Confused about aligning with center of the lens, I saw elsewhere to align with center of gravity mark on bottom of the projector

same here. i'm guessing for ease of placement so you don't have to calculate the offset, as long as it's level i guess its fine

This mounting kit can't be centered. Therefore, they recommend aligning with the center lens to avoid the image tilting.
