this video & now--know how to do it! Lie down, close my eyes & allow the drop to slip into my eye from the corner! So simple yet never mentioned to me before! I might even get that "nano-dropper you spoke of. THANK YOU SO MUCH! Sally Lyons🥰
Thank you for this video! I really appreciate the tip about resting the hand with the bottle on the hand pulling the eyelid down. I'm always missing my eye with the drops. Also, I used to blink every time I used the drops, so thanks for the tip about keeping your eyes closed immediately after using the drops.
Thanks for this, I always wondered why eye drops seemed to make my eyes feel worse, have just done it using the way in the video and already feels so much better
Thank you Dr Allen
Great advice
I have had cataracts surgery and have to use 2 different types of eye drops
I have been using the drops all wrong
You have explained in great detail
Thank you and bless you!
I’ve just come across this channel free trying unsuccessfully to put eye drops in. I’m a flincher- this was so helpful. Thanks so much!
Me too!
Where buying drops
Thank you, Dr. Allen, for this great info! The most useful bit was leaning the dominant hand onto the other one, to steady the hand applying the drops! Appreciate it!!
Yay! I discovered the nose bridge technique on my own. I wanted to get a nano dropper but was concerned about my grip strength/pinching strength and the dropper being harder to squeeze out the nano drop. I think it would work fine for very watery eye drops. I got a Systane gel formula in a squeeze bottle and it is much harder to get those drops squeezed out. Love your channel. I'm newly diagnosed and figuring out my protocols. Just got a heated eye mask. I should look on your channel to see if you have any recommendations.
This whole time I thought eye drops were useless for me but in the end no one had taught me how to use them properly.. I watched this video yesterday and used my allergic prescription drops through today as recommended and they’ve actually been helping instead of feeling like they’re doing nothing. I can’t believe no one had taught me so far how to use eye drops even though I have dry eyes
Wow! I’ve always had a huge problem getting those drops into my eyes! It’s uncomfortable doing it and I end up wasting all the drops! The drops end up on my nose, my eyebrows, or even on my forehead! Everywhere except the eyes! I tried your method and it worked on my first attempt! Incredible! OMG! You’re a blessing to me! Thank you so much! Where have you been all my life? Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! 👍❤
Thanks for your videos. They are very informative. I just started taking Ristasis and the med comes in individual dosages. I find the dropper more difficult than a bottle. Also, I’ve got silicone blocks in the canaliculi. I’m going to try your suggestions with the individual droppers to see if administration is improved.
Excellent demo. The optometrists have never ever explained the procedure or asked if we knew how to use eye drops. Thank you, that was helpful and beneficial.
Dr Allen you very articulate! Appreciated your comprehensive explanation of using eye drops --- some of which were unique!
Thank you next week I’m getting glasses and I’m afraid of getting drops maybe so thank you for showing me the different ways!
Bless you for sharing this! Never has an eye doctor ever reviewed this with me. Why?! Seems so important! Thank you.
Thank you Dr Allen. Your instruction on how to get the eyes in were very good & are working well for me
I have a problem with flinching and shaky hands so I’ll try the close eye method next time. Your videos are very helpful. Thank you very much!!
Fabulous! Your videos always give me confidence. I'm so delicate wrt my eyes.
That makes me so happy to hear!
Thanks a lot!! Your first tip helped a lot!! I have dry eyes for the past few years. And, this was the first time I poured eye drops in my own eyes. Thank you!!
Such a cute friendly doc & such helpful tips. Thank you, you're a lifesaver! 🙏🏼
The way I use eye drops is by standing in front of a mirror, tilting my head and moving my eyeballs to one side and then pointing the dropper above the white part of my eye and then squeezing the bottle and closing my eyes for a few seconds for it to cover the entire eyeball. Maybe that's not the correct way but it prevents the blinking part of putting something in your eye
I'm a patient of glaucoma and today first time I came to know the right method of pouring eye drops. Thanks Dr Allen
That sounds great! As lkng as u show the different eye movemts and crossing them.. Thank u! Steven
Thank you, I appreciated the entire video helpful. Thank you. Liked the tip about punctal occlusion and putting drops in frig to help with knowing if drops landed in right spot.
Very informative and helpful. didn't know that I should not blink after applying the eye drop (as I've been told). Thanks a lot for these info and God bless you.
THANK YOU!!!! Best tips ever :) now I can put them myself and hopefully help w my dry eyes
I've suffered from extreme dry eye after cataract surgery and have been not doing the drops correctly. After watching this video, wow what a difference!
I've just started using prescription eyedrops to reduce my IOP and I've struggled to get them in on my own. I've checked out many instruction videos and I'm so glad i came across yours; it is by far the best, thanks!
0:07 wow! That's exactly how I applied my eye drops
I always pull the upper eyelid as it help with the blinking. Blocking the canal and not blinking afterward was something new I learned today. Thanks.
I've had to use eye drops after cataract cleaning and it's so difficult to use them so thank you!
I have been doing it wrong the entire time. Thanks so much for this!
You're a fantastic human being and an I am sure a great eye doctor too! I love all your videos and the way you explain things. Not a lot of doctors take so much time in order to explain things. God bless you. I have a question or two and I'd be really glad if I could email somewhere. Thanks!
AND HE MAKES MONEY ON THE VIDEO TOO!
Such great helpful tips to improve our quality of daily life and a straightforward well presented video. Thanks for all you do.
I appreciate this video. I recently had eye surgery and trying to get the drops in have been a nightmare. Thank you for these helpful tips.
Can’t believe What a difference it makes when following your instructions. Thank you .
That's great!! You are so welcome!
Great to hear! Thanks for letting me know!
Thanks Doc. This was a blessing!
Thank you for this advice of how to hold the dropper, just got some castor oil eye drops and struggled to get anything in the eye, but will give this technique a try tonight !
Thanks Dr. Extremely important and very informative. Well explained.
Most helpful was learning I should be blocking the drainage canals and keeping my eyes closed for 30 seconds after instilling the drops. Also didn't know about closed eye technique. Your videos are great, I'll be sharing your channel on Facebook.
Wow, this was super helpful information! Lots of stuff I did not know, such as one drop only. Thank you!!
I have always struggled to use eyedrops and always miss getting the drops in, this video really helped me.
Thankyou dr. Its really helpful
Thanks a lot! I was struggling to do it by myself.
Fantastic pro-tips! Self administration with one hand resting on the other or closing the eye and resting on the nose bridge were really helpful. I ask myself, after years of doing drops, why didn't I think of that? Thx so much!
Dr. Allen, thanks for telling us 1 eyedrop is sufficient for the eye, and for showing how and the reason to put finger on the corner of eye which I always wonder. Thanks for all the great tips to what seems like an easy procedure, now I can confidently use eyedrops without a mirror 👏👌⚘
I found this to be so informative and so useful
great topic. I have been probably effectively wasting eye drops every time I used them. Sounds simple, just two drops, but some training will now actually get them into my eyes.
Been trying to find a video that would specifically show me the exact spot to do the punctal occlusion. When you said you will feel those little bumps on the inside of your eyes and I tried that myself and felt them and finally felt that I had found the correct spot to apply pressure. Before this I was pressing more on the sides of the bridge of the nose in inner eye but not right in the corner of the eye on what you called the little bumps. I looked at several videos before I saw this one and felt I had reached clarity.
Excellent! The only thing I would add would be to point out that those using eyedrops on a continual basis should select preservative free style eyedrops as the preservatives used in eyedrops can themselves cause damage to the eye if used frequently. Almost all eyedrops that comes in bottles use preservatives so select the preservative free style that come in individual ampules.
if you got the money they are very expensive! 30 VIALS FOR GLAUCOMA CAN COST 235.00 A MONTH I NEED 2 VIALS A DAY!
@@petersorensen4396 I had no Idea they are so expensive ( I persume in the US?) much better price where I’m from
Hey Dr Allen! Fairly new viewer here and really loving your videos! I am also in the medical field (PA-C), and being in family medicine I seem to often have a hard time convincing my patients to see an eye doctor for routine visits (heck, sometimes they don't even understand why they have to see me for routine visits!). Could you do some sort of video that discusses why routine eye care is so important from the perspective of an eye health provider? I'd love to have a cheat sheet of sorts to pass on to my own patients!
Hi Andie, you might find this useful. czcams.com/video/stq7w9RHBCg/video.html. Best wishes.
Love your channel so much, sir. Keep it up.
As a Montessori teacher, I love the details of this presentation. Very thorough!
AWESOME! I am a new contact lense wearer. Your info and tips are SO helpful! Thank You!
Thank you! So happy you found the channel!
Which eye drop do u use while having contact lens on ?
Thank you so much, brother. You are the best in the business.
This is very helpful. I have been doing it all wrong. Now I can apply properly and hopefully I will get some relief.
Thank you so much this literally changed my life
Thank you. I never knew about shaking the bottle.
More simple method: Look into mirror sideways and put drop in opposite eye from the far side with head tilted up slightly. Super easy, works every time.
Thanks for this helpful video. I need eye drops daily but I also have to administer eye drops to my patients and that can be tricky at time so this is really helpful
Thank you so much for this video,n i hope u have good health n may God bless you...keep it up bro
Application of the drops properly is more beneficial for me. Thank you!
Thank you so much for this ..The Blocking and closing the eye ..
THANK YOU saving me from contact headaches

Thank you for the tips. I’m going to try it right now. My eyes are dry and burning almost pain. I can never get the drop in there properly. I flinch every time and I miss. I think I should just relax and follow your tips. Thank you again.

Thanks for info-I had combined glaucoma and Cataract surgery with having to use lots of eye drops still. One eye had issues so postponing my 2nd eye surgery with even more drops.
