I’d love to see hasbro commit to remaking all of the original The Real Ghostbusters toys and maybe they’ll make characters, vehicles and playsets that Kenner never made. You know give ghostbusters the treatment they’re giving their Star Wars retro collection.
You are correct about the 80's bug eyed ghost. The body is a bit tough. I remember having difficulty popping the eye out when I was a kid because the body was so stiff.
@Ghostbusters News: For Christmas 1986, I got the Ecto 1 from Kenner. It was one of the best Christmas presents ever. I played with it quite a bit during my childhood in the 1980's. Seeing it being offered for sale again brings back a lot of memories.
When the first series of reissues hit, I purchased two sets of action figures. One to keep mint on the cards and the other to open and let my nephews enjoy when they visit me. Defiantly going to do the same with this series as well.
I've got them all preordered and cannot wait. I really hope we get more in this line. Real Ghostbusters has always been my favorite and getting more ghosts and vehicles would be great.

Well, when Hasbro had a poll asking what we'd want next in the retros, the Ecto was number one and the firehouse was number two...they'd already had Ecto in the pipeline, so I'm sure it's coming. I really love this Kenner line and it's helped me make up for not having all the cool toys as a kid!
Omg do you have any idea how much my son in law would love the ghost buster house and characters and car to give to his little boy. He grew up and loved ghost busters in fact him and his wife my daughter and my grandson dressed up as ghost busters. What a treasure you have I hope your children love playing with all the treasures you have. Way to go and thanks for sharing the amazing things you have.
Yeah when i saw the guys on the shelf at Walmart i felt like a kid all over. I could tell the cardstock was a bit different but it was amazing to see them on the shelf right next to He-Man toys
very close to the originals I think Hasbro has done an amazing job at these recreations, it's actually made me rethink the bugeye ghost it looks cool with the bigger eye.

Unpopular opinion here but I thought the Ecto-1 was a miss, even as a kid. I always loathed the seat on top and was frustrated that you couldn’t seat four Ghostbusters inside the car. You had to put two in the front and just lay the other two in the back. And forget trying to load the proton packs with their long streams into the car. I think the Playmobil release is a major upgrade. Seating for the four Ghostbusters, racks for the proton packs, and electronic lights and sounds (and no roof seat).
I love Fearsome Flush but I would've preferred H2-Ghost for Wave 2 of the Kenner Classics since H2-Ghost was 1 of the 3 carded Ghosts from the original Wave 2
if you buy another Ecto-1. you can take the chair from it and put it in the back of this Ecto-1 and now you have 4 seats in an Ecto-1 for all 4 Ghostbusters
One thing you didn't address: those red tail fins! I had issues with the original ecto of the red fins coming loose and coming off. I'd have to pop them back In all the time. Wonder if they managed to fix that at all? Glad they fixed the flush an bottom of ecto. I hated getting carpet, hair, etc stuck up in the bottoms.
No question. You can quickly see the differences between the vehicles. The quality from back then was not necessarily the most important thing that seems very different today just like with other toys (remember jurassic park from kenner). Everyone spallt and knew about the vehicle from the outside, be it the doors, the color or accessoiers such as stickers are a visual measure. However, there is a problem, today's toys break quickly after a short time at play, which was not the case with the originals or was only minimized, as they were made more robust.
I love seeing all this awesomeness. Sadly I've never had a single ghostbusters toy show up at my Wal-Mart here in nova scotia. Was hoping to start collecting when they first started releasing everything sadly no ghostbusters in my neighborhood 😢
I would love to collect this series but I’m just so tired of international (uk) fans getting badly screwed over on the price, we have to pay sometimes double when you factor in exchange rates. :(
@@GhostbustersNews unfortunately it's nothing to do with that bud. Take the standard figures they're $15 which is roughly about £11. The standard figure sell in the UK for £16 which is about $22. The ecto is even worse selling for £60. If I was importing that would be understandable but this is off the shelf prices. I know it's standard and sadly the way things work but it still sucks
Assuming it hasn't been left in sunlight too long, plastic from the '80s shouldn't degrade much...some older plastics got gooey and sticky with age, but that was 1960s and earlier..
Love this series 2. Does indeed have minor changes. Bug-eye is indeed a different shade from the original 1987 release, his body is so much softer for the action feature, my original got a crack in his tail by 1991 from stepping on him since he was so hard. The newer has harder arms tho. Fearsome Flush is also indeed slightly different shades. My MIP one and loose from 89 are indeed a different skyblue. I like how the new one can hold Plazm in the bowl. Woooo! The new Ecto is also indeed more white, and the windows are more clear. Most of these changes in the whole classics line are most likely changes in the plastic production types compared to the 80's. 80's plastics were typically saturated in PVC types with flame retardants, it would yellow quicker and was typically never true white like teeth naturally are. Wish series 2 gets US cardbacks. Surprised it released with the Canadian variant worldwide... Now it wont match 1st production US series 1... D'oh!
You did not mention that the windshields are pretty much different on those Ecto-1s?! The newer one appars to be more "bubbly" and higher than the old version. Great video, apart from that!
I do wish they didn’t do the clicky wheels. They get so loud. My kids run around quickly pushing the original Ecto-1 that I have and it really is murder for the ears.

I'm disappointed in the choice of the figures. They're some of the cheapest and most readily available on secondary markets. I wasn't expecting anything amazing like a new receptionist deco Janine figure made in the same spirit as Hasbro's new Moff Tarkin figure done in the retro star wars style, but I do hope before the RGB reto line ends that we get the ectoglow figures as I never saw them once as a kid.

I never had the original RGB stuff, but I’m having a blast getting them now.

Yeah. The roof line isn't dipped down like on the original. It looks like the original also had corners instead of smooth curves at the wrap-arounds.
The original Ecto looks like a Afterlife version
