It's a joke unintentionally, because he is a sad drunk washed up piece of crap
Trust me we know it's not a joke.. nothing was funny 😂😂😂
this crowd has to be the most aloof audience ever. it’s like they don’t know the right time to clap or time to be quiet.
love your videos!
They think punchlines are coming. He's not telling a joke. He's furiously angry and upset.
I think they were perhaps not aloof, but rather intrinsically engaged. The 'set' he's putting in front of them, it's not really a traditional funny stories and jokes with punchlines. It's not a comedy set that you can sit easily through, laugh, don't, misplace a laugh, it's relaxed and doesn't matter.
Instead, he's covering some serious, personal, emotive and quite a shade darker issues, some of which he's clearly unhappy about.
And at the same time he's being funny in places, as that's the way he is, naturally.
But because of this deeper level of importance, the content and relevance, for Chapelle at least, of the themes, the crowd isn't simply just amused, and able to simply laugh at each punctuating wrap-up. They are listening seriously but still enjoying the way he tells his story, but they're thinking, and aware there's more to regard here than simply how tickled each line makes them feel.
Hence, as they're genuinely engaged with him, that relationship is different to the easy, routine laughter of a pure comedy performance.
That's my reason for thinking they may not be aloof, but actually really are not sure where to laugh, because they are really listening, and it's not all just 'funny.'
Exactly!!! "They said I smoke crack. Impossible. I'm a devout Muslim. I don't smoke or drink, but I do now CAUSE YOU RUINED MY LIFE"
*Crowd laughs and claps.*
No. That's sad! Listen to him!.
I thought you exaggerating at first, but after getting to the middle and towards the end where he started getting real deep about his experience…yeah.
That crowd was dumb as rocks
I'd pay good money for a show like this. This ain't comedy but this is real life.

Dave was doing a similar q&a after his shiw when he returned to montreal around 2013 or so. The show was t that good good because guys just kept I terrupting him with Chappelle show remarks.

My parents watched a lot of stand-up when I was a kid but I never bothered watching most comedians. Recently though, I’ve been getting into it a lot, and I absolutely love the way he just talks. He tells really funny, sometimes offensive jokes, but he also has such a chill demeanor and the way he talks is so pleasing to just listen to. I could listen to him talk about life and make jokes for hours on end.
The build up is just ruthless and perfect at the same time. He is a master at his craft. The parallel stories are just prolific. The way he drags you in a dang funny story with a serious note and a important life lesson combined in one. That’s why he’s the GOAT of stand-up comedy.
If not for Dave Chappelle, I would've crossed many thresholds that I would very much regret today. I can honestly say he has not only made my life infinitely more enjoyable, but he has saved my life. That's because of all the celebrities and famous people out there Dave Chappelle is one of the few who's fans are not just fans but heavy supporters. "Or, I could just take it"
This was brilliant storytelling. He narrated two real life stories that happened in his youth and perfectly correlated them with what was happening to him right now, structured it as a joke with the punchline being the life lessons he learnt in his youth. You can see for the whole time where he was going with the story, but you don't see the punchline coming. Reminds me of his "so I kicked her in the pussy " joke. Dude's amazing.
Absolutely amazing
@Mass Debater A lot of humor is based on truth. Chappelle's jokes aren't your typical standup jokes. He narrates meaningful stories but structures them in such a way as to include in a punchline in the end. If Chappelle's stories are fairy tales, the moral of the story would be the punchline. You take them seriously and not view them as jokes, but it's still really clever and quite funny when you hear them for the second or third time because this time you notice the subtle details and the mechanism of the plot. I think Chappelle still has a long way to go and I feel like his best material is still yet to come.

"They hate the monster for how it fucks. But I hate that monster for how it eats."
Chappelle is the moment where Keanu Reeves can look through reality and see The Matrix
Chappelle is Morpheus.
@@HardwiredZ06 He DOES explain a lot of real shit to a lot of clueless white dudes
fucking shivers on that part..
I disagree. Both hate the industry for how it devours ones spirit.
When you blend talent and capitalism, the result it’s often disastrous for the one with talent. Whether it’s acting, music or beauty.
Dave is the greatest celeb from the Dayton Ohio area. He put a show on after the mass shooting and never sought publicity for it.He called up friends and made it a really big lineup (not that he couldn't carry it alone but he broadened the appeal) He donated the money to the victims & their survivors. It is those type of acts that show the heart of the man. He will forever have my admiration for his actions
i always disagreed with colbert and conan'obrien. Shocking how far colbert fell... he fell deeeeep. conan its like one day he woke up high on prozac changed his hair and became a bitch. so fell deep but not as deep as colbert. Chapell never changed. Hes a black Norm MacDonald. Legendary and will live forever.
@@timetraveler1973 he's black?
@@timetraveler1973 fr tho. I liked Conan and Colberts older shit, now they've become a shell of their former selves. RIP Norm MacDonald
Hes a different kind of person the last trye male role model its insane to see him go from half baked to where he is now hes untouchable media outlets the world over thought thwyed shame him out of a career and completely missed ... im glad theres enough sanity left ib the world to recognize his validity
Respect Dave!
Best of the Best!!! Love and respect. Thank you Dave for making me laugh so hard and forgetting my problems xo
some of the most powerful shit i’ve seen. Funniest dude to ever walk the earth dropping some shit like this.
This mans story telling is fucking legendary almost like listening to an older family member
@Ramadhan Bayuaji Isn't that decision up to his kids?
@Ramadhan Bayuaji He is a dad.
Hes family to all comedy.
This man's STORY is fucking legendary!
It would hurt so much to tell people to boycott your own show - I feel you, Dave. We're rooting for you.
Dave is a true, down to earth man. God bless you my brother.
Dave Chappelle is so much more than a comedian.
No matter what he chooses to talk about, the masses will listen... Powerful dude...
Listening but not hearing.
“Why doesn’t a slave run to another plantation to see if that owner is nicer” that’s some real shit
@Jack Stucki wym
Welcome to capitalism.
@Jack Stucki So he could be sued? It’s not like any of us need to know.
You’re right... the whole thing was shit
@@TheLivirus bruh
Hard lesson to take, very useful to give!
Thanks Dave!!
The crowd really p’d me off in this video, thanks for the amazing video.
Dave is a great story teller. Even though this wasn’t funny, and I didn’t laugh once, I was entranced by the way he told it.
is a good story
@@coffeewoffee Yes, that what a story means.
@@coffeewoffee It doesn't necessarily have to contain unicorns and wizards to be called a story.
C'mon you didn't laugh at "My wife's Asian too bitch, but she's Philippino so our kids are Puerto Rican for some reason"?
He isn't telling jokes
“They hate that monster for how it fucks, I hate the monster for how it eats. It’s the same monster.”
He was telling us something.
no shit
meaning they eat other peoples food, that's what parasites do.
“You should know whats in the hotdogs you eat”
I wonder what it was
He was saying they take what they want how they want and have no regard for the person they are taking it from because they know that person needs them.
My wife and I love your work Dave, we live close to your old stomping grounds in Ohio, met ya a few times. You’re a great guy, hard working, super funny and you didn’t deserve any of that Sir. ✊🏾 much respect, much love…..we will definitely do our part. Thank you for what you do and who you are as a person. Keep your head up, you got this 🙌🏾
Dave isn't here. How are you your age & don't know how the internet works? Lol Come on mate
ONE OF GREATEST COMEDIANS TO EVER LIVE!!!…He is the Forrest Gump of comedy whatever he touches turns to gold❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ I admire him so much extremely intelligent and he is never afraid to address controversial issues and his own life and there’s always life‘s wisdom woven into his comedy he is my all-time favorite comedian my number one🏆
That cigarette lasted a long time, even that wanted stick around to listen.
He smokes American Spirits, and those things take forever to go all the way out if you're not constantly puffing on it. In fact if you hold it in your hand like Dave is doing without hitting it, it will go out on its own. American spirits been like that forever. Slow burn.

It's a stage prop. Do some research and you'll understand the psychology of it.
@@rtj7836 it's a real ciggarette though...
This is a GREAT monologue. Big ups for exposing them consistently
one day people will audition with this
Oh please, he didn’t expose anything…
The beast is much more mysterious and complex. Also Dave is part of the club so to speak. He’s not gonna tell all, he’s under oath.
@@stevenl1706 under oath!! LMAO
@@stevenl1706 give us a fuckng break, conspirator. This man is dropping real knowledge he has experienced in his life, while you're over here bout to give us the low down on the illuminati like you didn't get all your "evidence" from shitty conspiracy forums and CZcams channels.
All he can do is monologue (ramble) because he’s not an ounce of funny anymore. Standup is in such a bad spot right now because of “”””comedians”””” like this being called great.
Gah damn it is truly a privilege to listen to one of the g.o.a.t. Chapelle you are an American treasure and we thank you so much for all the laughs and all the wisdom you have bestowed. They tried to cancel u but u ain't going nowhere u ain't going nowhere u can't be stopped now cuz u a real G for life
Saw Dave here in New Zealand 🇳🇿 it was his first time here and my first time seeing the Goat live it was amazing I’ll never forget it so happy I got to see my favourite comedian live in my home country long live the king of stand up (CHAPPELLE) 👑
He is seriously at the point of philosophy now. While I always looked at him as a philosopher that told jokes. I just enjoy hearing his stories. He doesn't need to tell jokes. He has so many lessons to teach. And so much wisdom to pass down. I have so much respect for him.
He has a flavor of Diogenes
@@NateB Not quite choking the chicken in public or living in a barrel though. Iirc Diogenes' philosophy is characterized particularly by anti-materialism. Dave's a bit more of an up-lifer. ("Fuckin hate[s] being poor")
like george carlin did
I've often said great comedians are our last great philosophers. Carlin did it, Rock did it, and now it's all on Dave.
He's like the new George Carlin almost.
I never knew. I have so much respect for Dave now. He's a man of principle. It's at the point where I think humanity NEEDS this man.
He's doing what Prince did. He's fighting for the rights of all working people.
It saddens me that most people think this is a comedy set.
I agree Frank.))
Mr Franks' comment should have hundreds more likes than 100. If people learned how to be, for example, a principled voter (by recognizing principles in the things candidates running for political office say) then we would have better leaders. But most people want to vote on personality or for the system that a candidate seems to be purchased by. It's sad.
You can totally see that Dave is teaching us principles here and they're memorable because they are taught through the story/pure testimony of his life.
@@joycemitchell I agree)
Please stop idolizing him. I love his comedy, too. He doesn't care about any of you. Him complaining about being offered millions, while also claiming he felt like a slave, is beyond asinine. It's comparable to 22 year old pro athletes, with little actual life experience, complaining about their multimillion dollar contracts. When will the average person see thru the facade?
We love you Dave. Thank you for telling the truth and getting it out there for everyone to hear.
Thank you for sharing! You're the GOAT Dave! This happened to me today, someone tried to take my bread, I'm trying to channel my late father so he can take over and help me next time I have to face something like that, it's hard, even as man ❤
Throughout the years he's slowly turned from a comedian to a psychologist...Im cool with both daves👍
What a back handed comment
He’s always been the same person. One person.
Philosopher.
@Boomer not really
I could listen to Chapelle for hours telling stories.
You find that on here . There is a great video of him on CZcams of him just showing up at a very small club in La right before he made his comeback. It’s literally almost 3 hours long and after his “ routine “ he’s just like … talking to the audience and asking them questions and telling them stories . I’ll see if I can find the link . It’s great . I worship him.
@@usernameonutube he has on Comedy Central
Almost like he's at the top of his field, which is basically telling stories. What a shocker.
