It also might be a scheduling factor. The Original Jean's voice might not be as sweet as 30 years ago. But she plays Valorie. The voices are close enough on the show that I think the quality of the show covers it up.
The "not again" bit suggests he's been trying to fix this Sentinel attack for a while. I wonder if this ties in with his otherwise not well explained activities in Genosha back in season 1 of XTAS...

This was originally unexplained, because it had nothing to do with his goal in the rest of their series to stop Apocalypse. We now know that was him trying to stop this event from happening.

This implies that at some point in the future someone told him about who his biological mother was and why she left him in the future.
