Original #DireStraits video: âą Dire Straits - Walk Of... - Hudba
This was my Dad's favorite song by his favorite band. I remember him tapping his feet to the tune and just getting really happy anytime it came on. This song holds a special place in my heart because of that. Thanks for reacting to it!
For kids of a certain age, this has to be the most Dad song of all time. I mean this in the most positive way.
This was one of my granny's favorite songs...she jumped on the rock and roll bandwagon really early, much to my grandpa's horror. I remember my grandpa had recently died about this time and this was one of the songs that brought her out of her (justifiable) depression at that point.
Walk of Life and Call Me Al where my dadâs favorite videos when I was a kid, hearing either song always cheers me up
â€
Your Dad has (had? condolences if so) excellent taste. Dire Straits is widely recognized for Mark Knopfler's top tier guitar playing and their drumming/rhythm section and rightly so . But give some love for the trebly (Farfisia?) organ and the more subtle lower opening riff (Hammond organ?) that lays down the firm foundation. =//=OldDudesStillRock
Telegraph Road and. Romeo & juliet are both masterpieces. Way more than just pop or rock, poetry and history and anguish and love with great melodies and playing of course.
Alchemy Live đ
Dire Strait's Romeo and Juliet is another song that draw's you in.
Dire Straits is such a great band. Sultans of Swing live is a masterpiece.
Live at The Alchemy probably the best live performance of i have ever seen definitely
needs to be seen by you and anyone else as a matter of fact
Just a happy feel to this tune, love it. I'd pick 'Money For Nothing' next myself as the next Dire Straits tune. Cheers.
Yes I would agree, probably their most famous hit.
With Sting on backing vocals
they already did money for nothing
Yes. Great brutal death metal song with satanic lyrics.
For me, watching the sports clips and listening to the verses, it was just persevering through all our little bumps and falls we go through our life but through dedication and work, we find a way to succeed and get by. In the end, it's just the walk through life that we all deal with. There are a lot of great Dire Straits songs to listen to though. Some have been mentioned but I like "Lady Writer" "Ride Across the River" "Why Worry" "Your Latest Trick"(live version) "Industrial Disease" and "Down to the Waterline"
"Single-handed Sailor' has always been a favourite, "Wild West End," "Communique," "On Every Street," "My Parties", etc.
Romeo and Juliet!!
Not just with Dire Straits, Mark Knoffler played on Jimmy Nails "Big River" & also you should also hear him do the Last Post for Soldiers.
Great old 70s Band. Guitarist and lead singer Marc Knopfler is one of the most accomplished around.
Definitely an 80s band. More albums, more hits, more tours and all their awards were in the 80s.
I used this CD to show off my stereo system to everyone. Recorded completely digitally, which at the time for a Pop/Rock album was rare, it's still one of the best recordings I've ever heard. The entire album is a classic, with a wide range of sounds and themes. It's hard to explain, but hearing the sound quality of this disc in 1985 was truly breathtaking.
Brothers in Arms was a really great album. I remember being blown away at how crisp and clear that recording was. I used to fall asleep to it in my giant 1970's style headphones and wake up with my ears on fire.
@@jasonfirewalker3595 Understandable! Now considering I am a real fan of vinyl, and I prefer the warmer, more natural sound of vinyl, I can always appreciate a truly amazing digital recording. I too wore out my headphones, not only on Brothers in Arms, but also on Donald Fagen's 'The Nightfly'.
A "DDD" CD. I remember when those were rare. đ
@@bakauf4300 Yup! Back then they were rare indeed. Digitally recorded, Digitally mixed, Digitally mastered..đ
There was a time when more CDs of this album were sold than actual CD players in the UK
This is a top 5 band.
The live version of Telegraph Road is one of the best performances ever. Amazing changes in tempo and incredible transitions.
â it out
Studio version is far superior in my opinion. Dire Straits' greatest moment.
Agreed, but there are at least 25-30 top 5 bands whenever you really start counting. ;)
Dire Straights was kind of the definition of a blue collar working band. They were truly a working class English band dedicated mainly to the club circuit and small venues throughout much of their career. They didnât hit it big until fairly late in their existence, and then they blew up meteorically, reaching heights of some of the biggest acts in U.K. music history. But they didnât seem to let their meteoric fame go to their heads which is what I really admired about them.
Always liked dire straits. Mark Knofler is a great guitarist.
Also liked his work with the Notting Hillbillies and Chet Atkins
I saw him live about 18-20 years ago. He was a god, but I mostly remember how everyone in the audience got sad because he never played Local Hero
@@pianoekket Isaw him supporting Bob Dylan a few years back. Fantastic.
I like his solo stuff, too. And David's, as it happens.
You did this, Brothers In Arms, Money for Nothing and Sultans of Swing which were massive hits. Other songs in the top 40: Romeo And Juliet, Skateaway, Private Investigations, Twisting By The Pool, So Far Away, Your Latest Trick, Calling Elvis, Lady Writer, Industrial Disease.
So yes, there's a lot more. Common people, give Lex what she wants.
What I got is that in the walk of life you'll have many mishaps and failures but if you keep walking you'll find your way eventually.
This is Dire Straits in up-tempo mood. It almost reminds me of an updated version of The Lovin' Spoonful from the 60s.
One of my all time favourite songsâŠno matter how down you may feel this could always pick you up!
Love love love Dire Straits! Yes,do more please!
This has always been such a âfeel goodâ song for me and all of the old sports bloopers make me giggle every time đ
Another video thatâs fun to watch is Paul Simonâs Me and Julio Down By The Schoolyard. It has several stars in it including Big Daddy Kane, Biz Markie, John Madden & Mickie Mantle. I hope you guys will check it out sometime.
Greats songs by Dire Straits:Money For Nothing,Lady Writer,Private Investigations,Calling Elvis,Heavy Fuel,Tunnel Of Love,Romeo & Juliete.
Brad & Lex, you'll love their "So Far Away" and "Romeo And Juliet"!!! This definitely fit the fun song live stream. The song is used in a drug commercial for Farxiga.
Love Romeo And Juliet
Tunnel of love,
On every street,
Private investigations,
Why aye man
Money for nothing
Once Upon a Time in the West is also very underrated. Never appreciated it properly until it kicked off the Alchemy show.
"Sailing to Philadelphia" is a great little song, full of spirit and hope, and if you catch "evening with Mark Knopfler" version, you'll get a bit of a feel for his personality, and how he just became even better as a musician as he aged.
Pretty sure this music video activated humanity's love for fail compilations.
Mark Knopfler made a a record with Emmy Lou Harris in 2006 entitled All the Roadrunning that is very good. Must listens from that record: Love and Happiness and All the Roadrunning. Both songs showcase these artist's voices perfectly and how well they are together. I will NEVER forget when Dire Straits stormed onto the scene in 1977, the voice and his guitar was so different than anything out there at the time....the sound was an instant addiction! Thank you DS for the 6 studio albums you left us. Great reaction guys, TY.
Brings back my best memories! My little girl and I dancing all over the house, doing our thing.... Thank you for that.
Love the rockabilly sound to this song... One of my favorite DS songs!
I saw Dire Straits in Darwin Australia back in the late 1980's out door in the middle of a tropical down pour and they just kept playing, amazing band live.
just such a happy song!
Love this song. Always puts a smile on my face.
I was recently listening to this song for memory sake. About 2/3 in I started crying my heart because this is one of hundreds of songs that my mom and my grandfather would play on their radios for me when I was a kid. This song is so beautiful that it will put you in such a good mood, make you want to dance, and if youâre as soft as I am it will send you to tears. Time flies by so fast
Been a huge Dire Straits fan all my life, so happy you are diving into some more of their catalogue. Maybe check out Romeo and Juliet, Down to the Waterline or So far Away
One of my favorite videos ever! Simply, it is about the ups and downs of this life we all live.
There's a U.K. version of the video
czcams.com/video/2df-bWdsjvU/video.html
Such an infectious song, and a great video to boot
Great band. Mark Knopfler, the singer, is also one of the best guitarists around and a fantastic songwriter.
Love you guys!â€ïž
I'm 43, and my old guitar instructor said the one guitarist that he couldn't duplicate or sound anything like was Mark..
They were a great band
My parents always played this when I was a kid, esp at our summer pool parties, brings back memories
Ooo how this brings back memories this is one of the 1st songs played on MTV when not only when MTV 1st started and back when MTV actually just played music
This video really puts a smile on my face. The sports footage is so great! đ
Lex you are smart and amazing it was used in a commercial just donât remember which one keep it up guys. Your awesome to Brad. Love you guys. God Bless
Love the sports bloopers....always thought Knopfler looked so cute here, great feel good song!
I always have to watch this twice. Once because I'm laughing at the video, and a second time to enjoy the epic song đđ„°
Please promise me this: I know you've already reacted to Sultans of Swing, but I'd love for you to listen to the Alchemy live version of the song, if not as a reaction for this channel, at least as an experience you can enjoy on your own. You two are gems.
đŻ agreee!! Live Alchemy version is fantastic!!
100% agree! Alchemy Live Sultans might be my all time favorite song ever, all artists all genres. Quintessential Mark Knopfler on both the guitar and the vocals. So much better than the one in their original reaction which wasn't even the whole song. And for future reference, any reaction of a Dire Straits song that they played in that concert, that will be the prime version to react to. The entire concert is epic.
Ditto. It's a completely different song and the quintessential version.
I'm torn between the Alchemy version and Live On Every Street version... Both are great, I do really enjoy Paul Franklin's pedal steel solo in the On Every Street tour version though....đđđ
It'd be great but they don't like playing videos over 10min
Brad&Lex... Twisting by the pool from dire straits is a feel good song!!!
Thanks for your Reactions - luv your talks about the different types of music! I have been a lifelong fan of Dire Straits since I discovered them in high school sometime around 1980... Some of their best songs (aside from the ones you've seen), IMO, are 'Wild West End', 'Water of Love', 'Skateaway' and 'Romeo and Juliet'. Would luv a reaction from you on 'Wild West End'.... Thanks!!
Thanks for reaction! Telegraph Road, Tunnel of Love and Sultans of Swing (all from Live Alchemy tour) are well worth checking out
Yesss...more Dire Straits! Try "Romeo And Juliet" from them for a completely different, yet great vibe!!
You stumble around through life, sometimes the decisions you make are good sometimes not. Sometimes you succeed lots of times you fail. Lex got this one:)
Thanks a MILLION FOR POSTING IT'S ALWAYS NICE TO MAKE FOLK'S SMILE I KNOW YOU AGREE GOD BLESS YOU STAY WELL AND HEALTHY ENJOY LIFE
Another great British group đŹđ§
Awesome group! Great song!
I remember seeing Mark Knopfler from Dire Straits open up for Bob Dylan. I was there for Bob Dylan, didnt know much about Dire Straits but left that concert absolutely in love with them, almost remember their performance more than Dylans. Amazing show.
Always thought the video reflected that even the people who are the best at what they do sometimes fail, but they just keep on going.
Love this song. I've heard it on the radio all my life. I've never seen the video though.
I remember watching this video when it first came out. Great content.
Love this song!!đ
My favorite song by them...Thanks.
Mark is still making fantastic guitar music and fantastic story telling 40 + years on .
Mark Knopfler has had a very successful solo career. He is a guitar god. A personal favorite song is ''Why worry'', live. The tune is beautiful & the lyrics are as well.
It's entertaining to have people enjoy things I loved from my childhood
the walk of life, the journey of a lifetime with all the stumbles and trip-ups along the way, our local band used to play this at our local pub (Bar) 40 year ago, when this song came out, I was the bouncer whenever they played, and the things I saw when they played this đ€Łlocals trying to incorporate the trips and fumbles into their dance on the dance floor..đ đ đ đđ what a memory was 40 odd years later, still funny as
Just one of the best feel good songs from Dire Straits.
Someone below has suggested the live alchemy version of Telegraph Road. For me the best performance of the best rock song ever written. Mark Knopfler is an absolute genius. Thank you for your reaction. Best wishes from the UK.
Money for Nothing was their biggest hit and famously one of the best initial MTV videos
This is my favorite song of theirs. đđđđ
Hard to be in a bad mood while listening to this song.
Private Investigations, Money for Nothing, Romeo and Juliet, Telegraph Road are a few of my favorites from Dire Straits. Knopfler can play any type of music. His style is very easy to listen to. Peace!
So far away, by dire straits is another great one.
If you wanna hear more of Dire Straits, I got a few for ya.
Romeo & Juliet
So Far Away
Your Latest Trick
Calling Elvis
Local Hero (Guitar Instrumental but so much feeling it's insane) gotta do the live version tho.
Lady Writer
Heavy Fuel.
These are some that comes to mind, but they are much better live. "On The Night" is a gold mine of live songs
Local Hero live is AMAZING!
@@tammyford2357 Couldn't agree more. One of the most beautiful songs ever made
A lot of good songs. The entire Making Movies album is a masterpiece. In my opinion, they didn't make a bad album.
Magical song.
Love this song
just an incredible song
It was used in a Walgreens medicare commercial in 2020
Xfinity used an acoustic guitar and whistling version on a commercial
Great 1980's stadium music.
Money For Nothing, was a summer anthem when it came out. Cruising the beach boardwalk with it CRANKED on the stereo.
Dire Straits have always been a fun band to listen to- their sound is kind of all over the place, but they're never anything less than delightful
I was born to the Brothers In Arms album, literally.
Quite a few artists from the North-East of England had a good ol sportsfan American sound.
Dire strait was one of my favorite rock bands back in the eighties we had great music back in the eighties â€â€â€â€â€â€â€
Classic 80s hit, it was everywhere back in the day fab song check out âTelegraph Roadâ itâs a Dire Straits classic
Awesome band
Brilliant video
The song has been used in commercials and been used by quite a few sports teams over the years, before and during games. I think it's even been adopted by a few teams as their intro music as well.
Tunnel of Love. The solo is amazingâŠ..
That's how I always interpreted the video: we all stumble, bobble, fall down, or just have things go wrong...but in the end we all have our little victories to celebrate.
I also used to watch the sport bloopers shows on TV back then, so it was a fun and feelgood video.
So far away is probably my favorite.
They are my favorite band. I'm glad they exist(ed)
NICE!!!! This is one of my first cassette tapes. Dire Straits was the shit then. I was a little kid. But I am still loving music 35 years later.
Roller girl, and Twisting by the pool, are great choices
Damn I miss those days, back when sports were fun and there was love of the game rather than the love for the money.
Life is all ups and downs....just keep on walking on. Just go with it and 'Do the Walk of Life!'
This is such an MTV video. These guys were from England :))) but that was the trick. Great song and a replayable video in those days and you were golden
Life has it's ups and downs, walk of life, at the end they were celebrating after all the previous struggles.
Lots of great songs on that CD, Brothers In Arms.
Twisting by the pool is a fun one.
"get back up", Lex nails it again!
I love the way you Brad look at Lex when she speaks. I can tell you really want to hear what she's saying and you respect her opinion about things, (even if she's totally nuts) about some things. But she's sooo cute! â€ïžđ€đđ€
Another great reaction. Dire Straits had a lot of good ones. You would have to listen to all of their albums because there are many songs that didn't make the charts that I think are worth listening to.
Great song - fouling up in your attempts initially and then triumphing through the walk of life. :)
Yes more Dire Straits, you should listen to " Why Worry " off the same CD. Keep up the awesome reviews love you guys
Great job thanks
Telegraph Road, studio version for a song with a story. My favourite by them.
An old friend told me to turn this song on whenever I felt down in the dumps... never fails. đ„°
