Set in a world where toys have a life of their own when people are not present, Toy Story takes moviegoers on a fantastic fun-filled journey, viewed mostly through the eyes of two rival toys - Woody (Tom Hanks), a pull-string talking cowboy, and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), a superhero space action-figure. The comically-mismatched duo eventually learn to put aside their differences when circumstances separate them from their owner, Andy, and they find themselves on a hilarious adventure-filled mission where the only way they can survive is to form an uneasy alliance.

Fun fact: Billy Crystal was approached to play Buzz. He turned the role down because he felt it wouldn't be successful.
To this day, he still regrets that decision. XD
So Tim Allen got the role as Buzz Lightyear.
Later, when he was asked to star in Monster's Inc as Mike Wazowski, Billy made sure to not refuse the offer.

@@limjahey5528 IMO it's not CGI itself that "ruined movies " , but most of the studios that care more about making $$$ rather than making quality movies. The amount of movies that made more than a billion dollars at the box office (or near that), but have no cultural impacts raised significantly the last 10 years (don't worry folks I am not talking about endgame). The pbm is that, unlike in the mid 90s/2000s , most of the time, CGI isn't used has a tool anymore , but more as the main component to make a movie. This generates a lot of “ okay “, “mediocre “ to “ bad” movies. A large part of the public continues to support such movies , which makes a lot of $$$, so studios are ok with that and they just continue to make these kind of movies.

Don Rickles is the voice of Mr. Potato Head. You might not recognize him because he is one of the legendary greats from the last generation of actors. I'm talking, the black and white films and the old TV sitcoms that he would guest appear on that many of us nowadays in this generation might not really pick up to watch.
His first movie was Run Silent, Run Deep in 1958.
Then he appeared on Johnny Carson, The Addams Family, and The Dick Van Dyke show.
He got a role as one of the characters starring alongside Clint Eastwood in Kelly's Heroes and as the 70s progressed, he even had his own show called the Don Rickles show. He was a stand up comedian while also picking up the occasional acting jobs to make ends meet.
He was great friends with Don Adams, Bob Newhart, and Frank Sinatra.
If you continue watching the Toy Story films, tragically, he passed away in 2017, after Toy Story 3 had premiered. In the next movie, Mr. Potato Head only has a few lines in Toy Story 4 which was unused recordings reused lines that Don Rickles recorded in the first three films for the character. He will always, to kids, be the voice of one of their favorite toys. To Hollywood, his passing will be remembered as he was one of the greats.

When this movie wounded up as a success, they allowed Pixar to include Barbie in the sequels.

1: when i was a kid, i had a pc game of army men. and the plastic toy soldiers were, imo, from that game. so i had fun with it.
2: the troops parachuting scene was made by taking the troops without deployed chutes and quickly hiding them out of view, replacing them with models with deployed chutes. the technology didnt allow the on-screen pack-to-parachute animation. so they used that clever camera play to do it. if you watch, there is a moment when neither are on screen as the camera pans over the ledge to see the new models.
