Oh, hi there! Thanks for the comments, everyone. Want to be clear, since the B-roll combine with my narrative may be misleading: The M-Series Elevate has rotating speakers inside - dual drivers on each side. I think the P-Series elevates better Atmos performance is aided by up-firing drivers on the surround speakers. Also worth mounting out this soundbar has a wider soundstage for non-Atmos content then the less expensive M-series, though I still think that product is a stellar deal overall.
Are you speaking about the 1-3 year old Elevate or is there a new P series Elevate?
@@DC-bn8px Its the one released on Feb. 2021 and it is technically part of Vizio’s P-Series. No updated model yet.
When you say "Also worth mounting out this soundbar has a wider soundstage for non-Atmos content then the less expensive M-series, though I still think that product is a stellar deal overall." are you talking about this M512e-K6 vs M512a-H6? Which would you recommend to be perfectly honest? Right now, the M512e-K6 is on sale for 499 while the M512a-H6 is on sale for 349. Is the extra 150 worth it?
Can you get atmos using optical cable?
@@scottlakin6685big no.... Only stereo when using optical cable
This is awesome! Been debating which soundbar I’m getting next. Love the videos Caleb & DT!
I got this soundbar a few months ago and I must say it's the best soundbar out there for the price. Great quality sound especially when watching movies in Dolby Atmos. Thumbs up for Vizio.
Love your reviews, i only watch the reveiews that you do on this channel, love how you do it
Can’t thank you enough for this video! So detailed, informative, and honest. Watched this video multiple times over a long period. Ultimately I went with the 5.1.2 and am extremely happy. It’s the type of sound I’ve been looking for so long. Got a decent deal on this version. While the flagship may be that much better than this one, my small NY apartment probably would not allow it the “breath” for lack of a better term. And the cheaper recommendation may have its one ups over the 5.1.2, it doesn’t look all that great…I know, I’m shallow, but I’ll own that haha! Thanks again for this exceptionally helpful video, and happy new year!!!🎉🎉
Just ordered mine ..I'm excited to hear it.
Very good video. I purchased this unit over the weekend and have been very happy so far. I viewed an atmos movie but the LED sides did not open, perhaps it is my HDMI cable. Prior to the purchase, I had a Vizio system that I bought in 2014 and was very happy with that as well, just needed to upgrade to HDMI (arc). As to the price, paid $499 at Best Buy and it is well worth the money.
I literally dont buy a TV or soundbar system without your opinion thank you so much for what you do!!
Great review as always!! Thanks so much
My next AV upgrade will be soundbar related. Always look forward to your reviews and insights, Caleb! Thank you!
if you have the budget and space go big. or else you might get disappointed with the outcome. happy hunting.
Thanks for review. I have the cheaper m series with atmos and was wondering if it made sense to upgrade and you directly answer the question in the video. Appreciate it!!
gr8 videos ....hooked on the Edge of my chair waiting for the next video
Thank you for making this video.
Vizio has dialed their M series line in so perfect, ordinary is no longer simple. I LOVE their speaker systems.
I bought the elevate and holly crap it sounds amazing. I upgraded from a several year old 5.1 Vizio sound bar to this one and wow! It sounds so much better!
Thanks for the review
No problem 👍
got the m512a-h6 in large part due to your review and it's been amazing! Had concerns about longevity with their reputation as a budget brand but it's been solid! (knock on wood) Thanks for the great info!
It's Vizio. What year are we in? It's not a bad brand.
budget brand? are we talking about the same vizio
@@playerroku4412 considering my concerns came from people who literally already owned the model and returned it due to reliability issues....yes I am. It's 2022, you're welcome
@@louisduffelbagfilledwozempic if vizio isn't a budget tv brand then...I don't know what is...
@@playerroku4412 Vizio is becoming well-known for not standing behind their products when things break. You have to be cautious with buying their products because you often have to get a replacement unit since they often break within the warranty period. This has been happening for a few years now. Their firmware is very buggy in most of their products and they don’t release updates often. When they do, it is usually 2 steps forward and 1 step back.
Hi Caleb. A big fan of your reviews :D
I was wondering if you'd be reviewing Samsung HW-Q990B. A lot of people are wanting for it to be reviewed so it would be super wonderful if you do it. Cherry on the cake, if we also get some calibration settings and tips ;)
Thanks for this review. I’m happy I went with the M512a-h6
I think that’s the best model from what I read . I’ve had an older vizio Dolby atmos soundbar, nothing but problems
Same. I've had mine for several months now and couldn't be happier. Caleb's review of the M512a-h6 is what sold me on it. I upgraded from a 5 year old Yamaha 2.1 Sound bar and what a HUGE difference!
Got an open box model Jan 2023 for $450. This thing has been absolutely incredible for the price. It replaced a $600 Samsung 5.1 system and this Vizio blew it away. The height channels dont give you that "omg its above me" feeling but they really help to fill the area with sound. I can never pinpoint the audio back to the soundbar, it gives off a wall of sound feeling. I wish the sub went at the front for aesthetic reasons but its nice to not have to use another power outlet to run the rear speakers. Really apperciate the HDMI input, too, since my TV only has 3 inputs
I have the earlier one and I love my Vizio m512a-H6. It fits my life style and house. I get some great sound out if for the price. I do like the one you are reviewing but I didn’t want to break the bank with my tin ear.
Got that for $250 cuz BB messed up
Something on my end.
@@DC-bn8px wow, that's a sweet deal.
I have this Sound Bar System and this sounds so much better than the M512a-h6 in my honest opinion. You can hear dialogue/voice without having to use Dialogue enhancer and every other sound is more blend and more balance
Yet it is 5.1.2 not .4
I have the M512a-h6 and it doesn’t have a problem with dialogue even with the dialogue enhancer completely off. You definitely got a bad unit. I had a similar problem with my first unit and I got a replacement unit that works well.
@@garrettw99 I guess they could try resetting?
Just bought it!
I only use a sound bar because most TV speakers are not good enough. I don't really expect much from a sound bar other than to improve the sound I get from my TV's.
I had the high end elevate, but had to return it. I was having an issue with quite scenes being too quite and loud scenes too loud. And yes I had night mode on.
I currently have the sb36512 with 3 of my tvs which I bought a couple years ago for really cheap. They are amazing, but I wish the surround sound speakers were better.
I also bought the non elevate m series about a year ago as an upgrade for one of my TV’s, but never opened the box and ended up selling it.
I’m so saddened by the fact that these systems may still suffer from the intermittent disconnect issue for about 10 secs or so…. I currently own a Vizio SB that somehow manages to disconnect at the most critical times of whatever I’m whatching….😢
I’ll be honest, I was always skeptical of Vizio even though I know they’ve made some high quality product with regards to sound or picture, but I always wondered about the build quality. I finally pulled the trigger on a Vizio sound bar several years ago for my a second tv that doesn’t get a lot of use. The sound bar completely crapped the bed roughly 2 years later…
Needless to say, I’ll stick with my brands like LG & Samsung for TVs, Sony & JBL for audio, and Panasonic for Blu-ray players etc. just as a few examples.. haha I know I’m just one story, but as the saying goes you often get what you pay for!
I also bought vizio soundbar with Dolby atmos and four up firing speakers, the first one I bought I had to send back because of sound problems, they sent me a new one that I still own but has the same problems ( how can that be ), looking for Sonos or bose for my next set up
I had the Elevate and it honestly sounded amazing. What it killed it for me was all of the anoying bugs. The bar had so many issues that it made me to completely lost interest in the brand. It's a shame because you see the potential in their products, but they fail in the quality of the finished product.
I bought two JBL sound bars, $500 each. Both are the same model with the same subwoofer problems. I guess I got what I paid for.
Samsung owns JBL apparently , hmm so yeah
Amen to that, vizio bars are cheaper for a reason. My next set up will be Sonos or Bose, companies that only build speakers
🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 For your existence.. Have a 65in lg g1 what soundbar do you recommend?
You actually got me to sub 😂😂
Thanks Caleb, I think i have watched this video like 10 times! Will anyone ever review the Samsung Q750C wireless Soundbar? Asking for a friend
I had the M512-H6. Crapped out on my after like 4 months or so. Thinking about upgrading to the more expensive elevate but not that I see this; idk which one to get. Either this elevate or spend a hundred more for the other elevate
I'm using a Yamaha Yas 207 sound bar and sub woofer, my question is does Yamaha sell rear speakers for this model so I can get a fuller Atmos surround effect?
Hi there I really enjoy your channel I’m really interested in the Vizio elevate but live in Scotland And can’t seem to find anyone who stocks this Brand Do you know if they have any plans to sell there products in the products Thanks 🙏🏻
Suggestions for wireless soundbar(s)? We have a 120” pull-down screen and laser projector system and have a couple of JBL speakers… Would love to attaché a soundbar to the bottom of the screen. (Apple TV BTW)
Any recommendations for an Atmos sound bar that does not have satellite speakers? The set up of my room doesn't allow rear speakers.
During Sennheiser Momentum 4 review you mentioned review of another even better headphones in near future. When will that be ? :)
The Focal Bathys! I have them and just need to figure out how to squeeze them in.
Well done
waiting for the mqx review with the soundbar
Is the P Series elevate that much better than the M. 799 vs. 529. Not much of a price difference. But the M series seems newer and P is pushing 3 years old at this point
Is this worth the upgrade over the M51ax-j6?
Need more detail... I could have asked a BestBuy associate about the soundbar and would have gotten more information.
That's a good best buy. The ones here in Jersey & NY just straight up read the tag. I agree though, could have just a bit more details on this one
Does it come in white? Man I am tired of black soundbars catching dust
What tv stand is shown in the video please? It appears you”mount” the bar on top of it perfectly. I want to purchase this soundbar but my 55” Sony X90J’s legs don’t have enough space for this soundbar so I’m looking to get a tv stand to replace the legs
would you go this Vizio over the sonos beam 2 or bose 600?
I just bought the new 2022 elevate but I’m considering returning and getting the 2020 elevate due to the fact that the 2020 version has a 8’ subwoofer and the 2022 one only has a 6’
Also the 2020 version has has up firing speakers in the 2 rear surround speakers where as the 2022 version only has forward firing in the 2 rears. I like the look of the new version better but I may return cause it seems the 2020 version is still a better pick
Hi. Can this soundbar be set up as a 3.1 sound system with or without the surround speakers? Thanks.
Did you try any programs on GRIT-TV? Was wondering those older movies that were before Dolby was even conceived, sound.
Also is E-ARC better that the optic option? My sound bar is wireless. My SO doesn't care for the sub, scared her when the shotgun was discharged in some western, many moons ago.
Love these reviews.
"E-ARC better that the optic option?" Nube allert!
You need to get your partner hi-fi ear plugs so you can enjoy your movie experience at a level you like. She'll thank you.
Existence validated
Thank you! I feel better already.
M series elevate or bose 600? Which should I go with?
The sub is the main thing stopping my from buying this system. I wish the form factor was like the M512a-H6.
I had the elevate, the app was buggy, earc was buggy and rarely ever worked. Sound surround speakers were quiet, even when cranked up.
However, the Atmos upfiring speakers did sound great!
i had their 5.1.4 atmost system that they around 2020 it was great but the app sucked and would almost never connect. and i had issues with ARC all the time. when i used a 4k player for movies it was great when i used streaming apps for regular dolby i had issues. i wouldnt hear background noise or music much during scenes i knew had it. i would would need to change system to stereo and it would world better but as 2.1 channel so i to reset it so much to get it to work right. i just sold it and went with samsungs q950a. hope vizio improves and i might come back to them.
I get all of you. I had the Elevate as well. I really wanted to liked that soundbar, because it looked cool and the sound that came out of it was truly impressive, but it had way too many issues.
Weird, I still have the Elevate that I bought in 2020. The app was generally fixed with updates. Otherwise the bar has been solid.
@@theman4770 the app was buggy but it didn't bother me that much. What It most bothered me was the 3 second audio drops it had whenever the source had a silence. This happened with everything that uses PCM audio (CZcams, Spotify, the Nintendo Switch, ext). Everything with Dolby audio worked alright, but for the things that didn't support Dolby it had this annoying issue.
@@luisarsuaga7637 what type of issues?
Do they still have that loud pop when switching sources?
Is the VIZIO M-Series Elevate 100% Good For Listening To Music With Bass and Hearing the Singers/Rappers Voice with it 100% Clear and Nice sound
Would a universal surround speaker stand work for the surrounds?
I have a Vizio Soundbar that's about 10 years old and still going strong. I think it's time to upgrade. It's been holding up after being dropped many times by my toddler.
I've had my 5.1 for 12 years. A power surge blew a capacitor but I found a CZcams video and replaced it, but now my subwoofer is cutting out. I think it's time to upgrade!
Anyone know how to change the color on the sound bar height bump outs? I cannot figure it out
I was at the best buy counter on Black Friday they had the M h6 for $349. While they were getting it I saw the elevate on sale for $500 last minute upgrade and couldn’t be happier. For $150 definitely a no brainer. I also got the 4yr insurance because they honor it. Had my oled screen replaced and still have years left on my plan. Well worth it
How do you still feel about it?
@@Infinitegamer45 no regrets. I would only buy it on sale. I’ll always have surround sound from now on. If you have the cash I would go for Samsung 990b on sale. Might as well go all the way if you can. I also check rtings and people’s personal experiences on here. I appreciate the aesthetics being round and not blocky in the elevate. If you can wait a while CES 2023 should be very revealing.
So for $399 do get the M512a-H6 or the M512E-K6 ?
@@sont77 H6 and if there's a sale on the elevate get that. Look out for valentines day weekend. Best Buy might be your valentines.

Can it work well with vaulted ceilings?
Hi, does anyone know how to make the input light (im using earc so puple) stay on all the time rather than 5 seconds? i am sure i did this when i set it up but had to hard reset as it lost connection to my visio tv for some reason... i know haw to keep power light on just need help keeping the input light on on the sound bar?
Does the atmos speakers in the M512A-H6 do a better job with the upward sound then the new M512E-K6? Seems like the atmos speaker are larger in the M512A-H6 which would result in better sound.
Hey buddy what was the answer I’m torn not sure which to buy ?
Would you get the m elevate for (599) over h6 for (450) considering only $150 difference?
What did u get both are on sale
m512e-k6 vs m512a-h6 I’m so torn ??
Can someone explain the elevate speakers. On the remote what is the difference between UP, WIDE, AND AUTO. I understand it's ceiling height but that's kinda vague
Up means speakers stay up no matter the content, while wide is the opposite, where the speakers stay down. Auto will switch depending on the content, so Atmos and DTS: X, the speakers will rise, while normal 5.1 and stereo content will stay down.
If I have to chose only from H6 or K6 and money isn’t the problem then which one should I get ? My only focus area is to hear best sound quality/ Atmos experience.
Same question!!
What did u get?
Hey Which one did you get it? Any recommendations between these two?
@@Thomas-uj3lv got the K6 and I am in love , its just a perfect sound system but the atmos effect is not wow , but in my inexperienced opinion Id say this might be so close to as good as it gets without actually mounting upper speakers for a true atmos effect...

I think that’s the best model so far if u want a vizio
Whats the difference between dolby atmos mode and firing the elevated speakers up manually? Im debating having them pointed up indefinitely
Did you get an answer on this? The default is set to auto, but I can never have them pop out. I’m tempted to leave them out indefinitely just like you suggested.

This Elevate M512e-K6 is on sale now for $499 (same price as the M512a-H6). Assuming if both the same price, this Elevate would be the better option? Style aside, if it's normally $200-300 more, I'd think the sound quality, surrounds and sub should be a slight upgrade from the M512a-h6 as well? (I was eyeing the M512a-H6 but for same price, the Elevate seems like better bang for buck?). Thanks
Had the same question and same thought process as you. Didn't overcomplicate it - went with the newer tech and higher-end model.
I bought this on sale this week. Just put it back in the box to return. When it works, it sounds good, but I’ve had to consistently power cycle the soundbar because it gets stuck in high volume setting and can’t be turned down.
@@davidotto3132 wow, that hasn’t been my experience so far since owning it. that must be frustrating!
I ended up getting the M512a-H6 to try out and love it! The "always up" firing speakers add height and clear dialogue to all non-atmos content. The surrounds are very good and the sub is pretty strong for the small size. Definitely happy! I also ended up getting the Elevate P514-H6 on sale for 699 for the movie room. Wow, incredible!! Crystal clear, loud and the sub shakes the house (almost too much bass). Extremely pleased with both Vizio soundbars so far. And glad I didn't spend 2-3x as much for the Sonos Arc and Beam2 with subs and surrounds.
All these series confuse me like what’s their best soundbar ?
having wired rear speakers is a no go for me Samsung and Sony have great wireless options hope Vizio comes out with them soon
They do have wireless options...for example their flagship elevate is
Sooo.. this or Qsymphony with a samsung soundbar?
The problem with the highest end Vizio Elevate 5.1.4, is that the soundbar is not as tall. Smaller drivers will produce less full sound/midrange. I'm not quite sure why everyone keeps focusing so heavily on the Atmos portion of the speakers but not the frequency response. Per RTINGS, yes the subwoofer is beefier on the 5.1.4, but the H6 has less dips in the 200-350hz region. That can drastically change a male voice in movies from sounding empty to full.
The H6 is better than the highend elevate in terms of atmos?
This vs the JBL 9.1?
Sorry Dude, I didn’t know you needed ME‼️ Just discovered u when I wanted a dialogue bar for10yo Panasonic plasma, yes I’m embarrassed .
I got the sound bar because it was on sale and I love it for the most part but there are a few issues. It is not detecting the Dolby signal when I use a streaming service such as Netflix, even when the show I'm watching has Dolby atmos. It also doesn't do the surround sound when I'm using an app such as apple music or Amazon music. Am I doing something wrong. I have a Sony Bravia TV and I'm using an Xbox series x sometimes. Upfiring works best for ceilings that are flat and are anywhere between 7.5 to 12 feet high.
@@mrchiledonut so I guess the question then becomes do I have the option to not upfire?
@@opiatesmile You can still use it even if you don't have an ideal room and get something out of it, but it probably won't sound the best. On systems that have upfiring, you can and should set it to direct and use settings that aren't Atmos, if that's what you want to get sound just from the bed speakers. That said, at that point, I don't recommend an Atmos system if you don't plan on using it.
@@mrchiledonut well I bought this system and my ceiling is 11.5 feet and I would like to use the feature. Will it still work?
@@opiatesmile Oh, yeah. It should, but honestly, I can't say because the effect is entirely dependent on speaker arrangement, and what's in your room. If you bought it, try it out and if you're not happy with it, try rearranging things to get speakers in the right place. Ultimately though, you may not end up happy with it, but in an ideal setup, which not everyone has, it should be effective enough. Lastly (and I feel I should have mentioned this first), I also don't know how well 5.1.2 works and I don't necessarily recommend it. I recommend getting 4 up firing.

Bad customer service and quality control isn't something that's exclusive to the Vizio brand. Try messing around with TCL or Hisense, and then talk to me about poor quality control and customer service support.
