      I agree. Nowadays, the only things they're known for are Metal Gear Solid, Silent Hill, Pro Evolution Soccer, and YuGiOh. They have so many classic franchises collecting dust. As a Konami fan from the 80s and 90s, it's sad to see.

      +AnimaxRules happened that Konami in the sixth gen made hundreds of bad and forgettable games that ruined their finances (much like Capcom) and the seventh gen nailed their coffin with awful third party games and few and terribly bad in house games leaving aside Metal Gear, PES and the first Castlevania LoS (By Mercurysteam). Simple as that

    80s-90s were the best year a kid could be born and start playing video games and I know because I born in the 80s . The music of this games and the quallity of the games is nothing you will ever see today ! To find a few good games today it's like finding a 40 years old wine or wiskey ! I wish I still have a NES with all the epic games and play them again and again . The most I like about the NES Era games is the music that is mind blowing !

    A further really great VGOst, absolutely!
    But looking at the comments I just gotta ask, how can vintage gamers be so ignorant to other people and their proceeding social environment in terms of video games? Clearly, the most people grow up and grow out of video games, creating a lack of interest to new games which one isn't as much as attached to as to nostalgic games. It's the effect of nostalgia from childhood which people usually only feel as child in this way, it's mostly not due to the games itself even if also many old games already are well-made and well created. Through my childhood I had been a big fan of Nintendo. The Mario Partys created a great memory, my first Nintendo Game (Mario Kart: Double Dash!!) was such an amazing and new experience (coming from a PC games background at that time when we still had the good old LEGO games for PC like LEGO Racers 1/2 and LEGO Island 1/2/extreme stunts), Super Mario Sunshine, Sports games and many other games (I even own an original of Kao the Kangoroo 2 from a local store)!
    There are many great games made after the 90s and still today even when I agree that many franchises failed their tries for spiritual successors. (But I think it's also legit to say that game series better leave on a high note than stopping it because of less good games at the end due to the demands of earlier games that are difficult to even improve and while old staff is replaced by new one - and although there are very few series which manage to keep the niveau like the new Donkey Kong Country games -.) Anyways, I mean, I only grew up playing console games after the 90s since I've been born slightly prior to the start of the 21st century.
    But thanks to the virtual console on new Nintendo consoles, even I have the possibilites the taste the greatness of some really good old classics (Paper Mario (N64) for example which I was much more amazed about eventually than I ever thought I would be), at least if they are offered to be bought. And I agree, it's remarkable that many games from the past have a great game soundtrack. But I want to say, it makes new games not worse in experience and especially not necessarily having a worse soundtrack/music (quality) thinking of my gamecube experience and very first Wii experience. (Although my Wii U experience - which likely will be my last - has far better succeeded in fullfilling nice expectations/imagination of a successor than the Wii console could ever achieve after the Gamecube.) And it's really a pity: the people are ignoring or not noticing it due to lack of interest to the topic or scepticism but I can tell for myself: the step from N64 to GCN in terms of game experience/visuals feels like the step from Wii to Wii U in contrary to the step from GCN to Wii. And the Wii U gets far too few respect for that achievement. In my point of view, the Wii U failed mainly due to marketing and advertisement (which I never ever noticed here in Europe since Nintendo is ignored anyways and gets no respect from Western RPG and generic shooter gamers), while I find the criticism towards Wii U from self-called gamers absolutely not appropriate and presumptuous since in my view Game experience/mechanics/ideas >> realistic graphics (i.e. if the game is shit or the content is dump, no graphics will help it) and nowadays, there is still really much work/effort put into a Nintendo game for example.
    Enough said, new games aren't bad just because one wasn't born into the those and their new graphical standard. That's my point.

      I got ya, but Tomoya Tomita didn't actually compose in Contra Force, he only provided the Sound Design/Driver assistance, as he was credited for that in Contra Force

    One thing that always kinda bugged me about this box art: Why is there a Triceriton on it? There's none in the game.

    • @Justin-Hill-1987
      @Justin-Hill-1987 Před 4 lety +3

      My guess was it was recycled from a comic book cover, much like the cover for the first Turtles game for the NES...

    • @markkoetsier6475
      @markkoetsier6475 Před 4 lety +3

      @@Justin-Hill-1987 Ackchyually, I've been told that this time it _was_ a bespoke cover they'd commissioned Michael Dooney for. Except they forgot to tell him anything more than "Manhattan floats and the game has a ton of bad guys", so he just went ham and ended up with 1000 Foot soldiers, mousers and a triceraton.
      And Casey Jones is also there, chilling in the back (mostly cut off, I suspect the original piece was a little wider than NES box format). So that's two characters who never show up.
      I would've personally just done Foot clan + Shredder to be on the safe side, lol.
