The Rode has a rough, abrasive high end edge that needs eq-ing. The DJI sounded smoother on the highs.
with the dji single mic package could you later by a 2nd mic for the receiver to have the 2 mics. i love the dji mic and want to eventually have the dual mics but right now i just need the one.
Best comparison i have seen. Keep up the work
Good morning Javen, thanks for the very detal info, I think this very good for beginner just like me.
Interesting. How does dynamic work when there is long pauses in recording. Does it ramp up to catch the background and then ramp down when talking. I never had much luck with auto gain in the past. In the end this is a tough area. On the one hand automation is a great time saver, but editing is still needed and there are so many great tools for audio on post that it may make these features a little useless as skills improve. Good review.
Hi Jeven, can you start a playlist for external mics? My camera only has internal mic. How do you use a mic, edit, etc? Thanks. Appreciate ur channel
Thanks Jeven for another great video đđ
Since your main selling point is the dynamic audio on the Rode, it would have been cool if you did some simulated dynamic shifts like holding the mic up to you mouth while whispering then quickly yelling into it. I think that have shown the capabilities (or lack there of) better than the counting test, especially since on both count tests you switched to the Rode second, giving it plenty of time to regulate the audio before the switch. Also, does the dynamic mode affect battery life?
In general any device that has dynamic turned on It a huge power battery consuming. DJI I use are the best, you choose settings Done every.
Dji 1 tx 1 receiver mzian akhoya laachir b nisba li kaydir videos f dar b iphone? Wla Rode me?
Question - we are a family starting content creation, vlogging, meal prepping travel, etc. We are looking for a good omni-directional (to catch the families) voice while in the house. What mic do you recommend?
can you use Me with DJI Action 2 sa me way as DJI Mic, with some adapter instead of a cable? thanks
VS. Sennheiser MKE400 is a direkt to face mic but is the sound better as the Rode ME ?
The reason why I am thinking of purchasing either is the lack of a back up when something happens and we are filming, BUT the gain ASSIST is a great feature to have as well LOL... hopefully that's something we can get through an OS update for the DJI
Thank you Jeven for the inspiration.
Guys did any of you experience that problem, when you try to turn on the transmitter on rode wireless go 2, it just does not turn on, or turns on very hard?I bought second time this microphones and still it has same problem with the transmitter...
For Sony cameras, ZV1, FX30, ZV E10, will I need to adjust the cameraâs mic input level? I currently use the Wireless GO II, but need to adjust the camera settings for everyone I film. Some subjects are loud, and others are quiet.
Hey from other videos I saw yes you do! I have the zv 1 and I put the camera mic to level 4 when I use dji mic or rode me mic
How about Rode 2 compared to Me? Can you do similar things in the app?
Wireless ME is certainly a good option for many. The backup feature of the DJI is why I will not be jumping systems. I am happy with the sound. The touch screen may not appeal to everyone, but for me I don't think I could go back. It reminds me of when I got the one of the first Canon (70D?) bodies that supported touch screen. Going back to my older models like the 6D was so frustrating. I think I would have similar issues with another mic system if I left DJI for a "cheaper" alternative.
What an amazing review
Just fyi the "Wireless ME" is a cheaper version of the Wireless Go 2 (which has internal backup recording). They are just giving out more options to people.
Does the rode ME work with gopros? Im a newbie and looking for a good. mic for interviews
QUESTION: I have actors in close range that turn their back to the camera! Does Rode ME drop signal at 20 feet when the actor turns around and faces other directions???
can you vlog using the receiver mic only?
A very fair review. I bought the DJI and like it very much.
I use Rode Wireless Go 2. Nice quality product, but sometimes I lost audio and recording very strange noise.
Great video. Curious...what is the black backpack you are using to hold the mics? Seems perfect for a photographer.
This one czcams.com/video/C01ShVz9-sw/video.html
Thank you đđđ
Great review....no back up recording though is a dealbreaker...
Nice video Jeven, appreciate all you do. So I take it the Rodes Me comes with only one transmitter?
Hi, it has 1 transmitter, that you can attach a lav mic to, and 1 receiver. The receiver also has a mic in it although you can't attach a lavilier mic to it so if you want to do that the audio sounds don't match. I've just done a review of the RODE Me on my channel and tried it in loads of scenarios and discovered some of these quirks.
@@SlipstreamCreativeAgency I think I meant to say receiver
@Suitcase Junkies đ€Łyes 1 receiver with a transmitter built in and I stand alone tansmiter đ
Does it work with laptop mac ?
As someone really new to audio, does the ease of this outweigh dialing things in on the DJI? Or is DJI relatively easy when you get the hang of it?
Hi Jeff, I've just reviewed both on my channel and to be honest the DJI was actually easier and did work straight out the box. It was nice to have the adjustments you may need, as you go, right there. Fell free to check out my take on them :)
Couldnât the DJI Mic add an update for an auto gain function? Does the Rode Wireless Go get this option?
Thatâs what I was thinking.
Iâve been thinking of getting a mic setup to add to my Insta360 One X2. I think Iâll still go with the DJI Mic.
Adjustment layer not long enough ?
Nope
One thing that I cannot find is how well the DJI microphones do in a highly saturated Wi-Fi area. Currently, I have the RGW2 and they sometimes produce a crackling noise when in a highly saturated, wireless interfering area, even if I am 3 to 5 feet away.
After the video, Rode deliver a much better sound and the DJI give a lot of great futures. So I am still confused wich one to choose....
Jeven, great vid ! Do you have a list of settings for the dji mic for different scenarios ? Like do you have settings that are great for outside settings for indoors, etc.? Thanks !
Hereâs how I use the DJI mic czcams.com/video/C7Cg2V6kpGw/video.html
Great comparison
Cool review. But You forget test if it works with the body barrier near the camera. Everybody forget that gym teschers, YĂŽga teachers also do videos.
For fitness you need a Rode wireless pro for the transmitter backup recording. I run a fitness production company outside of my CZcams channel and I wonât use a wireless system unless it has a transmitter backup because as soon as you lay down on it youâll cut out any transmitter
i am sold on the dji mic and about to pull the trigger soon with my resources. they better not release dji mic 2 so soon down the road đ
The video you were recommending at the end wasn't showing up.
its up now
Can the Dji mic be used on the Dji drones?
Hereâs how I use it with a drone czcams.com/video/g95ZrfxkA6Y/video.html
In Netherlands prices of both are similar. No big difference. Just âŹ10
Interesting new Mic from Rode, it seem to have some interesting features. And nice comparison to the DJI Mic system, which is currently my favorite wireless mic system. Great review, and thanks for sharing.
Honestly the rode sounds much better. Great video.
That audio adjust is trick. Damn.
Iâm thinking of the Rode Me
This video is like a rode commercial, you included very little of the sound recordings made with DJI. We couldn't compare.
Nice vid bro
Thats really bad that wireless me lost the signal & theres no audio anymore. For a wireless mic I think its that most needed argument: that you can produce good Audio in a bigger distance to camera.
Very cool! I love my Rode 'Wireless Go'. All good products. Thank you! đđ
i know its an editing mistake in the first second that the video was not color graded. but i love it that I get to see how the video was originally, from someone whos learning how to make youtube.
I expected better audio syncing to your video from you. Still great info
Whatâs out of sync?
@@JevenDovey the audio, after you stop to show you lost the audio track.
@@DD-Aerial-Photography All that audio was recorded in camera so if the sync was off then its an issue with the recording.
@@JevenDovey it was my tv, ok watching on my phone
Nice mic
Bro this is so helpful! Thank you! đ i bought the DJI but its not compatible with my phone đ so now i need the Rode Me but bc it's cheaper i thought it sucks, but your video is reassuring! I like the sound of Rode. It's perfect. thanks again for your effort! Have a nice day âšïž
Que teléfono tienes?
I just brought some wireless microphones off Amazon for ÂŁ25 the other week and they donât sound bad
Rode Auto Gain is amazing.
Just out of curiosity I bought a King Lucky M18 and for normal use you canât fault it. Letâs face it who actually wants to be 200 metres away from their cameras?
I do all the time.
@@JevenDovey you want to look like an ant on camera?
@@Thorpeman yes that is exactly why I walk away from camera
Not being able to take a lav mic is a big difference
Jeven excellent comparison. Iâm gearing towards the DJI. Iâm not a creator just a beginner photographer
Jeven, as a beginner, can I some benefits from your creator school even though I am doing just photographs and not so much video? Thx
@@alrozanski8352 The creator film school is for making youtube and video content. I don't talk about photography
@@JevenDovey ok thank you
I prefer compare with Wireless go Gen 1 and gen 2 single edition better.
Ok make the comparison then.
the quality of rodes microphones by themselves and their constant inability to process "s" sounds or the annoying hisses that persist throughout the range are just bad
whatever the situation is id rather get better quality audio than want to scratch out my ear canals from the hissing
it has the same issue with the previous generations as well
I thought you were going to bust a move there for a second.
Also, the end screen didnât pop up.
end screen is up
dji all the way,,. no application needed simply connect and Good to go
So it's something that dji can add as an update
no idea
Has anyone experienced a massive drop off in gain using the DJI transmitter as a standalone recorder? The first 10 minutes may be the +6 gain that I have it programmed for, but then suddenly the audio will be barely audible.
Nice video but whatâs with crappy midday lighting?
Who cares this video is about a mic.
Yeah why do you need a cinematic mic video?
Wonderful đâđ Jeven
To Bad Rode is Stinking with the old outdated Form Faktor . SLIM and light is the way to go.. Got me the Hollyland M1 .. Never looked back.
what about the audio thats the reason why you buy mic not for the style
@@froggyfrulz Its great .. I have the Rode wireless go aswell and there is hardly any differens. I Work on my Audio in Post anyway. And i must disagree with the style Thing .. The Rodes are Just to clunky and always fall forward. The dji or Hollyland m1 Systems stay in place wenn clipt to a shirt.
I like the Rode's feature of having a mic built-in to the receiver. That makes it perfect for interviews. It would be perfect if both had recorders in the rx and tx.
@@TheSpiv yeah was thinking same thing too.
@@TheSpiv unless you have an extra long audio cable.
I own the dji and rode me and one thing that I was impressed with the go me is it has way less floor noise in a room! I record in my room that is loud and the rode me picks up way less floor noise! The dji picks up so much noise and I tried all the gain settings đą
Isnt the dji mic 329$ not 219
The version with 2 mics and the charging case is. But there is a version with one mic.

6:17 100 meters is not thirty feet
Meant to say 300 my bad
Not sure if you noticed but the first two seconds are ungraded.
Yes I did notice.
Great review. Best demonstration of the auto gain feature of the Rode Me that Iâve seen. For me, the comparison wasnât with the singe mic DJI but the dual mic. Because I can get two mics with only two units, for half the cost of the DJI, it was a no brainer. Bonus for the auto gain.
DJI audio is clear and louder, Rode audio sounds like suppressed one.
after i had fight and struggle with rode... for quite while... and then started to use DJI mic... i will not use Rode even if they make i don't know what.... nae thanks.... and also this rode me.... looks like very cheap made
Sachinkrishna tech media
The same bulky and ugly design! No thank you! Much better Comica Vimo C, better design, smaller, more options, better range, the same good audio quality and chipper. Conclusion: the "new" Rode Me mic is worse than a cheep Chinese mics from Aliexpress.
First you did a boring comparison. Better you would have compared the new Rode Wireless ME to the older Rode Wireless Go II. And starting from here you could compare instead of two three wireless mic systems and add the DJI Mic. But an comparison of the Rode Wireless ME without the Rode Wireless Go II doesn't make any sence at all. Secondly the battery life of the DJI Mic you mentioned is the battery life of the entire setup including the carrying case. The recording/operation time of the DJI Mic without interrupting the recording to recharge the mics with the carrying case is significant shorter. Thus this comparison is also unfair. I dislike this review.
This is the one that made sense for me to make because I use the DJI MIC. Go make your own comparison if you have such a strong opinion about the one I made.
@@JevenDovey I agree. Would love to see his comparison video. Good review. Iâll stick with the DJI.
Did you pay for this review ?
I was specifically looking for this comparison because I donât own any of these mics since I sold my Sennheiser $900 system thinking I could do it all with a 416 boom.
Thanks for the review I was about to get the wireless me but the part where you pointed out that the sound was lost basically when you turned your back was the deal breaker for me. No one else has mentioned this that I could find anyway.
