Oris is one of my favorite watches, I have three, first their designs are very masculine and rugged, and their quality is on par with the top mid range luxury watches, omega, Tudor, Tag, and many of these mid ranged luxury watches used ETA or Selita's that were modified, so Oris isn't alone. I'm glad I bought three at what I consider a discount, my XXL Oris pointer day is still one of my favorite and unique watches. Oris made 1.1 million watches last year and Rolex made 1 million so both are relatively low numbers
I just bought my 1. Oris yesterday ( Limited Dat Watt in a store, not online or used ). I did not buy it because it was an Oris or because I thought of it as a luxury watch or not, I bought it because I thought it was so unique and beautiful. I think people should buy a watch because of how that watch makes you feel. You wanna be flashy and make a bold statement of having money, get a Rolex/Omega/Breitling, if you are a middleclass guy like me, buy what your heart tells you to.

"Luxury" will be different for everyone -- for me, luxury is defined by any unnecessary purchase that makes me genuinely scared.
I felt this when I purchased by Oris Diver 65 3 years ago -- one of the best purchases I've made by far.
Love Oris and just about to buy the Aquis Hangang (my second Aquis). Not only stunning designs but far more modern looking than most of their higher priced counterparts. Like others have considered Breitling Superoceans and other comparable brands, but putting the price, movement and the snob factor to one side, just not as pleasing to the eye as the almost "Jewel Like" Aquis. Something rather understated about this brand which is a statement of class in itself. Definitely watches to wear and thrill, rather than only getting them out for a special occasion and wondering how much it might have risen in value since the last time you wore it.
I've been wearing my Oris Big Crown since 2013. Hasn't missed a beat. Still keeps perfect time. And has not had the back off.
I own two Oris watches. I love them. High quality luxury watches at affordable prices.
My Aquis is my daily watch. 'Swiss Made' brands are protected and dictate the Oris authenticity. As Oris simply understates, "A real watch for real people" and "The working man's watch!" I'll never buy anything else, as my Aquis Date is all the luxury I need in a watch...except for that blue dial Aquis Chronograph, I'm eyeballing.

I just bought a 2017 Oris BC3 Advanced Day Date. This watch is absolutely amazing. The quality and value is undeniable. Oris is without a doubt a luxury brand.
I have an Oris Aquis Date 41.5 in the blue and I absolutely love it. I used to work in international logistics as sales and account management. For my customers, if we cleared their customs, we would require their commercial invoice to show what they paid for the product they imported. One of my new customers was a shoe importer that sold to places like Macy's and JCPenney. Some of the women's pumps/heels were purchased by my customer, the importer, for about $4-$8/pair. I later looked them up and they were being sold for anywhere from $60-$90. I always knew there was much lower pricing when you bought as a retailer but I had no idea that the margins were that high. So, when you buy something like most Rolex's Breitlings, Jaeger LeCoultre or other super fancy watches, regardless if you can afford it or not, you are being taken advantage of BIG TIME. With that being said, I'm not a sucker that looks to be taken advantage of.
As a former jewelry store manager, watch mark ups are 25% from the manufacturer. For most items, the more expensive it was , the lower the markup. In Department stores, clothes and other less priced items would typically have a 10X markup. So even if they're having a 1/2 off sale, they 're not losing money.
I mean oris uses a selita movement which cost probably 200 or their modified version let's just say 250. You're still paying way more for margins no matter what. Just buy what you like and enjoy it, you're just knocking other brands to make yourself feel better about your purchase

Great video , my collection includes 5 Oris , approx 1-2 K Previous comments entry level spend 2K more for an Omega , been there & sold it .
Fair review. I wear my Oris as my go-to daily watch. They are extremely well made, durable and nice looking. I believe Oris has a niche that few other watches can compete with.
I Just bought my first ever lottery, watch Oris love it quality all the way through it you can tell when you get a good quality luxury watch by the feel of it
Had an oris pro diver for 10 years, never missed a beat. Don't wear it as often as it's a monster on the wrist. Today I'm wearing a oris big crown pro pilot, again, never missed a beat. Would recommend them in a heart beat. And as a working class man I wouldn't say 2k is cheap for a watch. All the best guys.
Did a great job on this. Was wearing my oris divers 65 when I clicked on the video. I own some other more recognizable luxury watches, but I grab my oris 4-5 days a week because it’s so darn good. Thinking of picking up an Aquis next.

I have 3 wonderful Oris watches. They are absolutely highest quality, beautiful watches. I have an Aquis, Big Crown Limited Edition Roberto Clemente and the older (but amazing) Frank Sinatra. The finish, movement and design are amazing.
I have a Rolex, omega, Tudor and an oris. I see oris as a sport medium luxury watch that I can take to the beach or traveling anywhere, without worrying to scratch it or get it stolen. I love it

I agree with your characterization of Oris as an entry-level luxury watchmaker for 2 reasons - price and the fact that many of their models make use of movements designed and manufactured by outside suppliers who have their own standards of quality control. They have begun to rectify this through the development of in house movements for some of their higher priced aquis models.

In every hobby there are “everyman” brands & marques that only the most dedicated students are aware of. Not ultra-high end, but a cut above, aimed squarely at a different niche within the niche; not for those who can pay the entry fee, but for those whom possessing the requisite knowledge to find the club in the first place guarantees admission. Brands who keep their prices outside the everyday, but inside the every year, just slightly too small a target to appear in the cross-hairs of those hunting an easy flex, but large enough to be considered a real prize for those willing to follow it’s tracks & see the whites of it’s eyes before taking it down.
That’s true luxury and that, imo, is Oris.

I love Oris watches, I always feel like I stole something every time I buy one. They are a legacy brand that delivers value without cutting corners. OBTW, Tag Heuer’s are chit watches, great example of a high price luxury brand that is chit. A high end watchmaker once warned me not to buy a Tag, I asked him why? And he opened a cabinet and pointed to over a dozen Tag Heuer’s in need of repair. He said he will always have plenty of work as long as people keep buying Tag’s…😆😂😀😭
My Aquis GMT is my daily. I dont care if it is luxury or not, the quality is up there with best and the designs are beautiful and original.
Love my william f1 day/date and my next might be ball watches , their luminous damn nice

Oris means indipendence, quality and being reserved. Longines means inner elegance and balance. My favorite ones.
I own An Oris Aquis Whale Shark Limited Edition and I can honestly say I wear this timepiece more than any other of my luxury watches I which I own 6, 3 x Tudors, 2 Rolex and 1 x Oris.

Yes Oris is an entry level luxury brand.. especially being a long standing independent MAINSTREAM brand. They are beginning to market better as of recent

I have a propilot big crown and an artix gt chronograph they are absolutely exceptional and fit and finish is as good as tag and better than longines.
Oris is fantastic. I have an Aquis cal 400 and the material and build quality is excellent. One of the nicer bracelets out of any brand, I believe.
I think with some of their recent limited editions and the introduction of really exceptional in-house calibers, Oris is on the rise. Very recently they’ve started incorporating 18k gold into some of their watches, and at a very aggressive price point.
They are definitely moving upmarket. Another commenter put them on the same level as Tudor and I completely agree.
Correction: Oris has watches in the 13000 - 20000 CHF region, limited and made of gold. Not just 8k in your currency.
If you want in-house caliber at oris, you’ll pay CHF 3000 - 7000. When Rolex were still available in store, just a few years ago, you could get several models 36-40+mm for that price. The difference is that Oris doesn’t overcharge for its name and it’s a watchbrand for watch people, rather than flexers who don’t understand or truly appreciate what they are wearing. Oris has big history in aviation and diving and is still very active there, like Hamilton, which is a watch brand, cheaper, eventhough it has that stage light from being in movies and being worn by celebrities.
I think price shouldn’t be the deciding factor whether it’s a luxury brand or not, for the following reason: I own several Oris watches and also a Carl F.Bucherer Manero Power Reserve with in-house movement. That’s a 10000 CHF watch and nobody knows the brand that asked me about the watch. It has everything it needs to be on let’s say Rolex level, for example tourbillon watches that cost 100000+ CHF, Marketing in movies (John Wick, and many others), advertisements all across Airports and yet no one knows or talks about it being a luxury watch brand. Just my opinion based on my experience that I’ve had with my CFB.
Or like Hublot - expensive, lots of celebrities wear hublots and it’s officially a luxury brand, but we all know hublots are still overpriced af and pretty shit.
Ps. Not all Zeniths are 9000-1000. Here in CH we have Zeniths Defy with date for 5-6k.
I think that Longines is very similar to Oris in that it is an Entry-level Luxury brand, though one with a lot longer heritage.
I have a Longines HC (and am lusting for the Zulu Time) and I think an Oris Aquis will soon join my collection.
Oris is great I’ve used a couple of their dive watches and umm they work haha don’t need some boujie watch to get the job done.
idc if it's luxury or entry level luxury or just a regular swiss watch. I love my Oris watches and would buy them over a TagHeuer, Breitling or a Tudor. It's not about the price, why i would choose Oris, over the others, but more how i like the design, the feel on the hand, ... the only downside for me personally is the integrated bracelet, that limits the strap options and is not that versatile as other watches with a standard 20,21,22mm lug width.I would say, Oris is a brand you either love, or not even look at it. From an interview I've seen of CZcamsr and Oris AD Rep, they explained that Oris tries to keep their prices as low as they can and would purposely not do things that would drive up cost such as adding too many precious metals/gems or adding extra crafted details, which may explain their low marketing if their goal is to keep price low and affordable.
I like a big crown or a diver from Oris if I can get them at a good price.
Oris is an INDEPENDENT watch brand.
No money for marketing, like Swatch brands and I orefer it that way
I have a couple of Oris watches. They are beautiful watches with amazing quality and craftsmanship. So aside from the price, I think Oris is a very high quality watch. That is my humble opinion.
Luxury or not they looks so good so clean, others feel either so cluttered or so boring and bland. These just seem right some how

Come on. Tag Heuer has a great in house movement for several years now. They sell millions of watches per year. Their history is far superior to most watch companies. Oris is a good watch, but your statement about tag is off.

My 1990 Tag Diver was stolen. I had £1500 from insurance. I bought an Aquis. Don't regret it, but miss my Tag. 😢

For most people in the world, anything over $1000 is luxury.
They put tag to shame & I would say are above longines & rado in their quality.
Entry level luxury at this price point but I've always thought they were underpriced for the quality they offer.
I have a few Oris watches I love them.... I guess I don't buy into the fact that the Big boys spending millions on having people wear their watches... I rather have the great quality over paying Tiger Woods 10 million a year to wear his.

I've owned a Sinn 104 for some time now and just got an Oris Aquis Date in green. I would agree with "entry level luxury" for both models and I love them but compared to my Tudor BB58 for example (which some people see as entry level luxury), they don't hold up. Nevertheless, I wear all of them with the same enjoyment which in my opinion is the most important thing.
The sinn104 was my first “expensive”watch. It’s probably my favorite watch. The oris date caliber 400 will bent next.
I love the Oris brand partly because they are not part of the conglomerate watch making machines that needlessly drive up watch prices like Rolex.
Oris is quality, luxury and reliable!

It's a pain in a butt to have Rolex. Cost to much to lubricate, takes forever to return to you and they who clean it makes you feel that it's not your watch. I say do not buy anything too expensive or you will see headache of problems.
The fact that there’s a video that even raises the premises that a 2000 dollar watch is not a luxury just validates everything I hate about watch collector “culture”.

I’m going the other way. Started with Omega and Rolex, but with the rise in armed watch robbery where I live, I’m moving “down” to Oris. Still can wear a quality watch w/much lower financial and personal safety risk.

I did the same. Can't go to the beach with a Rolex,Tudor or fancy Omega..... so it's a simple Seiko ,it's doing the same job or maybe even better.
Yes I can agree with this I’ve owned two Breitling And an Omega PO.I felt uncomfortable wearing all three not just from a security perspective, but they caused anxiety from fear of damaging them with the monetary value that was on my wrist. I’m more comfortable sporting my Oris Aquis, everyone finds their level and Oris is mine

I own an Oris, the Calibre 400 Aquis. Yeah I know Oris isn't at the price range of Rolex's and the AP's of this world, but as one of my friends said to me: 'If you can afford to spend several THOUSAND pounds on a WATCH and not worry about it when many can't, then that's luxury!' Fair point! (I'm in the UK btw, hence the use of £ aha)
Oris are a luxury brand that use a lot of the same movements as the other big luxury brands. I rate them easily as highly as tag for quality and let’s face it, we’d all rather a second hand oris small seconds for £800-£1000 over a battery powered tag, for a similar price.

I have 2, Oris Aquis small seconds, and big crown pro pilot caliber 111, never any problems, and will get more. Why spend more for a Tag with and Eta in it. When u get a bespoke in-house for less

I am about to acquire an Oris second hand and I personally feel it is still a tadbit overpriced. Oris watches usually should be in 1000-1500 usd range. Max 2000 but when they get to 2500+, I think we have better alternatives like the Longines, Tudors and many such other watches. May be German/French brands with exclusive dials. Even Anordain (their waitlist has been closed for months now). I won’t buy an Oris above 1.5 K. New, old anything.

Who cares what category Watches fall in. There are certain watches that become icons regardless of price, Field watches = Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical, Dive watches = Oris Aquis , Pilot = IWC and SINN Chronograph = Omega Speedmaster.

Yes! They are beautifully made and finished. TAGs are not elegant like this. They are also innovative and stylish, not run-of-the-mill.

I class my Oris Aquis to be just as "luxury" as my three Omega watches.
I had an Horologist aka watch repair expert tell me Oris makes the best Movement in the business. Better than Rolex and other Swiss watches. They make their movements in house. That was enough evidence for me. I own an Oris and several Rolexes. The rest is all fluff. Experts don't pay for fluff. I guess that's the difference between Quality and Luxury?

I very rarely say never, but I can say I will never buy a Rolex. It’s not a question of affordability, but one of poor movement quality. Everyone I know that has bought a Rolex has HAD to turn it in for maintenance once a year. It makes owning a Rolex an P.I.T.A. Also, it is the first brand that someone with no knowledge of quality high end watches buys. I own several Oris, Tissot, Tag and Omega watches and they run accurately and they are robust to the point of only needing to be serviced every five to six years.(oh, and yes, they are automatic, not quartz).
You lost me in the credibility department. Your picture of “true luxury timepieces” contained a Hublot…..and then you said history isn’t important as you referenced the success of Richard Mille.

Millions of buyers of Tag Heuer would disagree. Oris is good, but Say Tag as a whole does not have some luxury nice watches is JUST wrong.

Bottom line if you like a watch and it looks good on you then buy it and tell the snobs to suck it.
