From 1986 to 1991, Kenner's The Real Ghostbusters toy line produced many memorable action figures. Of course one of the prime pieces in the collection was the massive Firehouse Playset! Let's take a look at it!

Another awesome video. I was born in 1990 and in about 1994 my mom got me the Fire Hall along with like 20 figures and the ecto-1 from the second hand store. I was so excited. For years the Fire Hall would also serve as a building for Spiderman to fight villains on the top of the roof. So many memories

Bob Fresno yes sir! I got lucky on the price, but just repurchased almost the entire set of original Ninja Turtles 🐢 my son loves them, so do I. Wish I kept all this stuff, man. All the GI-Joe, M.A.S.K., turtles, ghostbusters, micro machines, hot wheels, and on and on. At least I kept the video game stuff.

I feel your pain. Sadly, I can't blame my parents as I destroyed most of my toys as a kid. Stuffing black cats in Optimus Prime and spray painting Teddy Ruxpin silver. I mainly collect video games now but occasionally I get the urge to pickup childhood toys here & there. I had some sealed RGB Fright Features figures and a sealed Fearsome Flush but I've since sold those.
I just recently picked up a complete Ecto-1 and loose figures for $90 which wasn't too bad and now I'm debating on the firehouse and some haunted humans and other ghosts I used to have. But yeah... it's hard to justify the prices. Plus my 3 year old likes to play with them so I'm always on edge that something will get damaged. I just let him open up a sealed Ecto-1 Hot Wheels I had for a few years but luckily those are still cheap if I decide I want it again.

I was so excited when I got that set, the feature I loved the most was being able to fit the Ecto inside of it. I really appreciate they made those "steps" to act as a ramp so even with it sticking out past the base it didn't hinder the play of being able to push the Ecto through the doors. Unfortunately my set was destroyed by a house fire, but I still have the Ecto and a lot of the figures. It's funny you mention the sign being easily lost, because it was one of only two pieces of the set to survive the fire and I still have it.

  • @The_Bad_Guy.
    @The_Bad_Guy. Před 4 lety +5

Damn that's hilarious. We used to think that painting on the top floor was granny gross also! And we used to pretend that little notch out on the 2nd floor below the books was the toilet.... Yes our Ghostbusters used to go to the bathroom regularly.

Sadly I never had this or any of the vehicles as my Mum just couldn't afford them (single Mum's weren't really a thing in the 80's, at least not here in the UK.) so I only got my Fire station about 10 years ago. I was lucky I got one in pristine condition with almost no yellowing at all. Can't wait to get it out on display after moving so much in recent years!
My Mum did manage to get me a few figures and I had that Slimer you used in your video and I loved playing with that. Mum made me use a tray to play on though as she didn't want slime on the carpet! 🤣
My Mum has been incredibly supportive of my toy collecting; how many Mums would still be buying their 40-something daughter Optimus Prime figures for Xmas eh? I love my Mum, she's awesome!

I still have mine, it's possibly the oldest toy I have from my childhood. Mine only has the two floors, but I do also have the ghostbusters sign (I found it a thrift store years ago). Above all I wish I had the doors, to say nothing of the spinning pole. Oh well. For years I had it set up next to my bed and used it as a bedside table, with my alarm clock on top of it. Now its on a bookshelf. I don't have an original ecto-1, but I do have the Extreme Ghostbusters version (which is slightly too tall to go in and out of the front). All in all, this was an amazing toy and one I'm so glad I was able to hang on to over the years.

There's an eBay seller that has a 3D printed set of doors - even made a set that has the doors within the doors open - just like in the movie and TV show - I ordered the non door in a door simply because I plan on keeping my Ecto 1 in mine and the doors are going to be open most of the time anyway, but I still wanted something - even ordered the sign - which I'm thinking of painting with some glow in the dark paint to actually kinda glow - mainly it'll be a display for my RGB figures now

I loved this playset, though it really didn’t have the play value of say castle greyskull or a gi joe set. I mean, it’s Ghostbusters! I couldn’t get enough of the toys as a kid. As an adult, the playmobile firehouse is 10x cooler and has more use to it. We even decorate it with Christmas miniature lights and such from wal mart. Great way to get the kids into playing with toys. Now as far as the comment about a re-release like matty did with heman, that would been excellent! Their 6 inch Ghostbusters were everything I wanted as a kid, however to many nit pickers killed that off and they stopped the line. They had planed an ecto 1 with lights and siren for their 6 inch line, but not enough backers. I can only dream that someone makes the firehouse for that scale someday. The diamond select left me with a meh reaction to the sculpts, couldn’t get past the stomach look, and think a firehouse in that scale would be way to costly. But with the new movie coming out, I’m already ready to get a 3rd mortgage on my house for the toys!

My parents never allowed any of the ectoplasm and/or ooze! Frankly I never blamed them even as a kid, for that stuff was a nightmare to clean up!

Would be huge if Walmart’s next project is the firehouse for my ecto1. Maybe something soon for the new movie?

This set was also used in the movie the witches.
But they removed the ghostbusters logo

Question for anyone to answer. I recently bought on ebay a used TRGB Firehouse playset. Unfortunately the one I bought the fire pole only spins about halfway down than stops. I saw a video recently from Michael Mercy stating that if you push the platform where you place your figures straight up instead of rotating it up it can damage the fire pole permanently. Is there a way to fix this so the platform can go straight down the pole smoothly without stopping mid way ?

I bet with hasbro's acquiring of the ghostbusters license I bet they re issue a lot of original kenner figures for collectors.

Would it be possible to Retrobrite one of these to get rid of the yellowing? I’ve never seen one in person, but it looks like that same 80s computer case plastic.

Possibly! I was thinking I need to try something like this on it. It reminds me of what happens to SNES systems!

Yep, just brush on some hydrogen proxide, leave the plastic exposed to direct sunlight for a few days, and the yellowing should fade away.

I got it in a huge lot of vintage star wars stuff. I had been looking for one since I was a kid, my grandmother had one at her house she sold at a yard sale. When I checked out the lot it was a mega find, Ghostbusters stuff wasn't even in the description. Nor were the few ewok line figures! I sold all the figures and vehicles except the translucent ghosts and the toilet ghost! The reason we hunt!!!
