When hard times hit Swallow Falls, its townspeople can only afford to eat sardines. Flint Lockwood, a failed inventor, thinks he has the answer to the town's crisis. The monkey translator at the end is one of the most heartfelt moments in animation.
Not just because we get to hear his father speaking eloquently, but because at the end, he consciously told Flint he loved him, not metaphors needed!
This movie knew what it wanted to be: A wacky, nonsensical adventure that had a nice message of be yourself, don't hide yourself or change yourself for others, and keep trying to improve and learn from and fix your mistakes rather than giving up.
I think you’d definitely have a lot of fun with the sequel if you decide to do it. They really intensify the foodie world. Great reaction as always!

I read the book when I was a kid as well, but I was less than enthused by the fact that the premise was completely different except for the food weather. I was so glad that I was pleasantly surprised by the film though and actually enjoy it.

I will never STOP telling people to watch "Mitchells vs Machines". The best animated film of the year when it came out, IMO. I've watched it so many times because I see new things every time.
That should be watched WAY before "Into the Spiderverse". Just sayin'.
If you’re more interested in movies by Sony, would highly recommend Surfs Up, it is a fantastic movie with a really unique premise!

Not only do they make the T shape in the tortilla chip Earl crashes through, but his haircut is the exact opposite of Mr. T; all the hair is on his head except for the T right in the middle. Also I’ve heard they actually offered NPH the lead role, but he thought it would be more challenging to play Steve

The funniest part was 27:45 when you went on to suggest that little kids care about getting "a great job that makes you a lot of money", lol! When I was a little kid I cared about chocolate milk, cookies, what tree I was going to climb and girls. By teenage years it was mostly the first and last of those.
Give the movie "Surf's Up" a try. It's done in a very unique way and is also by Sony animation. Pretty good cast too.

this is based off of one of my favorite books when I was a kid (by the same name) and when I first heard about it, I was kind of annoyed that the premise is almost nothing like the book. I gave the movie a chance anyway and I'm glad that I did because I genuinely enjoy this movie and some of the themes, like being proud of who you are despite what others think. great reaction, as always. ❤️

To me the first one is better, but the second one is pretty cute and had a cool concept as far as expanding the thing they can do with food. Also, Steve! Hope you watch it. Sony use to have a couple bangers I liked too unfortunately I never saw them continue production which they should. Only thing Sony I recall recently is the hotel Transylvania series. At least I think that's Sony.

Sony animation has had a loooot of misses when it comes to their movies, but every once in a while they bring out a great one, like Spider-Man: Into the spiderverse and Hotel Transylvania. Recently they also released The Mitchells vs the Machines. That movie is amazing and spoke to me personally a lot. It has to be up there in my top 10 personal favourites.
If they keep going like this, they might become bigger and bigger.
