I think it was the actors reaction not the paper itself. The actor reacted out of character.

But my jaw was wide open during the entire scene if they had kept that paper scene it would have broken the jaw-dropping shock of the viewers to a little laugh there as it would add a comedic aspect there so I think they did the right thing removing the scene and keeping it horrifying
Yeah if the actos stay character for a little bit longer, they scene could have keep in, because not like the paper would slap his face next time if they want it to happen 😂

that would've ruined the whole tone of the scene. yea it would've been funny, but it just wouldn't really fit in the context of what some could consider genocide. I was shocked when homelander did nothing to save all those people, and if they included that scene, the emotional impact would've been much weaker.

Seeing Anthony Starr not being Homelander is so weird to me. He's that good in the role. Also, Lem from Better Off Ted making a cameo in the series made my day that day.

Not a cameo, Malcolm Barrett has several scenes as one of the marketing guys.
He's also in Preacher, another show based on a Garth Ennis book (although admittedly nowhere near as good as this one).
