This is the OST to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for the NES! But in my own form of Stereo! Which spreads the sound channels and adds a bit of echo/reverb. These mixes also do not represent true, original, or actual stereo that the NES has, this is just to make the music sound more clear and crisp, and is another way of listening to the greatness of 8Bit music. So enjoy this soundtrack in what I like to call, WiiGuy's 8Bit Stereo!! :D

All these years later, the track at 1:16 frequently pops into my head when doing everyday stuff. Love it
Happens to me all the time too, right now even haha!
yep same! and I'm 35 years old now!
Oh man!! Always grooving!!
I came here just to rehear this part lmao Im glad I’m not alone
Hahaha 😅 so I'm not the only one lol. I'm about to be 44 and I've always hummed it aloud along to it in my head, nobody knows what it's from and I don't ever say lol
I spent most my time as a child at the hospital and they had the nes with that game i played it so much..i had the feeling of freedom when you could walk around the game ...but i was stuck in the hospital..that game will forever be in my head with that song that plays when you walk around in the open world
Boby Didier Thanks for sharing your story man. Glad this game helped you through that rough time of yours.
and look at you now bro!! swole boi ftw lml
Ikr this game was soooo hard to even get to further levels....one of the few NES games I could not beat lmao
And I hope you're still doing good homie! This game was a big part of my childhood too! Haha
That under water hurry up music still kicks my anxiety off 30 years later
It’s honestly on par with the sonic drowning music, if not worse.
This brings back painful memories of the underwater bombs level.
I actually beat that part not that hard.
bobby smickers Actually easy. Yes you have to figure out the best order to disable the bombs but when you know that I don't see what's so hard about it.The caves and the Technodrome are hard.
I agree.
the part where you are supposed to walk instead of jump despite there being a gaping hole, thats frustrating
Fuck the caves and Technodrome... I died fighting the technodrome and it only had one bar of health left... so I don't even know what it looks like on the inside..
Several decades later, I learned that each weapon, even the garbage ones, had enemies it did high and low damage against, apparently you needed to experiment and remember the optimal weapon for each enemy. Then you could easily defeat the iconic TMNT villains: Johnny Storm the Human Torch, Leatherface, Battletoad and Assorted Flying Bullshit.
Raphael did the most damage with his sais, but it's undercut by how atrocious his range is, so that's why he gets to tangle with the seaweed in the bomb defusal mission.
I know this was not the Turtles game everyone wanted back then (everyone wanted the arcade version) but this game was still enjoyable. And the music is especially memorable for me. For a licensed kids game, the music does a remarkable job of straddling the line between sounding fun, and inferring the sense of stressful intensity that this game required to beat.
Michael Dougherty The NES game predated the coin-op by several months (both were released in '89). It received middling reviews even back then, but still sold by the truckloads (4+million copies). I can barely stomach the game nowadays due to its flaws, but its soundtrack still shines
Michael Dougherty I liked it because it was and truly felt like TMNT pre-TV. That it was originally meant to be inspired by the comic. Hence the red bandana on the cover. That gave it some of cred no turtle game since ever strived for. I mean look at that cover, photo shop aside, they look like killers. They never looked that dope ever again IMO.
Still think this game has aged better than the other two NES ones though
This was the first game i ordered as a kid. sears had to have been so annoyed with some little kid calling every day about if his game was in.
Isn't this the one that had little Pizza Hut symbols on some of the buildings?
Love it or hate it - unforgettable soundtrack!
One of the best NES soundtracks 🙌
Whoever multicolored the bandannas and sashes on that TMNT box art is a monster.
My exact thoughts.
Should all be red ones. 😅
You know, the very original turtles all wore red because of blood and violence, Raph kept his red because he is physically the strongest turtle, he liked it.
I’m used to the multi-coloured look because of the 1980’s cartoon and 1990 movie. Yet, the moderately rightist part of me strongly appreciates the need to keep it original and on point. It was red because of blood, obviously.
Loved the graphics, the music, and how it was all set up, but it was a pain in the ass to play.
1:16 - that Summer of '90 feel... yes!
I know, it says 1989, but it was definitely rented a lot in 1990 so that's where I associate it.
Donatello's staff was twice as powerful as all other weapons, with longer range, was kinda unfair. Still LOVED this game.
I remember protecting Donatello so hard so i could have him for the boss fights. I loved this game..... I don't remember it being super glitchy...hard.....yes ...infuriating to my poor 10 year old self...you bet ya...but I got my moneys worth on this game. There was no Steam Summer sale....this was it till next Christmas.....
This game began a lifelong preference for Donny.
It's a bo..which is the same as staff, but nevertheless, it's still the term used for his weapon of choice.
6:58 is the coolest boss battle song ever!
So true
It's intense when you first encounter the Technodrome, and everything's glitching out.
6:05 was the pinnacle for me...Friday night consisted of watching TGIF then playing this until 12am lol
+SkruLoozE MAAAAANNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!! The good ole days..........
Why *was* this theme so bad@$$ compared to the other themes?
*Only* 12 AM? Phh...
Oh that's a beauty weekend!
MY PEOPLE!!!
The difficulty of this game made me take the ninja turtles so seriously as a kid and made the stakes seem so much higher. People get mad at the difficulty but if you STARTED with this game as I did, all other TMNT games seem like breeze by comparison.
No one ever mentions how great this soundtrack was
1:16 is the only composition I've ever heard that has a musical question mark.
+Chan Kobun Holy shit...I was like..."What's he talking abo....*hears the "question mark" in music* Ohhh shit, he's right LOL"
+Chan Kobun For anyone wondering, I didn't come up with that phrase, it was used on the "TMNT Tunes" episode of VGMpire, which if you enjoy this channel, you damn well should be listening to.
+Rocking Pokkon I think you didn't get the joke.
It sounds different on PC version
Therapist: "So when did your anxiety start?"
Me: 5:40
Rivals the Sonic drowning music
The more time passes, the more I appreciate this game.
While it might not have the best graphics in the world or the most balanced gameplay it certainly unique among other TMNT games of that era.
Soundtrack is top notch, as expected from Konami of that time.
What an amazing composer. Even the "game over" tune is complex. There's so much communication of theme in his music, and a lot of it is very conversational. So classy :)
This game sounds glorious in stereo, it really brings out the leads and the awesome drum fills!
How did they get such awesome guitar solo's using the NES sound chip!!??? Intro theme rocks it out!
The composer did such a great job on the simulated reverb, it really kills it on that track
*solos*
From the bottom of my heart I thank you for this! These tunes have come back to both haunt and please me almost 20 years later and I couldn't be happier!
Of the four first videogames I ever had on NES, this is still the only one I haven't managed to beat. I always get overwhelmed in the Technodrome.
This was my first NES game. I was like, idk 4? 5? Idk but I loved this game even though I couldn’t get passed the damn dam level!!
You weren’t the only one.
You just *walk* over it...
Lmao Awesome
cowabunga?...
Cow-a-fucking piece of dog shit!
LMAO I love you for this
Get up there, get the fuck up there!!!
I still think this captures the spirit of TMNT more than any other soundtrack.
Right off the bat , the title music/cut scene etc sets the mood for a game that really says , “ i hope you have a pair because I’m about to kick your ass and make you regret being born”
The track at 6:03 is the song I remember hearing the most in the game, because this levels it was in took me forever to get past. The track at 9:24 was always my favorite one. I remember when I first got to the board. It felt a little scary and the music just sounded so chill and awesome. I remember loving every second of this song, and every other song that was on this level too. Also for the underwater level of the Dam. That was beautiful music too, I don't know anyone who didn't like it
The track at 6:03 is the same for me. It's also my favorite joint in the game though so I never mind spending a lot of time in those stages. At least the music makes me happy. Your favorite is my second favorite. A really dope tune for sure.
@@dashaunsimmons Damn I made this comment 9 years ago....but I appreciate your response!
All these 8-bit games soundtracks take me back to the good young days ....thank u wiiguy
You're welcome :)
Wait! The box art is supposed to show them all with red bandanas!
Also, the TV show was pretty much the biggest thing around at the time this game was produced, which meant that they were going to go with the "TV look" on the box-artwork (multicolored bandannas), as opposed to the "comic-book look" (red bandannas).
Pretty sure I had them all with red bandanas on my EU NES game cover :o And yeah this show was equal to DBZ back in the day. DBZ in the morning and TMNT in the afternoon in France in the 90s.
They never went with the TV look, all games had them with the red bandanas. That's just photoshopped
Yep ! TMNT Volume 1, #4, second printing, May 1987, artwork by the great Michael Dooney ;) All red bandanas. And they were all red also on the games. Maybe there was an edit for some other countries. You know, like the UK who used to call them TMHT for Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles... Did UK had a thing against ninjas ?! ^^
iamfondoftmnt Ninjas where seen as too violent I guess. Where I live the goverment got all worried about ¨deadly nunchakus¨ because of Bruce Lee flicks and banned them from the country, but you can still buy a katana, an axe or even a gun. But watch out for those deadly nunchakus! :p
I listen to this everyday at least 5 times! Thanks for posting. Try listening at .5 speed. Its a whole new experience!!
I'm glad you're up front about editing the audio to make it sound more crisp, a lot of channels just reupload the same echo-ey sounds and then you can't find the originals anywhere.
2:59 - Play this if you're constipated and pushing hard when at the loo.
***** Lulz, you nailed it.
Donita PuNx LMAO
Dude that is so funny
I swear 9:22 Is 8 Bit Beatles - Come Together.. Bad ass bassline.
I was thinking the same thing!
yep!!
+Vinny LT And the intro is 8 Bit Stone Cold Crazy by Queen
track right before this one is awesome too
that's been bugging me since 89'
wiiguy for president
Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay

Hey, if Yeezy can... Just sayin
That fucking seaweed!
Goddamn lost a turtle!
@@arkaea or two!
WOW!!! this brings back so many memories. I played this game so much as a kid.. Thanks for posting.
One of the best soundtracks ever. Thank you for posting it, and many others.
My second game on the nes. Brings back alot of good memories as a kid. Back when themes for video games was good.
_"Cowabunga? Cowa-fucking piece of dog shit!"_ - The Angry Video Game Nerd, 2006
Maximus4587 AVGN rocks!
07:46 The best song from this game
Good ole days!!' Remember playing this when I was about 11 or 12 now 35!!! Time waits for no man......Always Believe.....
Man" I got this game for Xmas of "89!!!!!!!! Great Game
Had this games as a kid over 20 years ago and still love it now. Soundtrack is awesome. Thanks for doing this one as it brings back many memories!
My first Nintendo game (with duck hunt/super Mario bros)! My childhood! What a great memories!
One of my favorite games, back when I was young, thanks for the memories, the water stages sucked so bad, but never deterred me! Tmnt for the win!
07:46 "Your mission , should you choose to accept it..."
Haha, well, that's pretty close since Konami made a Mission: Impossible game for NES.
It does sound pretty sneaky :)
God this music will forever haunt my dreams reminding me to get good
just hearing the 8 bit music brings me memories in my childhood time :) just wish i can go back to the past and re-live it.
My grandpa had this game. I remember starting it up just for the cool intro and music. :)
This game kicked my ass as a kid. Never got past the swimming level without a Game Genie so I could ignore the damage from the...electric seaweed? Either way, I could just focus on the bombs and then get stuck never knowing where to go next until I turn off the game.
(Never beat that game.)
Armando Morales
I used to love those water stages. The main problem for me was those stupid sewer stages. Why in the hell could a turtle not swim in this game.
How old your grand father?
Cédric Lagin He’s in his 80s now.
Jun Funahashi with those unmistakable melodies! This game and Track & Field II. Classic Konami!
Hidenori Maezawa the Contra OST god!!! Those arrangements and drum kit programming! I can definitely hearing the early makings of the Guardian Heroes OST in this! Thanks for uploading this. It's gonna be a great night listening to all 3 NES OSTs in all their stereo glory!! Great job, man!!
The game that destoryed me as a kid and i never went back to it as an adult. musics pretty good tho.
2:59 When someone you don't like walks into the room.
I am so happy that a new generation of kids will experience the frustration of this game.
My first NES game...And best game for NES!
Same!
not to mention one of the hardest!
Best NES game? Rofl far far from the best. You must not have played many NES games. Smh
As everybody mentioned, i could never get to Shredder once inside that dome tank.
Those flying space men kept taking out so much of my health lol and even running away from them isnt an option since they follow you!!
Here is a trick with Donatello make the enemies follow you and then turn around and then attack rinse and repeat
bring back memories when I even researching how to learn the boss pattern, how to save life for the next boss, how to use boomerang wisely, what the most effective way to kill the sewer enemies, figuring out how to pass through the path using tank, and lot of things that 1 day is not enough
When I was a kid I was always bummed that this game didn’t have the “real” TMNT title theme like the second game. I was a fool. This title theme is so damn good
Yeah, it ended up plastered over every single turtles game that followed in the 90s
@@stepforwardentertainment715 for me its undisputed advantage is that it's not beat 'em up lol
So much for the over world and swimming part.. jeez.. Thanks WII GUY!!
Teenage muntant Ninja Turtles was my game Back then for the Nes
You are the best . Love it !
Sounds great.
Excellent quality in channel mixing.
Good Jorb!
Thanks again WiiGuy. I can practically play the game in my head now.
That Underwater theme! Amazing!
One of the best nes music tracks.
Interesting Fact: The Introduction riff was "borrowed" from Queen´s Stone Cold Crazy
Yep! This is what I've found. Take a listen, and you will hear some similarities to it.
czcams.com/video/Mmt2mgmrSUw/video.html
The first game i have ever loved yet is one of the hardest games ever! Played my bros nes as I was far too young but man this game!! Hard as nails but nailed how I felt as a child about anything ninja turtles. This and the tv show is just love for me!! Feel the same way about the nes version of Topgun!! 😍!
WOOO Loved me some TMNT! My bro and I were fanatics about the turtles back in the day. (we weren't one of them kids that got stuck in the sewers back in the 90's though lol). Last year we decided to order pizza and watch the first movie, which is still better than that Micheal Bay crap. Played the over-world theme as we drove to pick up the pizza, it was funny seeing people recognize the music at stop lights lol.
Duuuuude thank you for uploading this, i used to play this game all the time!
No prob dude, love this music! ;3
This game and soundtrack was it still love it
3:52 give me nightmares omg
Advantage: Programmar has a good cover of this tune called Care for No One.
I need a sequel to this particular TMNT game.
Interesting how they just colored the Eastman & Laird cover turtles masks and belts so they lined up with the TV series/arcade game so it was more relatable to the customers.
WOW!! Great job...
I also owned this game as a kid. Every sound track I hear, I can just picture the stages they play in. Even fighting bosses music. I had trouble in the dam as well. (Don’t let the bombs destroy the dam, you have my support)
Thanks - great channel
9:20 one of my favourite nes tracks period!
I have played this game a lot back then, but this was the first time I heard the final song :P
It took me years to realize the first 15 seconds of the opening theme were essentially the drums from Joe Jackson's "Got The Time", then the guitar riff from "Stone Cold Crazy".
Iconic soundtrack right here. Almost puts the newer games to shame..
Ah childhood. "Cool, a Ninja Turtles game, let's start! Okay, it's outdoors, what's tha-" *immediately instakilled by the rollertank thingie*
brings me down.. oh how I miss my childhood..
Intro music is great. I love that intro. and the stages have catchy rhythmic tunes that get stuck in your head over and over again.
wooooow. tnx wiiguy. I thought I never listen this again.
I like how you have the artwork for the NES cover. The original had all the Turtles in red
6:57 I must've not gotten past this part in the game to remember any of the songs at this point. I do remember fighting Beebop and Rocksteady and after watching some videos of the bosses I vaguely remember saving Splinter, but I can't say I ever came close to beating this game. Easily one of the hardest games I've ever played.
1. on my box cover they all had red bandanas for some reason.
2. these tunes never left my head ever and still hum them periodically.
Sharxiao they put the cover for issue 4 on there because it was easier than drawing up new art and it looks cool
Aha. Thanks for the explanation. s look better than the goofy cartoon style.
I don't care what anyone says I like this game. The soundtrack is actually pretty good too. Li'l trivia, this was the only licensed game that appeared on the Nintendo Virtual Console.
Beau Walker what?
never could beat this game back then but I've always loved the soundtrack
Great trip back to my teens, but damn! This game had some frustrating boards.
its about time, good job buddy. this my favorite soundtrack along with Bayou Billy
Whoever has finished this game w/o cheats, my hats off to you. This game is really hard. Especially the 5th level
One thing you can say for this game is the levels aren't easy. The Technodrome (aka the last level) is by far one of the hardest things I've ever tackled in my 30 years on this earth.
Game Genie saved so many games from being pretty much unplayable.
I played the game yesterday, and noticed the original pitch is a tiny bit slower than this video ;)
10:41 - Sounds like Contra's Ending theme a little bit. Yes, I know both this game and Contra were made by the same company.
It actually isn't a matter of the company (but that does help relate it most of the time), depends on who composed the music and what sound driver it was programmed into. And since Hidenori Maezawa did this game and Contra, that's where the similarities come in :)
plus tmnt is early than contra.i think tmnt and double dragon zedla came out about the same time ?
thats like guilty gear and blazblue sound alike from same company.
George Hoffer 5 Games per publisher in actuality during the NES days.
@George Hoffer: Correction: Ultra was a part of Konami, not the other way around.
XD
Great stuff!!!
This music takes me back!
This soundtrack went HARD! 🤘
i love this game and the music
A difficult, relentless game, but not entirely bad. Great soundtrack.
