this is the scene from Boulevard Nights 1979 when big happy calls Raymond a chavala.. I remixed the theme song to a hip Hop instrumenal to change the scenes energy
Speaking of people being on their cellphone these days, I was driving(stalled in traffic because of road construction) and within 10' of one another there were two "workers" standing there, shovel and rake in one hand, cellphone in the other, steadily texting and as I set there for approximately 3 minutes, they never looked up, never put their phones up, they just leaned on their rake and shovel, oblivious to what was going on around them. This is why road construction takes years to finish people.
I saw this movie when I was 19 and stationed in Germany back in the day. Cruising the boulevard on New Year's Eve was always a good time. Great times back then.
I remember watching this movie over 30 years ago. I was just a kid then and these dudes looked so grown up to me, but now that I'm much older these guys look like babies.
The "lingo" as you refer to it is actually derived from Calo or "Pachuco Slang" during the Zoot Suit days. Its neither Spanish/English nor Splangish, it was a unique language "lingo" brought to LA from El Paso and Ciudad Juarez. Of course the streets changed some of the pronunciation (over the years), but its pretty much stayed the same since....
The old Cali. How much things changed and how the basic social ingredients stay the same. I vaguely remember this movie but the remix of the music is dope uploader. 🔥🔥🔥👊🏾
I got this movie on DVD. Bought it out of Canada. I seen this movie ditching jr.high school in the 80's. They also had the The Doberman Gang.Dude had dobermans robbing banks, for y'all OGs out there.
How about all your OGs who were quickly forgotton by their so called crew and had no visits in jail...or phone calls for 15-30 years. Lots of Brotherhood there.
Damn good movie! When it first came out, all the cliques made a truce~knowing that most cliques would be in the same theater/drive in.....no violence during the viewing.....

I remember seeing this movie on opening night at The Alcratraz Theater in Bell. The scene where they played shotgun by Jr Walker stands out in my memory for some reason.
Damn talk about stumbling into something by accident. Who knows how it propped up on my things to see. I remember seeing it as a kid when it came out. Vaguely remember it, only that it was 2 bros one named chuco (didn't even know it was puppet) who was killed at the end. I Got to find full movie.

Did anyone catch 3 things in this scene. First 10 seconds Chuco was just walking and waiting for Big Happy to give him a sign and make a move, which he did at :38 seconds 😂😂 but at :57 seconds he shows he would rank out. I was a kid when I understood that part.
This is what you get when it's about color, race, hoods, Barrios. It's about being civilized, self respect as part of mankind. Not separated and creating divisions, to be only what God wants for us all. Live in love and unity.
Haha, me and my homie used to say this to each other all the time just like this fool in Jr. High in 1994. I still watch this movie here and there and everytime I wait for this part. Still fuckin funny.

Back then it was fist fights, maybe a knife, bat or something.. Not saying fighting is good, but back then you lived to fight another day. Youngsters these days are quick to pull a gun, and end someone's life in exchange ruining theirs, going to prison for sa life sentence.

from the 38 to 45 second mark....Thats alot of manly contact. Probably would serve him very well if in real life he were jailed.
