This is USEFUL! So so so many music youtuber’s assume that people know some basic stuff... but where will they learn that? Explaining the basics like audio interface and which cables they need is gold. Really wish I had this when I started two years ago, but I’m just glad it exists for beginners! Definitely gonna send this to people when they need to know what to get
Lachlan, thanks so much for sharing with others, man. It really helps my channel!
Agreed! I am okay with music theory from high school, but in terms of what equipment I needed to add to my computer in order to make music, this video helped so much! At first, I thought that it would cost so much money to start, but it didn't really. Thanks, Sanjay!
@@SanjayC so you have both the Scarlett interface & the Minilab Mk2 connected via usb directly to the laptop?
This video is so well made that anybody afraid of music production will probably feel much more confident. Well done
This is video is most wanted , everyone should watch this video before setting up a studio 💓💓
Thanks so much. Yes, I wish I had this video when I started out! LOL
@@SanjayC And now you helped 165K people after you suceed on CZcams!

This was perfect timing. Setting up music and video workstations for my sons 14 & 12. You have blessed us so much with all your helpful videos! Thank you!!!
Wow...love that you're helping them setup workstations. They are lucky to have you. Keep doing what you do. Much respect.
Your videos are "top-shelf" ... so practical, concise, and well produced ... so much appreciate your sharing with us!!
I appreciate that!
Getting an audio interface for my birthday on the 19th, so glad you made this video! After seeing your interface video, i chose the Focusrite as I am on a budget.
Good choice. Focusrite interfaces are great!
I was on the verge of selling all the equipment I bought to pursue music-making. Your video answered so many of my questions in a concise but complete way, and my mind is changed. Thank you!
dude I was feeling sooooo sad and stupid and discouraged. then after watching your video I feel so happy. What you said answered SO MANY questions that no one else was talking about or making clear. THANK YOU SOOOOOOO MUCH!!! I can make music now.
So happy to hear that! Have fun and good luck with your music!
This is great Sanjay!! I wish I had seen something like this when I first started. You hit all the important concepts someone needs to know to get started 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Hey Tim! Thanks so much bro.
Sanjay C, the best teacher that I never met.
Thank you Kazv0 Official!
Dude! I love your vids. People forget sometimes. You show them how absolutely simple everything really is. This is something that every artistic individual should explore.
Just found your channel and immediately subscribed. You provide soooo much valuable information for home recording etc, and equipment reviews. Thank you Sanjay! In the sea of information videos, You're a keeper!
Sanjay's voice has become my relax music
Great video so informative
Thank you Akash!

Your videos are so great that people who know everything about these will also want to watch the video 😂❤️
Glad you think so!
A female here, new to music production! This is the video that I was waiting from you for so long! Thank you for this, I was super intimidated by everything but now I understand the tech side of it 💗🙌
🎉Yaaaasss!!!! Female producer Power! 🤩
@@Only1Dharti you are so active in sanjay's comment section 🤣🤣
Hi Skanda! I'm so glad my video helped you out. We need to showcase more female producers on CZcams. When you've recorded something you love, share it on Instagram and tag me and #SanjayCNews. I'll be happy to take a listen and maybe share it on my News Report series.

@@SanjayC thank youuu! Of course I'll definitely tag you once I start everything! Just 18 years now, about to buy my little studio, thanks to you. Much love to you and Dharti! 🙌😄💗
Man I've been waiting for this video for so long and u know why?❤❤
What did you want to learn from this video?
I got my studio set already but have always wondered how to do it myself....Moreover this is a topic in which many quality videos arent made....glad u did.
Thanks, Akash
This video deserves a million views! Priceless! Great work Sanjay C. Thank you for your neat, clean and well thought out plan to set up a home studio.
Thanks a ton
Very very useful . THANKS SO MUCH FOR starting from the basics
I feel like this is one of those videos of yours which is sure to get 1 million views😃 Great information as always.
Wow, thanks!
My first studio is set up all thanks to you!
That's very kind!
What an excellent channel Sanjay! I'm getting back into music and audio after a long break and love you clear no nonsense style with great detail!
I was lost in the recording world, This video saved me so much time figuring out everything.
Thank you Sanjay!
ill reccomend this to my friend as he has the gear but dosent have the right cables thank you
Thanks, Siddharth!
Hey Sanjay,
The Focusrite interface has two outputs at the back (L and R) for monitors. But what if you have monitors that only have 1 output? Like a 3.5mm cable. Do you connect it on the front like you did with the headphones on this video, would that produce the same sound quality?
It will work, but sound quality will be sacrificed.
Awesome! One of the best CZcamsrs around! Excellent info and explanations.
Just discovered this channel and getting started with Music production. This is so helpful. Thanks for that.
This is still the best music channel I know......I still learn new things👽❤🇸🇿🔥🔥
Thank you Sea Wxxd Beats!
AGAIN searching something about this in the past week and Sanjay back at it again
Gotta bring it for my fam!
I think your discussion on setting up a home studio was awesome.
As a beginner it was very informative.
This is so generous of you Sanjay❤️ thank you! X
I'm a dinosaur from the early days of midi, getting back into home recording...wow, have things changed. I found this video to be amazingly helpful. My question is in regards to audio. If you have multiple audio producing devices, does your audio interface need numerous inputs? Or, should you run separate audio outs into a mixer and send the outs of the mixer to the audio interface??
Hi Nancy. You can do it both ways. Using a mixer may be more cost-effective since multiple input mixers are typically cheaper than multi-input audio interfaces. If you really want to go the audio interface route the Audiofuse 8Pre by Arturia is a good choice and isn't crazy expensive
Oh boy, it's a dinosaur revival lol. Glad I'm not the only pre-millennial looking to return to music.. but I was teaching music before Midi but the standards. Thank you for all the info on setting up but you missed out one major piece of equipment - the actual desk itself. Is it a custom build or are there actually units out there with an extended pull-out shelf?
@@bardolffumbleclot8590 I rarely see a pull out for a keyboard any longer. Perhaps its a DIY thing.
This is literally the Video I wished I had 1 Year ago haha❤️⚡️
Thanks so much. Please share with other beginners out there.
Super informative and great delivery bro! AWESOME!
Literally the CLEANEST studio setup video I've ever seen. Thank you so much
This will be real best one before we build a studio full of cables😍

I've learned a lot from your videos. You are now like a mentor. I'm setting up my home studio, only missing a midi controller which I already ordered. Can't wait!

@@SanjayC My ROI for courses is high sanjay. I have grown from 100 to 250$ per month, which as you know is half the monthly salary in India. So I'm doubling down and building my courses in udemy and skillshare.
Wow! Dude, you're killing it! In time, this can be a full-time job for you! I'm so happy to hear you are successful. Do you need some help getting the word out to more people? Email me at sanjay@sanjayc.com. Maybe I can say something in my upcoming news report.
@@SanjayC not yet sanjay. Till now I have been creating small 1 hour courses which has helped me a lot. But now I'm now working on making comprehensive guide - 75 hour course on music production. I have filmed about 35 percent of the course. When I finish the rest I will definitely email you sanjay.
I'm making this 75 hour course which includes learning the ins and outs of ableton, going over every plugin and every effect, making their first beat in ableton, drum programming for (pop, hiphop, trap, trance, funk, rock) -each includes 15 individual rythms, introduction to sound design, what is reverb and types of reverb and how to emulate them,compression-types and functions indepth, mixing, mastering, and some extras like podcast editing, sound design for video.
Till now all the courses I published are 1 hour and 30 mins courses on small topics related to music production. I offered them for free for one month and got 2000 emails from people who enrolled after that I published two more courses and made them paid.
Now I'm making this giant course to make it paid and drop small free courses continuously along the way to collect emails to redirect them to the giant course
So once I finish this mega music production 101 course I will defined contact you sanjay. Nothing I have done would be possible without your channel feeding me inspiration every week.
Thank you so much. Much love brother.
You said you listed everything in the video but I don’t see the red paint for the room... LIARRRRRR

Hi Sanjay. I was so happy yo see you using a Juno 106, my very first synth back in the 80's. It along with other keyboards has been sitting dormant for decades. I have been trying to learn how to start using it today with the new technology available. Thanks for providing the answers to help me get started!

I just wanna say a big fat thank you bc like someone else commented, I’m a complete beginner & I don’t even know what half this stuff means, what I need or how to use them.
You did this ~a year ago, and between April and September 21, I have watched it umpteenth times... I find "revelations" every single time...
Could you please update this and give us a fresh one. I can assure you that there are several prehistoric men and women who would watch this and benefit.. immeasurably.

This is more than what i needed. So neat, straightforward and well explained. Thank you very much❤
Dude, you're the best, just awesome. Im stuck midway with equipment i need to set up, and i believe i am missing components. Now its clarified that its the interface (peferably a bundle pack) Daw, memory and cables. Need new monitors as well. I will mos def complete my studio from your videos.
Thanks a whole lot buddy.
This is the most no nonsense video for beginners, awesome!!
Glad it was helpful!
I can only repeat what others have said. This is so good as instead of going straight into Ableton, We learn here about the connections and settings. It took me a couple of weeks to get my audio, guitar, Scarlet and midi controller to work together. Wish I had seen this earlier.
Bro, I'm starting my little home studio and your videos are lifesavers! Thanks a lot!

Thanks so much Aarush
thanks very much for your sharing information with Chinese subtitles! Now I am going to set up my home studio!
As always another fantastic, informative video Sanjay! Thank you for taking the time to break it all down. Most of this I've figured out but I always enjoy your honest unbiased comments. One thing I would love to see since you have a true knack for teaching/instructing is a mini series of making a song from start to finish. Using the basics, for example, create a cover of a popular song, where to start, step by step laying down the tracks, adjusting the sounds, adding vocals, mixing the vocals, backing vocals to sound similar to the original song, etc. I haven't see anyone do something like this and it would be helpful for me along with probably many other people. Maybe like a 101 Boot Camp. Preferably in Logic Pro : )
Thank you Rentonbroadway! I've got some great ideas for song breakdowns. Hope to get to it soon. But I still need to learn Logic better. So I may do them in Ableton. But I'll try to make them work for any DAW
@@SanjayC Thank you, I appreciate it. I am sure I can google my way through Logic Pro. You do a great job giving lots of different terms that things are known for so it makes it very easy to adapt.
