I am aware R Kelly got swindled out of his lengthy songwriting credits, was this Barry’s doing? Did he stay working with R Kelly in order to eff him up further down the line? Or did he decide business was more important than his niece on that occasion too?🤔
After hearing about the 90 million dollar payout from that interview, the alarm bells went off for me. Especially upon finding out about the agreement days before the tragic incident. I never used to listen to the conspiracy stories regarding Aaliyah's death but the information that has slowly came out these past few years... It's not looking good.
It makes so much sense why Barry dropped off the face of the earth, bought himself a mansion and went AWOL. He had no reason to continue working and we already know the rumours Aaliyah was planning to leave Blackground to join either Virgin or ROC nation. Who is going to deliver the justice before Barry passes is my only fear.
Roc Nation didn’t exist at that time . Rocafella records did and Aaliyah was already signed to Virgin records through a distribution deal with her uncles record label. Aaliyah’s death clearly had to do with money but I feel there’s so much in powers that be behind the scenes that made this tragedy happen cause since from the beginning it didn’t add up.

She’s been oh so quiet since the accident and has had nothing to say although she would’ve had to be in there with her until the very last moment, even though I know she was in the hotel with the dancers when the accident happened. And another person who was at the actual shoot as a background dancer is Carmit from the Pussycat Dolls, if you have noticed none of the dancers have spoken up about anything to do with rock the boat except one of them called nadine.
Something tells me that Barry never had the best intentions for his niece. She was just 💲 to him the same way his ex-wife Gladys Knight was as well.
Aaliyah should've had at least 50% ownership cause Blackground wasn't sh*t without her. It really is like I just feel like Aaliyah was failed and didn’t get the proper support she needed by her family it just seems like she’s only got it from her team she was working during the music video shoots and interviews

Aaliyah really didn't stand a chance, she had no one in her corner. Her ownership stake also probably explains why her Tim and Genuwine fell out. It makes you wonder if the rumours about her being in conflict with her label were true. I remember the rumours she was on strike or going to leave Blackground. The truth will come out eventually no matter how hard they try to keep it hidden.
I wouldn't have blamed her either. All the money and success she brought to that label and she only had 10% of the shares? Not to mention, all the times Barry screwed her out of higher charting singles and better sales

They probably realised Hollywood was calling and more than likely she would have been exposed to people who could get her career to the next level. Some people probably started to get nervous when the movie roles started coming in because it would mean she'd have less time to dedicate to music. A lot of things are starting to make sense about her career.
Aaliyah had other people looking at her so I'm sure she wouldn't have had any problem moving to a much bigger major label like Jive Records w/ Clive Davis who I had hoped she would ended up because Mr. Clive Davis allowed his artist to be themselves & he allowed them to explore music & all kinds of stuff like fora Example Alicia Keys who was just 17-18 years old told Clive what she wanted to do & be as an artist & he allowed her to be her & I'm sure If Aaliyah had contacted Clive he would have did the same for her as well as Bought her Music Catalog from Barry Hankerson & had Aaliyah being the Owner of her own Music etc & she would have had Opportunities to make More Money with bigger paying deals etc .

That right there gave me chills. Sometimes I feel that we should mentally move on from this, as it often feels as though we will never have the answers in our lifetime. Then a piece of information like this becomes available and it reminds me that us fans really can’t afford to let this go just yet.
I believe if the right people shone a light and re-investigated all of this then the full scale of what went down might finally be exposed. A large part of this is about justice for Aaliyah but mostly it’s because, in the hands of Barry, Jomo, Diane and Rashad, Aaliyah’s legacy has been allowed to flounder with intention. It’s as though they collectively wanted Aaliyah to be forgotten and the fans to shut up and stop making noise about it. That is never going to happen.
I have never in my lifetime witnessed a greater disconnect between the brilliance of a popular, much-loved artist and the lethargic, half-hearted handing of their legacy by their respective team. It’s been said before but it bares repeating, us fans are the only entity keeping Aaliyah’s legacy alive. Her legacy needs wrestling away from her messy, shady, dysfunctional team😪

From Barry celebrating the 90 mil HE KNEW he was gonna receive to actually seeing the date Aug 20, 2001 on those documents….a whole 5 days before we all lost Aaliyah. He planned this whole thing, I’m convinced. I also think he paid Hype Williams to hush 🤫. The fact that Aaliyah owned any percentage of blackground (which is VERY TELLING), that also makes me think Barry really had more to gain from Aaliyah after she passed. It's even more shameful because Aaliyah is his flesh and blood neice. Not only him but the rest of her family didn't do hardly anything to preserve or advance her legacy for years after her death. It was us fans keeping her legacy going and we still are riding hard for her till this day. I agree Blackground Record's foundational success was always Aaliyah and still is today. If the plane crash was not an accident and her uncle Barry Hankerson is still profiting from her death, living on a ranch and getting a $90 million payout. Then justice for Aaliyah lies in hands of her fans, who have to keep pushing for the truth to break down the wall of silence because something just doesn't sit right with this whole Barry Hankerson and Hype Williams situation.
Just out of curiosity... Aaliyah had a body guard. May he rest in peace. I would assume if there was a question regarding the planes safety. Would he not have stepped in and asserted himself. He was a huge man and could have put a stop to any coercion of his client to be put on that plane. Somethings not adding up.

These lawsuits are comparable to and can even be considered life insurance pay outs. insurance companies will pay families or the parent company of the de.ceased a certain amount after an accident like this. That amount is calculated using the current salary plus the potential gains the company could have made off the person in the future. This conversation has become popular regarding todays rappers.
I’d like to point out that this video answers a question you asked us in one of your previous vids about rumors/theories ppl have surrounding her accident. You asked what Barry would have gotten out of the loss, while mentioning that Aaliyah’s future success would have made her more $$ than her d.eath.

I always figured they set this up is because Aaliyah was wanting to leave black ground and venture out on her own. I believe Damon Dash said that was a goal of hers. She was already branching out and doing something new with her sound of music. So I guess before she could do that and they “lose” money for good. They profited off her death. I wonder did he share the 90 million with her mother, father, and brother. I say this because when I was in high school I think 2011 I got ahold of a book called "Aaliyah : More Than A Woman and in this book it said that she always had a family member with her on every shoot.
Too this day something about her death never added up with me. I can remember watching his interview on Dr. Oz and he mention that Aaliyah's mother doesn't speak to him.

Established famous artists of all mediums (Singing, Music, Art, Dance, etc.) are worth more dead than alive in most cases. Quite a few don't even get their flowers or any real recognition until after they have passed. It's not that far fetched for me to consider a set-up by whomever would benefit financially. Her uncle's actions over the years don't come across as some sort of respect on her legacy, or genuine grief at all. Except for movie soundtracks, he kept her albums unavailable for most streaming platforms. When the settlement came, I could see him saying f' it, I'm out. He might have some money mgmt issues to address if he blew thru most of that $90mil already, he must be a spending beast!
The last sentence of the filed lawsuit, GTFOHWTBS! They fumbled the ball SO MANY TIMES over the course of her entire career! They playin’ in our faces with THAT one….smh. This woman had hits yet never really performed in places that Brandy did when they were out at the same time. Then looking at someone like Rihanna (who i love) when she first came out she was performing all over unlike Aaliyah who got the short end of the stick as far as being promoted as an artist.
