My grandma would tell me how crazy it was at night back then I grew up in the end of that old vibe the 90s Whittier would be packed ... they're trying to bring back the scene tho
So, I was curious and went on Google maps to see how far apart is Vista Grande from 11th Street in L.A. Dood, it's literally 16 minutes away driving, & like 2 hrs. plus walking after all the traffic. Lmao. The film makes it seem like it's like a 10-15 block radius. lol
None of us deny possibly having Spanish origins, BUT we do NOT listen to the music or even talk about it, because it's not a part of our lives as Mexicans/Mexican-Americans. That music was just the white director's ignorance or Hollywood mentality where they juxtapose the wrong things together that make sense in their minds.
The reason you hear them has nothing to do with Mexican, it's a disco tune that properly depicted the times in the late 70's that the producers picked out.....simply put. Disco had a lot of latino flavor back then.
The movie was actually written and produced by a white guy and an Asian guy. To them, flamenco and Mexican music was probably all the same. Give them credit for even stepping out of their comfort zone and making this movie.
They need to release the full %100 audio instrumental version of this. I legit hate hearing a bunch of fckin negras saying “dímelo” a thousand times, completely louder than the actual song.
Honestly this movie is an absolute masterpiece, every single aspect of it is beautifully done
Absolutely agree....really tells the story~

Great film. Though not my kind of taste in cars but great to see this. I’m more into hot rods and rat rods. Exactly like AMERICAN graffiti.
