Tom over on Hobotech has a solution for this slow car charging of solar generators: Get a good but inexpensive 300W pure sine wave inverter like a Bestek over on Amazon. Plug that into your cigarette lighter/12 V and charge the Jackery with the AC adapter it came with instead. He was getting almost 300W of charging out of that.
Thanks that is an approach. 300 watts 12 Volt would be a 25 amp draw. I would have to wire that directly to the battery or it would fry my Outbacks electrical setup! The AC charger on my 1500 tops out at about 285 watts. I have a third DC outlet in the car but I did not deploy it to the 1500 Y connector. There are a lot of variations to experiment with! I just bought a Bestech 300 watt inverter to plug in my car. Charges my 500 watt Jackery at 81 watts. I'm happy with it so far.
Excellent! You bring up a good point any way we can reduce charge time is a plus On the Jack 1500 I can hook 2 12V inputs fro the car to the Jack and charge much faster than with one. Maybe 15 hour to charge from dead on on and 8 hours on 2 inputs. I cant do that with the smaller models I have. But it sure is nice having portable power! . Without divulging too much of your secret camping locations, I’m curious where about in the Green Mtn National Forest you camped. We go there quite often and explore. Somerset reservoir is a terrific place to Kayak, and is incredible during Fall foliage.

How do you order a new dc charger? Their site has nothing. No accessories except a stupid carying bag. I sent them a message. No response. I would expect a site where you can order the accessories, backup ac adapter, car charger, parallel solar connector, solar anderson extension. But no. Absolutely nothing. I am not impressed.
you might want to ck on how this double connection will affect your cars alternator. most auto alternators are not designed to pump out a lot of amps for more than a few min to replenish the car battery. others who have installed lithium batteries in towed campers have found that the tow vehicle alt needs to be changed to survive the high draw that lithium can cause. For occasional use i am sure it will be fine but still i would ck with both Subaru and the manufacturer of your cars alternator.
Thanks it is indeed a load on the alternator. at 170 watts that's 14 amps. I have read that Subaru alternators put out about 60 amps to a dead battery so I think its pretty safe. The DC ports on the car are fused and I did not blow any so the load was not too unreasonable. Thanks for you excellent comment. Interesting point DJ. The trailer is charged by the tow vehicle when driving. So the TV would be charging the trailer and by default the Jack too. Ultimately the alternator charges everything connected if its in the trailer or the car from my point of view. 𝕋𝕙𝕒𝕟𝕜 𝕐𝕠𝕦 𝕗𝕠𝕣 𝕨𝕒𝕥𝕔𝕙𝕚𝕟𝕘! =𝓒𝓸𝓼𝓶𝓸 ✅!

Seeing the Jackery 1500 (and I’m assuming the collection would not be complete without the 2000), I had a question for you. Could a large solar generator (let’s say 2000wh) be used to plug into the Vistabule shore power with an extension cord to recharge the Vistabule lithium battery? I’m thinking that the solar generator could be recharged, and used to run/recharge the Vistabule house battery. The Bluetti 200P can handle up to 700 watts of panel which would recharge pretty quickly. Do you think this would work? Thanks for the great videos!
I camp in extreme cold and Lithium for a house battery on the VB is not a good choice for me since Lithium wont recharge below +20F and wont output power below +16F. Exceed those limitations and you ruin the battery. Charging one battery with another typically incurs a 40% loss. For instance a 10,000 MA portable battery to charge phones will only deliver 6,000 MA to thee phone duel to losses on the phone side to make the battery chemistry work. If you can live with that I suppose you could. For me I use th lead acid trailer battery to run the fridge, lights and stereo and charge everything else with the Jackery like my laptop and portable speaker. This lets the trailer battery do its work and I can have my fun with good control on who gets power. I can triage very easily if needed. My 1500 didn’t come with the 8mm adapter. Pretty disappointed. Jackery said their out of stock and will send one out later. I wouldn’t be able to use a single solar unit without the adapter either.

Cosmo, I take delivery of my new trailer (OGT) and I ordered it with a Xantrex 2000 watt inverter. Would it be redundant if I bought the Jackery 1500? .....I'm not an electrical guy at all, hence the dumb question

Ok, you've worn me down Cosmo. As soon as I can (hopefully) contact you via email and get your Vestabule setup, I'll be talking with Lilly/Vestibule to order my own "Cosmo Castle". Your setup is about as perfect for me as any I've seen so that's why I want to get the setup from you. One question... I believe you started out with a Propex heater.... are you still using that or did you go to a Mr Heater unit? I hope to be a full time nomad with my Vestibule for at least 6 months of the year so heat is a big thing.....

Could you ask Jackery to create a decent site with a store where we can order replacement part. ( ac adapter, solar parallel adapter, car charger, car power cable. Anderson extension cable) there is absolutely nothing except a stupid iseless bad carying bag. I am not impressed. I sent them three messages. No responses. It is the same nearly with all the other manufacter. But sometime the other brand like Bluetti and Goal zero, inergytek offers few articles like adapter, or cables. Jackery offer nothing..!!! I bought the jackery 1000 bundle 200w, and it is working great, no complains, but the after sale support is zero for the moment.
