    First, I know I say "Taurus" funny; it's my good ole Tennessee dialect that loves to mispronounce words. Don't hate on me for that 🙂. Also, I failed to mention the price of the pistol: MSRP is $349. Real world price on this handgun is around $310. Sorry, I forgot to mention that.

      "Taurus", "stinger"...you have your own way of speaking. It's funny to hear the first time, like anyone who pronounces something just a bit different, but not distracting. Besides, I'm from Missour-ah, so I can't complain. 😊

    I've had the TX22 for a week now. My 3rd shot was a failure to feed. I have put 900 rounds of CCI Tactical with that 1 failure to feed and another 500 rounds of CCI blazer with no failures. This gun is the real deal. Would recommend new sights. Highly recommend to anyone watching.

    I've been looking to down-grade from 9mm since I have some shoulder injuries and a surgical repair that didn't work, and 9mm and higher just tears me up after a day at the range. I've been actively shopping 22s lately, and this could be the one. Thanks. I love when people laugh at people who choose smaller bore rounds as a waste of time or as ineffective, or as "girl guns". My answer is always the same... "Cool, can I shoot you with my 22?" So far, no one has said yes, so I guess they don't suck as much as people say.

    • @scotteger6271
      @scotteger6271 Před 4 lety +13

      I agree with you Chris but would say also consider .380acp as an option. If you get a decent size handgun there will be minimal recoil and a lot of the 380's on the market today are a lot easier to rack the slide than 9mm. A couple of suggestions I would make would be the S&W 380EZ, new Walther CCP M2 in 380, as well as SCCY CPX 3 or 4 and look for them to make their new DVG 1 in 380 soon I'm sure.
      I would also recommend a revolver that is capable of shooting 327 federal magnum, as you could then shoot 32 short, 32 long, 32 h&r and 32 acp. Also a revolver has no slide to rack. Nothing against 22lr and I don't want shot by it, just ammo finicky at times and not great against heavy clothing layers or other obstacles. Good luck with your shoulder issues hope they can be fixed for you.

      @Erin There will never be a firearm that doesn't have some type of failure since there are so many factors in why failures occur with firearms and isn't always the firearm. It can be from User Failure, Ammo Failure, Firearm Failure, Environment Failure, Magazine Failure, and lastly Tarus Failure (Had to do it).
      I'm not referring only to jams whatsoever.

    • @gymkhanadog
      @gymkhanadog Před 5 lety +8

      @Erin ... agreed. However EVERY firearm jams, whether it's semiautomatic or not. Even a bolt-action or pump-action firearm can jam (and sometimes in some pretty bizarre ways!). There is no firearm in history that has never jammed, from the most reliable tactical tupperware to the piggiest pig iron 1911 or 12ga shotgun.

      gymkhanadog That isn't bad, for a .22 rimfire round that isn't even designed for auto loaders. Every other cartridge that's designed for an auto loader, is RIMLESS. There's a reason for that... I just got back home from shooting my .223 Savage bolt rifle, and my little Phoenix Arms HP22. I had replaced the extractor on my Phoenix, and I wanted to see if it was fixed. It ran great! I had my .223 sighted dead on at 200 yards, the last time that I was out playing with it. Well, today it was so windy, that it was hitting 4" to the right. Probably 35 mph wind bursts. Not a good day to be shooting a rifle. I had to get out and shoot tho, because it had rained here for the last 4 days. Ahhhhh..... I feel better now. Does anyone else go thru withdrawals when they don't get to shoot for a few days??? I know I do!

  • @stephenarmstrong3679
    @stephenarmstrong3679 Před 2 lety +4

    I've had this gun for one day. I love it. I shot 300 rounds through it. Brand new, I had two failures to feed (I consider the first 100 rounds as a breakin period). No failures for the next 200 rounds (see item #4 for mag loading). I was in the market for a Kel-tec P17 but haven't been able to procure one for over a year now. I decided to pony up the extra dough for this pistol. I don't know why I was hung up over the extra $100. I can't compare it to the Kel-tec since I've never fired one but I was not disappointed in my purchase of the TX-22. I hadn't seen this video before I bought it. I only vaguely remember the G&A article on it 2 yrs ago. My first impressions. 1. This gun's accuracy is very good. 2. The grip on this gun feels just right, Tauras knocked it out of the park on that one. 3. The sights need tweeked to suit your preferences. The adjustable sight is good but not great in adjustment range. 4.There is a trick to easy loading of the mags. Pull the round "handles" only down far enough to load a few cartridges at a time (It does get hard to pull at the last 12-16 cartridges). When done slap the mag against your palm and the last few bullets get into proper alignment for feeding.
    BTW: Running CCI 1070 fps standard ammo through it the whole time.

    I bought one of these pistols and was so excited. Took it to the range and it ate everything I fed it. At 250 rounds it started to key hole. The barrel was so caked with lead that when I tried to clean it my cleaning rod got stuck inside and then when I pulled it out the tip remained stuck in the barrel. Sent it back. After a quick search I see that this issue with barrels is common. It ran like a champ and turns out I am the chump.

I had only 3 rounds that didn’t fully get ejected. This is my first 22 Pistol, now Glock will make one since I bought this one. I almost bought the Advantage Arms conversion kit with the threaded barrel. It would have cost more than this whole pistol and much less warranty. All the excellent reviews on this pistol made me try it. Glad I did, paid $300 for it, I couldn’t be happier. Mounted my suppressor to it and it was way to much fun. Thanks Taurus….

    I looked at the new G3 and the trigger is far nicer than the G2...hopefully they make a G3c and G3s.

    I was originally looking at the G2C by Taurus but my coworker mentioned to look into a 22. Love that this isn’t too much higher in cost than the G2C and also the ease to clean. Looking to get my first firearm that is budget friendly soon, so between this and the G2C sounds like are solid choices.

    As usual a great review. I purchased one of the first TX22 pistols in my area. Mine also shoots 2 to 2 1/2 inches high at 50 feet from sandbags. I found that loading the magazines with the follower pulled down caused the angle of the bullets to be down and hollow points wouldn’t feed. If I loaded just as you show all hollow points feed perfect. The Federal AutoMatch ammo will not eject or feed properly with more than 10 rounds in a magazine.
    I also can shoot this pistol accurately. I have fired over 500 rounds in the TX22.

    This looks very interesting, I may have to pick one up. I like that it is suppressor ready. I currently own a Taurus PT111 G2 that has run perfectly for almost the last 4 years. Never 1 FTF or FTE. It has run like a Swiss Clock. Even though their warranty has changed, mine is still covered under their life time warranty, not that I have ever needed it. However I have an old (30 years) PT 92 that has trouble with the trigger returning to a fire position. It is also covered under the lifetime warranty so I guess I’ll see how well they take care of that issue.

    I am looking forward to trying this. I have a 709 slim in 9mm from Taurus. I absolutely love it. It is very accurate and I dont recall ever having a feed failure. A few years ago it was one of only 3 compact 9mm in a bit "shootout" by a major handgun magazine. If I recall correctly, they shot 600 rounds through each pistol with no lube ....just as it came from the factory. If no failures occurred they went to 1000 rounds. Only 4 made it....Glock 43, Shield, Taurus 709 slim and Walther CCP. Another note, of all the guns, the Taurus logged the single tightest group of 5. Its a great and economical pistol.

  • @Bkellyusa
    @Bkellyusa Před 5 lety +10

    To the Taurus critics I don't understand why anyone would still be condemning Taurus when they are currently manufacturing quality guns at generally speaking very reasonable prices. It's to every shooters benefit that there are more high quality firearms available at this price point.
    As it is I have never owned a Taurus pistol and still haven't purchased one but the G2C has really gotten my attention. You've got to spend a whole helluva lot more money to get an arguably better 9mm automatic. The G2C has impressed me so much I plan to buy one soon even though I don't need another 9mm. Now, with the release of the TH9 and this new TX22 it is obvious that Taurus is on a roll and deserves support. The only people who I might forgive are those who have, in the past, purchased a Taurus gun and had problems with it. I had the same issue with a S&W Shield 9mm. I learned to really hate that gun and traded it for a Walther. Despite that I don't go around condemning Smith & Wesson as a manufacturer.
    What I have always liked about Taurus pistols is that they are always doing very innovative things with their weapons and, now, with their quality on the rise I welcome them and congratulate them for the success they are having. I hope they keep going in this direction.
    My only complaint is that their customer service is still rumored to be awful. I hope that they address that soon.

      Bkellyusa Customer service is very slow. I sent a TCP .380 to them one time, and didn't get it back for 4 months. They replaced the barrel, and the slide, and it ran great when I got it back, but 4 months is rediculous. I recently gave that gun to my mom, because all she had was a .38 ultra lite that hurt her hand when she shot it. I'm gonna take her out and train her with it, one day this week. I want her to feel confident carrying a weapon, and knowing she could use it, if she had to. Besides, I've got plenty of carry options, so I didn't really need it.

    • @Bkellyusa
      @Bkellyusa Před 5 lety +1

      @@grumpysquid - I bought the Walther CCP M2. I love mine as well. The S&W Shield is really hard to rack for my wife and you cannot release the slide without using both hands. Add to that the Walther is significantly more accurate.
      Your PPS is generally considered a better weapon. The original CCP had some jamming issues and I think that has dampened the enthusiasm for the new M2 version which works flawlessly.
      I chose it over the PPS because the PPS does not have a thumb safety. I know there are many people who don't care for a thumb safety but I like to keep all my options open and, in the real world, if you don't like the safety you can easily just turn it off.
      The CCP M2 is my first Walther pistol and my experience so far has really awakened me to the brand. Now I'd like to get the PPQ Sc 9mm. We'll keep the CCP M2 and add that one sometime in the future.
      How come you chose the PPS.

    • @grumpysquid
      @grumpysquid Před 5 lety

      Bkellyusa you seem like a very reasonable and level headed guy 😬
      PPS M2 compared to G43 and Shield because: out-of-the-box performance, best trigger, aftermarket not needed, best ergonomics for my hand, 6 to 8-rd mags available, and its uniqueness in looks, etc.
      Had it over a couple years and here are my nitpicks (based on MY needs, etc): mags are $40 a pop (but again this is not a big deal), some tiny rust spots forming on the metal mags, no +P ammo (per the manufacturer, not a big deal). Otherwise it has been a stellar gun, fun to shoot and the one which makes it to my hip most often.

The only problem I had with them was with the mags on the PT145 that would drop out of the weapon about the 2nd or 3rd round. As it turned out, it was entirely due to faulty foreign made mags. I do have a Ruger SR22 which I really love so I do not NEED the TX22 but I would not hesitate to take a chance on it, Taurus has really upped their quality control on their products.
