  • India is betting on its local weapons manufacturers, including budding start-ups, to modernise its army and become a defence export hub. It is a dramatic shift for a country that has for decades been one of the world’s biggest arms importers. CNA’s Ishan Garg reports.

Accommodation of diversity has been key pillar of Indian Democracy since the ancient period. Unlike dictatorial regimes like China which force everything ; India is free and it is the major point of its success.
USSR tried to impose Russian Nationalism over all of its provinces leading to the end of USSR. China is also facing the same crises. For ed Han Chinese imposition in Inner Mongolia, Xinjiang , Tibet will ultimately led to its destruction.
But India is growing due to the accommodation culture.

India is not homogenous like most countries. In fact it is one of the few stable and extremely diverse countries on the planet precisely due to a culture of accommodation and understanding.

Wrong...India has a strong English base in academics and industries which is why it is easier for its industries to evolve quickly. One example is IT. Even in places like Japan IT struggles to bridge international blend of machines and use and many Indian IT specialists work on projects bybleafibg companies like TCS and Infosys. No...English specialization and its use for India is far greater than projected by this comment! Surprisingly there are more English speakers in this populous country to lead for many years and English has been ingrained unlike in many former commonwealth countries. This is a great strength to bridge various languages which are culturally rich and by far enriching...its a strength.Hindi speakers as rightly pointed out is just a small portion. Essentially what this does is to make more people bilingual or even tringual!!!

India is not a nation state. Nation comes from Latin "Nasci". The concept of modern nation state is people of one geographical area must be same ethnically. Base of ethnicity could be anything, but it is primarily Language. That is how most of the European states have been carved out. French speaking people live in France, German in Germany, English in England.
In India over 700 languages are Spoken. That's why India doesn't fit into category of Nation-State. India is a "Civilizational state"
