90%? I think not. Just because you don’t see ppl using their full size truck doesn’t mean they aren’t. Unless you follow them around 24/7 you wouldn’t know. No way I want my family of 5 cramped I’m that little truck. My F150 is a truck that also can do 0-60 in sun 5 secs.
I agree with this, I just sold my Supercharged 2016 gmc sierra and got one of these. Honestly, it's perfect and I really don't miss my old truck.
This truck is perfect for anyone who wants to spend cheap and doesn’t want a full on truck. Ford will score big on this

@@YuhNinja Exactly! Shouldn't have to be blowing all of your check on fuel! our 2500HD Duramax fills up with $150 in diesel and our Raptor is filling up with $140.
Meanwhile, this Maverick will fill up with 1/3 of that and probably get more range

2022Maverick owner here! everything he says is very accurate. I have had my Area 51 XLT for two months now and it is a great little truck! Drives like a regular SUV and not so bouncy :)

95% of people who own trucks don’t actually use them for their intended purposes (towing, hauling, off-roading etc…) this is, in my opinion, the perfect truck for the average person who has never bought a truck before. Awesome mpg, more than enough storage, compact size. I think this truck will be a hit

Yes, people use full size 70k trucks to mostly haul...themselves.
I work with someone who owns an $75,000 Ford pickup and when his wife wants pumpkins and corn stalks for Halloween or a Christmas tree....my coworker rents a truck because nothing goes in the bed of his truck. Weird.
Hell, I know two people who bought dually trucks and they barely ever haul anything. Like I get enjoying trucks but man, if you spend that much on one, you might as well actually earn the money back.

This is definitely the perfect ‘I don’t want a truck but I need some space to carry things around’ truck.

If you're not in a hurry: "According to Ford Authority, order books for the 2023 Ford Maverick will open on August 16th, 2022. Production of the 2023 Ford Maverick will then start at the Ford Hermosillo Assembly Plant on October 24th, 2022, though this date could change depending on supply issues."
You might be able to still get an Ecoboost. Hybrids are sold out for 2022.

It’s a brilliant vehicle. It really is Ford’s cruise missile at the small car market of Honda-and Toyota . Same price and mpgs but you can throw 1500lbs in the bed.

If I needed a small truck, this would be it. Basic, small, efficient and value-priced. Ford's got a winner with this one.
David, had a good buddy who owned a Maverick Grabber. Hood scoop, side pipes with a 3sp/302. Aww, to have some of our old rides back would be sweet.
Love the steelies. Sometimes base and mid models are the best way to go.

Yup they are sold out of the eco and hybrid for 2022! Crazy
The hybrid is a ECVT using a planetary gear system meaning no belts simpler gearing, not to be confused with a traditional CVT.
This XL added the spray in bedliner & CoPilot 360 package since it has the optional rear window and no physical blindspot mirrors. The base XLT has a bare bed, no rear window & blindspot mirrors.
You didn’t talk about the QR code in the bed and under the rear seat storage for their Smart Bed configuration videos to customize your bed setup & FITS system aka Aladdin coin holder.
The tow capacity is 2K for both engines, however the Ecoboost can be upgraded to 4K towing with the tow & AWD options. Between the Ecoboost cost and those options, that adds 4-5K to the price.
The cubby behind the stack screen has a spot to the right for mounting a suction cup phone holder.
Thanks for the video Joe. A very basic small truck. Perfect for someone who wants the utility of a truck but is looking for something smaller, especially in the city. Actually, it’s refreshing to see an affordable utility vehicle these days.
Great work, you and Lori are great team!!! I would definitely choose this ride over the competition! I love the low slung look making it look much more appealing too. I want one after owning a small ranger splash and nissan hardbody and frontier. But, I am now one of the few proud owners of 21 bronco sport so maybe next time lol.
That 40mpg is what I like most and then the truck aspects help in a lot of situations
The ranger left the market in 2011-2012. However in overseas markets, it was still a vehicle. Then brought back to America in 2019, in a different form.

I looked at a Maverick, but the dealer in Orange upped the price by $15,000. So I tried out a Santa Cruz and loved it. Much nicer inside and a great ride.

If i had a kid that was in highschool. This would be something id buy him. Safe truck. Brand new, still cool enough to wow his friends. Has everything that you would need and is reasonably priced. Cool!!

Yes every truck needs a hitch receiver. It's a $100 option Ford should have made std.
As another popular car review channel said, these vehicles are in different classes, and target a different audience. The price reflects that also.

Fun fact... Maverick was not only a Ford car model in the 70s but a western television series in the late 50s early 70s starring James Garner.
How about another, Durango was a car based Ford Pickup before it was a Dodge SUV.

That is probably the only vehicle I have ever seen that looks good with bare bone steel wheels. I couldn't do it for myself but still looks cute, a little rugged-ish.

Without the chip shortage, this Maverick would have beaten the Mustang's first year sales record.
I love that I can get the 2.0L Ecoboost in the XL, and it is available without AWD being mandatory.
Ford has lost a couple sales to me over the years because they force customers to take AWD when all we want is the better torque engine. Good tires are way better than AWD in bad weather anyway, at far less cost.

Like the steel wheel look. You don't see that often. And it does look like a truck (even though it's unibody and FWD based), unlike the santa cruz or the 1st gen honda ridgeline.

Nice! What kind of gas mileage are you getting on that? Mpg & range.
@@mr_drdave_6265 I'm averaging 39.8, 85% hwy and 547 plus range. I usually have 25 to 30 miles left to E when I fill up. I've had it as high as 587 range. The EPA numbers are very conservative as I exceed the combined rating every week without any effort. It's very fuel efficient and excellent in stop & go traffic. The eCVT is smooth no jerking, grinding or weird actions/sounds. The transition from gas to electric in most cases isn't even noticeable. When you stomp on the peddle it takes off, very quick, zero lag...passing and merging are effortless like any modern gas only vehicle. It's a pleasure to drive. Honestly, if I didn't tell my passengers it was a Hybrid you'd never know by the performance and I say, that's a good thing. I never owned, or rode in a hybrid previously and had reservations buying a new model, sight unseen & a hybrid at that. I didn't know what to expect and told my dealer I was gonna force myself to love it..we'll, no force needed, the truck sold itself! Last week I drove a loaner for a day while my SIBL was being installed at the dealer. Gas only, my observation. I do not miss the transmission jumping around trying to find a gear. I do not miss stop & go traffic with a traditional transmission never in the right gear. I do not miss hard shifting and the jerky actions of a traditional transmission. I do not miss starting out in a higher gear amd the engine lag because of it. My truck, is so smooth and quite, does exactly what I ask it to do & puts a smile on my face everyday

fun truck, good price. base models are cool... like Drakkar & members only jackets. digging the old school steelie rims. looks freshly painted (lol), not like the "chrome" spray paint in a can from k-mart we used to use and get over-spray on the tires that wouldn't come off, stuff stuck like glue!
