- Join Jay as he reviews the latest addition to Hasbro's Real Ghostbusters Kenner Classics toy line The Ecto-1 !! It is the first vehicle in the line and a legendary one at that. How does this Ecto stack up to the original release? We will break down the packaging and the car to the original Kenner release to see if they created a worth successor to the OG toy Ecto-1!

Agreed! I'm Hoping for The Same with other Lines. And not just the packaging. Ghostbusters got it right. We want the Exact same figures we had as kids. Without having to pay hundreds of dollars for one figure!

@@DANNYDOLLARS That Would Be Awesome!! Good call with the Playmates Ninja Turtles. I know because of popularity The Playmates Adams Family line probably doesn't have a chance. It would be Very Cool though because there were Characters that were advertised on the back, but never got released...they could finally release a complete Collection! Also the Tales from the Crypt Series and Terminator 2 line would be cool to see on shelves again as well. ✌️😎
@@DANNYDOLLARS DUDE!! They Did It! Playmates released all four OG Turtles. I found a Donatello at Walmart this Morning! CRAZY😵...He was the Last one on the Shelf, manager said their getting another shipment Sunday. So If I'm lucky and get them. I'll be making a Video on them.✌️😎 Hope you find some as well.
I bought two and picked up an Ecto 1A sticker sheet, so now my lil' ghosthead has both just like I did when I was a kiddo. Firehouse: your turn...
I should have gotten 2 to do the same... oh well, hopefully they show up at retail closer to the movie! And I agree would love the firehouse!
So glad Hasbro did this line, never had them as a kid, was lucky to fund all four figures and ecto1 in stores and online, saves so much time and money trying to find a good condition vintage version of them.
Every Ecto-1 is coming with creased sticker sheets. However, they're VERY easily straightened out, thankfully. I'm so glad I pre-ordered 3 of these months ago (arrived last week), as I don't think they're coming to stores for the most part and are all sold out online. They did a great job with it.

Found this at Walmart randomly last night. Had to get the manager to do an online price match. In store it was 45, online 40. They had two and I left one. Wanna take it out of the box and compare it to my original (which held up pretty well for being well over 30 years old). Great review!

Quick update, I found two Ecto-1 vehicles on Walmart shelves last night. The retail price was $44.97. I only bought one.
I saw it today again. They had 4 on the shelf at Walmart this time. The previous time there were 2. Passed because I haven't seen the retro cartoon figures for a while now. If I have known this ecto 1 be out now. I have gotten the figures before then this. I don't want to get it just for it to look plain without the figures. Besides I don't like paying these scalpers what they want online.
The shorter length cable that reels in the ghost trap probably adds to the play value, since it requires less runway (or table or floor space) to complete the move.
For me you can’t beat the original just because that car is too big a part of my childhood in my mind! Great vid!
Hoping for a re-release of the ghost trap next!

oohhhhh, so the one i just bought is COMPLETELY different. I thought the Afterlife one was just a re-release with the drone instead of claw
"40-year-old plastic." Man. I remember being 5 and getting this for Christmas. I can't believe that the time between 1986 and now is about the amount of time from WWII to 1986. That's a long time to have come and gone so fast.
That brings back bad memories of my parents video recording everything. Mostly my dad. It was like every event taking place on a movie set or something with a long lengthy interview that you didn't want to do. Like when I'd get in trouble at school, at home my dad would get out the video camera to record us talking about it and what my punishment was going to be. I hated the camera. Plus they would video tape sport competitions and Karate that they made me do and I wasn't good at it either. And then at home my dad would make us watch it for an entire day and do slo mo and rewind of every mistake you made or whatever to go over it with a magnifying glass. I hated it. Haha. That doesn't even count getting lashings say, for example, every time on the video in a Karate sparing competition you didn't block a kick or a punch he thought should have been blocked, etc. Torture. He'd even sometimes record Karate practice to make us rewatch what we did. You can't even imagine how much I hated the video camera.
Geeze, that’s awful! No nothing like that for our home movies just birthdays, Christmas and vacations for us.
@@GeekDadLife The filming and having to be essentially interviewed for every step you made was such a pain. Though it was all a waste of time as they've pretty much never have gone back and watched all of those tapes. All of these years later, I think they've only watched like half of one tape.

Awesome video! I really hope I can find an Ecto-1 on shelf. I received an “in stock” email from Wal-Mart last week and they were sold out by the time I saw the email. The hunt is on.

My Ecto-1 survived into adulthood. However, it was murdered by my cat when she went nuts one day and knocked it down right on the roof. Fortunately, replacing it was relatively easy at the time.
Great Video. I really do hope that the line isn't truly canceled and that Hasbro officially decides on to continue with this line. Either way I did my part to support the line by buying 3 of each item. 1 to open up for display in my collection and 2 to keep mint on card or in package. I am extremely Lucky in the fact that I have either found or received all of my Kenner classics with their packaging completely un-damaged and perfectly MINT. Lets just hope that the Fan poll Hasbro did five months ago wasn't just a waste of time for everyone and that we will officially get at least one more wave of The Real Ghostbusters figures, Ghosts, Vehicles, Role-playing items and what had to be the most voted for item the only playset that was made the firehouse headquarters. either way I am extremely happy with what we got if this is truly it. Looks lovingly over at all of my Peter Venkman, Ray Stantz, Egon Spengler, Winston Zeddemore, The Green Ghost Slimer, The Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man, The Bug-Eye Ghost, The Fearsome Flush, The Ghost-Popper and finally the Ecto-1. Yep defiantly Dammed pleased with what we have gotten so far from Hasbro/Kenner. I really do Love watching your channel so please keep up all the good work that you do.

I hope it didn't het cancelled, for a complete retro collection for Ghostbusters they need to do the firehouse... obviously... and ecto-2! Ecto 1a should've just been an extra sticker sheet included with this and if people wanted both they would have to buy 2, 1a would be a wasted release taking up a spot for something else... ecto-2 was uses just as much as ecto-1 in the show!

As a kid always wanted these as a kid sadly we couldn’t afford it. These hasbro releases brought out the kid in me again. Just need Winston to my collection. Now the hard part is ……. Do I open them? 🤔

It looks cuter than the after life version. It's rounder and cartoon like while the after life model is just a straight copy of a real car.
I bought the Kenner classics ecto and the newer hasbro ecto. The classics is much sturdier

I got the Ecto1 today, I bought all Kenner classics minus the ghost popper. I will keep them in there packaging. Love the retro artwork. I think this line is discontinued. It’s a bummer, I would’ve got more of the re issues. My only gripe is I wish the proton packs were like the originals, like how they plugged in the back. Otherwise it’s nice to see these again.
I have left mine in the packages... The new ones do not attach to the figure at all?? No peg that plugs in back of the figure?
Jay, did you notice the back door being any tighter or looser than the original when it is shut? Mine is very loose and unintentionally comes open very easily. I’m trying to see if anyone else has experienced the same issue.
I’ve heard of this issue happening, I will say mine stays shut, but I can see how it could be loose on some examples.

My Kenner classic- the back window door/hatch does not stay firmly closed
Do the Plasma series figures work in this? I still have hopes of them making a movie Ecto 1 but until then I’m wondering if it will work?

I'm glad they didn't. With a repro Ecto-1A sticker sheet, this can easily double as both versions of the car.
the original is so much better. on my 2021 re-release, the back hatch does not stay shut. falls open constantly

It's literally indistinguishable from the original. Except for having the missing parts and lacking the beige discoloration of 2nd hand smoke, humidity and back yard action.

I think this one is overpriced since the gunner seat ecto is only $26.99 at target
I don’t blame this thought, but I will say this Kenner Ecto has way more plastic and is way more sturdy feeling than the regular release Ecto.
It's not overpriced. It's on par with the original Kenner release, accounting for inflation, and this toy is much higher quality than the Afterlife cars.
When I pre-ordered them back in January or February, they were only $30. And when Wal-Mart was a few days late shipping it, they took another $8 off each one I got, so I only ended up paying about $22 for each one. And that movie-version Gunner seat Ecto is TERRIBLE, IMO. Super-cheaply made and looks silly. It's practically a blow-mold.
