You're not karate-chopping that Bug-Eye Ghost hard enough.
Yeah. I had that ghost as a kid as well. You need to kinda karate chop the back of the ghost, so the air pressure pushes the eye out.

Among all the Great Toys of The 1980s, this was one of the coolest vehicles I will ever see. ECTO-1 in all of its glory.
Now they just need to reissue the Ecto-Plazm cans!
To be precise, you don't need to read the copyright print under the vehicle to tell Ecto-1 apart from the original. The Hasbro version has that plastic cover over the winch mechanism, the Kenner didn't, and the dashboard and glove compartment are black in the Hasbro version, they were blue in the original. In addition, the quality of the molding is higher on the reproduction, the doors lock better and the roof-seat is a bit shorter.
The trick with the bug eyed monster dude is, judo chop the back, always worked for me.
The new one is hard. My 5yo can't get it to work and I gotta whack it pretty good to get it to work for me.
Beautiful! Love that they brought back ECTO-1 and Bug-Eye! Sure brings me back to old memories of seeing the original figures in stores and so on. Good stuff! Another great video! Keep the love and passion alive!
You had to hit the old version really hard on the back and then the eye would pop out.

You had to chop Bug-Eye's back with your hand to send the eyeball flying out. A quick hard karate chop.

Great review Dan! Your enthusiasm is contagious. I'm still waiting on my Ecto-1 but I did get both of the ghosts in a timely manner from Walmart... and gasp... the cards weren't bent! I didn't have any of these figures as a kid so for me this is like going back in time to get a brand new toy that I didn't have. I also hope these are plentiful on the shelves. I've seen the main Ghostbusters figures but none of the ghosts so these ghosts may not be clogging up the shelves.
Just picked up 2 Fearsome Flush and 2 Bug Eye Ghost at my local Walmart. So, stores are starting to stock these. Be on the lookout. Can't wait for Ecto-1.
I remember playing with one of the neighborhood kids and finding that bug eye ghost under his back porch, and him giving it to me. It was old, dirty, and the eye no longer popped out (this was at least a decade after it's original release, real ghostbusters were a bit before my time) but i cleaned it up, and it became one of my favorite toys. I'm so glad to own it once again.
I got the whole line minus the ghost popper, made me smile seeing these again with the artwork. Wish they released more but I believe the line is done.

I forgot how nice the steel claw looked. It's very 80's cyberpunk in contrast to Ecto-1's early 50's Cadillac aesthetic. The one I had was Ecto-1A, which came with even more stickers. But somehow I wound up losing the roof gunner chair like right away.

I never owned any of these figures as a kid so the nostalgia is not there for me, but I do remember them and it is cool that they are available again for the people that do really want them.Thanks for showing them off...

I had the ecto-1 as a kid and got a vintage one recently (damaged and yellowing sadly). I'm so getting the reissue.
dude! to this day, I had no clue that the muffler was how you locked the grabbing claw. Maybe I'm just forgetting because we definitely were successful in winding it in, but that is so cool that it works that way. I also don't remember that the string could be put up on the ceiling like that. The string is all black in the vintage ones so I guess seeing the white string is how you'd know from afar if it was new or old.
I'm really loving the Ecto -1 and I used to have that Bug Eye Monster actually that was my Older Brother favorite
I had a sibling who was afraid to use the toilet around 1990, and I always wondered if they got a good look at my Fearsome Flush fig at some point. Could have been the thing from one of those Look Who's Talking movies though. Anywho, great to see Flushy available again.
Our Bug-Eye worked fine, we used to pop his eye out all the time, i would even say that he worked to well, so i guess it is age or just a difference in how it was produced, i think there were differences even back then.
I loved the cartoon. I always watched it. And I had a few of the toys. Such fond memories!
I ordered a bug eye ghost and a green ghost slimer recently from walmart. And slimer arrived with a perfect card. While my bug eye ghost had a bent up card and the bubble was detached when I got it. Oh well I was going to open it anyway.
Love this bug eye ghost Kind of gives him a little more articulation since you can point the eye in different directions. If you want to launch it best to have him pointing down for a little gravity assistance.
It just clics when you pull the claw... My uncle's one went KRAKRAKRAKRAKRA!

I find using an exacto knife as an applicator makes the sticker thing a lot more precise and a lot easier.

Also, FWIW I could never get the claw to hang on to the ghost with my vintage Ecto-1 either.

I remember having Fearsome Flush, I thought a toilet ghost was so cool as a kid, I'm hoping they'll re-release the humans that turned into ghosts/monsters, I had the garbage man and the mail man.
@KenMantheUltimate: The Haunted Human series was one of my favorites of the Real Ghostbusters toy line. I still have my Terror Trash (Garbage man) action figure and I believe I still have my Mail Fraud (Postman) action figure too.
Never owned either Bug Eye Ghost or Fearsome Flush as a boy, despite wanting to badly. Now I can make up for that oversight. Got an Ecto 1 on pre-order as well, looking forward to its arrival. I hope that the seatbelt on the rooftop chair is not as brittle as it was on the original toy. I snapped mine at some point in my childhood and from looking at various online sales for the Kenner Real Ghostbusters toys other fans did as well.
It looks great it looks just like the old one for the most part Ecto-1, but the tires look different. Maybe I am remembering it wrong.
On the bug eyed monster you pretty much have to place it on a hard surface and punch the back of the monster to get it to shoot out!
The figures and ghost popper have been readily available at my Walmart’s so these should be too, I can’t wait for my Ecto 1 I really miss my vintage one I am waiting to open my figures until I have it
To get the bug-eyed ghost to pop his eye out, I always had to smack his back like I was giving him CPR compression presses. It would fly pretty far that way, and would have probably cleared the room if not for the string. Either way, it took a fair bit of force that didn't phase me as a kid but makes me cringe now. LOL

If the Firehouse is in Wave 3 I'm gonna freak. I ordered 2 Ectos and have an Ecto-1A sticker sheet handy, so my daughter is going to have both versions of this vehicle to play with. Can't wait! And yeah, Walmart shipping destroyed my Fearsome Flush and Bug-Eye cards, too.
From what I understand, the line is finished now.
Could you revisit this to show if the Ecto-1 scales with the Plasma series figures or the Mattycollector Ghostbusters?

I just picked up the Bug-Eye Ghost for my daughter and was kinda bummed the eye didn't pop out when squeezing it, but couldn't remember of the original popped at all or if I was just thinking it should. Funny thing is when my daughter looked at it, first thing she tried to do is see if the eye would pop out if she squeezed it. There are ingrained expectations!
As for Walmart shipping.. I got mine jammed in a box slightly too small for the card, no packing material, and the box had been banged up

Did you find the Ecto on the shelf? My Walmart preorder is for August and I have only seen a few on Ebay
I can't tell if it's just the age of the old one, but the seam lines are new fearsome flush are almost invisible compared to the original.
Are they reusing the original molds for the toys?

The same mechanism as used on the 'Indiana Jones' truck, where you can recreate the 'Raiders Of The Lost Ark' desert chase.
Wal-Mart is blowing these out for dirt cheap. Grabbed one today, and it is AWESOME.

It would be nice to get the ecto 2 and a real show accurate Janine and redo of Lewis. Samhain too. Let’s get show ghosts like the boogie monster and sandman. I like the old stuff but new things in the theme would ADD to the vintage stuff. Stretch the line further too.
If you started the back window at the top edge, it wouldn’t have been crooked. The trick is to find the straightest edge and apply to that.
I have owned at least 2 of these, the one I had as a kid in the late eighties and other I bought off eBay in 2008. Unfortunately like most old toys they yellowed pretty badly.. I swear the original car had a black cord on that hook and not a white one. I could be remembering that wrong but I don't think so. Honestly, if they're going to release the ecto 1 then I wouldn't be surprised if the firehouse is next. If they only release 3 more things in the real Ghostbusters line it had better be the firehouse, proton pack, and the ecto 2 helicopter.
My five and six year old boys and I were yelling at the screen: “karate chop the ghost, Dan!” Your bug eye ghost is. It defective, just give that bad boy a good chop or a pound with a fist on its back and the eye will pop out nicely.
I’m glad I pred’ flush. &he sold out on line. & I had the ecto but couldn’t find my self liking it. Cool though. But as a kid I just had the figures.

I managed collect all 4 Ghostbusters, Slimer & Stay Puft Marshmallow Man by looking at @Walmart stores and paid them with cold hard cash.
When I played with Bug eye as a kid, I would make my hand into a fist and bring it down like a hammer to get the eye to pop out
