The day before the Battle Of Hastings, I went on a bit of a tour with Marc Moore to get the rundown on the absolutely overwhelming scale that is Source BMX. The shop is huge. The park is epic. The location is unreal. And the warehouse is next level...enjoy.

Super cool insight into the operation and bts of the warehouse at Source. Just wanted to say I appreciate your content on covering this stuff and that there are positive ppl out there instead of all the shallow misinformed comments that are mostly negative or snarky, who do enjoy all the hardwork that ppl like you and the owners of Source do to keep BMX alive and moving.

My 7 yr old is racing bmx and wanted a bike for parks. I didn't really know what I was doing in buying one. I called these guys, they were super helpful so I bought a bike for my son from them. They were really nice to deal with....I live in skateparks now! Haha
The scene over there has to be insane to sustain a place like that.
As someone in that scene I can say it really is. More and more people start bmx every year and there's so many parks/street spots around. Really great scene
And here I am, in Poland where Bmx died 5 years ago and biggest BMX Shop in country sells in one day more scooter parts than BMX parts in whole year :(

No it just means they have a monopoly on the uk bmx industry, most kids mail order from source and then all the other small shops suffer because people don’t go to their local shop anymore

And talk about bowls, those swimming pools are like the ultimate, the Cadillac, the Bentley, the Rolls all in one, with a food court and all that Victorian charm. And BMX mail-order is a lifeline for those far from a shop. In '75, when I was an American teen in Frankfurt, far from California, I responded to a tiny mail-order ad in Dirt Bike Magazine for a CYC Stormer with Skyway Tuff-Wheels. And the day that box arrived--my Dad brought it home from the post office by the PX--was one I will never forget. I was so happy to have a real BMX bike and it didn't cost all that much. But I had an after-school job at the commissary, and that was probably my best purchase, that CYC Stormer. And those Tuff-Wheels were up to the job of jumping down those steep concrete staircases in the housing area, sort of scary but you had to clear all of them on the way down to a hard landing on the sidewalk.

Being in Michigan I thought it was funny that guy had the albes website pulled up! Lol I'm an albes local but have ordered alot from source with not one issue! Keep up the great work and if i ever make it to the UK you can bet I'm going to stop by the store/park

It's in the city of Clawson which is about a half hour north of the city of Detroit👍Good guys there and they all ride as well, been doing mail order stuff for at least twenty + years.

Murdered my shoulder. Wanted my king weight weenie status back and want a bike I'll be able to tailwhip again without issues. Bar spins will be ridiculous though. Hence two builds lol.

I never understood how this place got so big, perhaps marketing, or even luck i guess. In their early days their customer service was so horrendous. Double charged me for an order, repeated phone calls over several months, i just gave up and said i'll take some parts instead. Guy on the other end says you've still got excess money spare, i remember saying i really don't care anymore just send me the bits. Think it was a few packs of spokes, hub guard or something too. The order literally wasn't much at all. They sent me a Source tshirt as an apology i guess, that got thrown. Why on earth why i want to represent a company that never bothered to give me any time, but were happy to take my money.
Around the same time i remember reading on forums about other bad experiences. I wasn't really surprised. I also remember trying to chat to the guys at a stall as NASS, they just weren't interested, to the point of being plain rude.
This kind of behaviour isn't even isolated. I've noticed, and heard from others in other sports and hobbies that just being a rider/player/user doesn't immediately make you entitled or worthy of selling the interest.
It's good that they're giving back to bmx, which is what supporting local/rider owned places are about. But i'll never shop there again. I used to be all about supporting rider owned and spending the extra ££, but when the reality struck me that not all bmxers are really straight up honest guys, i became more interested in just going for the best deal sadly. Just because someone doesn't ride a bmx, doesn't mean they're not worthy of packing up a bmx part and sending it to you, and certainly doesn't mean their job isn't as important to them. And given the majority of dedicated bmx shops have inexperienced mechanics and not so knowledgeable people, going there for the service just isn't worth it. Though i'm glad i have a decent LBS, and will support them. They have the tools, the experience, and can do work like facing that most bmx stores would look at you with a blank face.
I find it a shame really, as i'm generally or mostly a believer in "you get what you pay for".
Sorry you had a negative experience. I assume by the early days, you mean ten plus years ago...if that's the case, then I'm sure a lot has changed, otherwise they wouldn't be as large (and with a good reputation) as they currently are. Obviously support your LBS first as they're super important, but I wouldn't write off a very legit brand on a decade-old experience.
Source are unloved by many people in the scene in 2019. Just the faces pulled and the negative comments returned when asked 'did you go to the battle of Hastings?' Are telling enough, things along the lines of 'why would I give my money to those bloodsuckers!'.

We try our hardest to not only give the best customer experience but also to throw the best contest possible. 99.9% of the time when that question is asked its a response of pure stoke. sorry if it wasn't the case for you but feel free to drop us a message to discuss.
@Eskimo We are also sorry to hear this as we have prided ourselves on our customer service and experience for the past 16 years. We also strive to support and give back to BMX in all ways we can. Hopefully you can swing by the Source Park some time for a session with the crew and see that we're not rude like you once thought :-)

Yeah they went to shit when they stopped sending out magazines. Literally. The quality of everything about danscomp went down hill when they switched to full size magazines to the mini books then to none. The "store" never existed. Its a warehouse you cant go inside. I tried. Went to the state they said it was at.

And while your at it, ask your mechanic to take a look at the pics i sent. And while your at it, fix my login to be able to track your "ticket" that I've had to call about 3 times and have not gotten anywhere... 900 $$ bike that i can't ride.. SMFH

We did no skate boards our store was 100% BMX not half filled with boards and skate clothing.
