Thank you!! My grandpa (rest in peace) was WAR's percussionist, Papa Dee!
Holy smokes. Your Grandpa left an enormous legacy. What a talent, may he rest in power!
Wow that's awesome. Bless him and bless you
Dude, that's awesome 👍 I just bought a War double album set on Gold Vinyl Pressing!! I remember when these songs were new!! 70tys was GROOVY TIMES
VERY Kool!!! 🪘👌🏽
me and my sisters used to watch the bass player's 1 year old son
The video showing Eric & the group War is also worth a review.
Definitely need to watch the video version! Eric almost as high as Trump Jr was the other night on the RNC.
Yes! The live version is awesome!
Hard to believe Eric Burdon is almost 80 years old!!
Saw him live 5 or 6 years ago. His voice is still as good.
The flute is alive!
This is the short version, there is a longer one, with at least one more verse!
The live version is much longer with different words,sentences....etc. Better all around, even the sound !
Also check out their cover of.........
Tobacco Road ! WOW ✌😎
Just as good if not better the Edgar & Johnny Winters cover
Although Edgar is a beast in that live performance 🎷😎🎹
Two covers of Tobacco Road that will have you playing them over & over the rest of the night !
@@bigbow62 which live version are u talkin' about dude?
"Lowrider", "Cisco Kid", "The World Is A Ghetto"
Absolutely, every one of those.
Slippin into Darkness
Lowrider 👍
Awww shoot! How could I forget Lowrider???
Awesome suggestions.
Eric Burdon did more than just this song with WAR...
Wait to see them live, no it is not an all black band Jay
Good stuff right jay
But not as a HIT
Love their cover of......
Tabacco Road ( live ) ✌😎
@@janewhite5033 They were all black except the harmonica player Lee Oskar.
Eric Burdon had a good description of himself...an "overfed, long haired, leaping gnome" haha
Not just a gnome but one that leaps! 😁
over-faired, long haired, leaping gnome. (white)
Gnome 😂
watch the live version so you can see them playing all the instruments and how they dressed lol
I raided my little savings and bought this song on a 45rpm record at 9 years old, in 1970, from Fred Meyer's store basement. It was the first (of many) records that I ever bought. I still have it somewhere...
I had a boyfriend back in the ‘80’s. He was born in Yorkshire (Middlesbrough). He told me one of his earliest memories was sitting on his uncle’s shoulders and watching Eric Burdon play in some tiny club in the early ‘60’s. What a lovely memory. 💖💖😎
Now do "Lowrider" by WAR
definitely Lowrider
Hell yeah
And Cisco kid!!
A big... field of tall grassssssssssss.
"Grass". ;)
Rebecca Maracle Oh yeah! Stoned with a bunch of friends debating the “real meaning” of these lyrics. Good times!
😁🌲
It's always so much fun to see someone hear "Spill the Wine" for the first time...I remember falling in Love with it my first time!
Oh, hell yeah.!!! LOVING THIS ONE! Nice choice!!! 👍👍😎
Excellent!!!!!
Great tune! So catchy! Have not heard this in years! Love!
This is a cool breeze on a hot day, very pleasant indeed.
Another fantastic song from the 70s
"Lowrider", "Cisco Kid", "Summer", "Why Can't We be Friends"
Awesome suggestions.
Crazy song back in the day!
This is the Jam!!!! Eric Burton from the Animals found this group War and Launch them off. the group became a Hit sensation!!!! Love this song!!! Really it is a Hip-Hop Rap song!!!
Your enthusiasm for good music is downright infectious! Love it.
Dude.... I was 12 years old and absolutely loved this song........................ I love the groove........
It takes you right into the dream. This was one of my all time early super favorites. Another one was Grand Funks I`n your captain.
Eric Burton , what a singer 😀😀😀😀
Live version is longer, more fun and better! You can watch it on your own if you don’t want to react to it...have fun! 🔥🎶🤘🏼🤗
Kathy here - just now came across this review you did 3 years ago! What a blast from my past! I am almost 69 years old, and this was the "rage" back in my day! Part of the Hippie movement! LOL Also, your smile is so infectious! Thanks for the review and the memories!
I ain't heard this in a minute. The percussion tho!
kj robbi Sooo groovy!!! 😎👍💖
Long haired leaping gnome....
Does anybody remember David Soul, from old Starsky & Hutch fame? He had a song called "Don't Give Up On Us Baby".
Of COURSE!!😍☺Starsky & Hutch was a 7th grade MUST! Saw him on American Bandstand perform that song!😅
" Silver Lady, Going in with my Eyes Open " were his other hits.
@@gigantor62 OMG! I'm gonna have to hit the archives on those...I had no idea 👍
That was actually a great tune. Love it.
This is a joke post.... right !
I put Eddie Murphy & David Soul on the same level as far as their singing careers ? go !
......but hey if you like it more power 2 U ( BTW: How's the golf game coming 😉 )
Black Mans Burdon and Eric Buron declares War - both on vinyl in my collection . good music
Loved Eric Burden with The Animals and all the stuff with War. Groovy!!!
“All Day Music” and “Me and Baby Brother” are 2 of my favorite War songs.👍🏽
War combines African music with Brazilian music because the band had African American and Latin American musicians and singers....check out "Cisco Kid" "Low Rider" " We Can't We be Friends" And also check out the "Live " version of "Spill The Wine" by Eric Burton & War.
This is a great song
If you want to hear a slice of psychedelic soul react to 'Time Has Come Today' by The Chambers Brothers.
I remember listening to this song in my room ... and my Dad pounding on the door asking me "what the HELL are you listening to?" LOL
I have their CD in my car ... might have to go for a ride! :-)
I've been listening to this damn song since I was a kid. I LOVE this song 😍
The first time I heard this song I must of been about 10 years old. My parents along with friends and their families went camping. There at the lodge was a wood deck under the trees and a jukebox. We kids from 6 to 12 years old sat on the deck watching our parents dance to this song during a summer afternoon in 1970. When I hear this song I always think of my parents dancing while camping.
This song makes you feel the 70tys vibe!!!!
One of the greatest songs when I was in high school. Yeah, we all sang this as it played on our transistor radios. We grooved, we dreamed, we wanted the girls...
I enjoyed that. I forgot this song existed. Brought back that mellow day dream vibe of the 70s. Loved it
Love Eric, love the animals, love war
"Why Can't We Be Friends?" was also big hit for War back in the day. Wikipedia says Jimi Hendrix played a set with Eric Burdon & War in London back in 1970. It was his last public performance. He passed away the very next day. RIP.
I'd loved to have seen that show!
That's called "call and response." 🥰
Thank you !!! Wanted you to play this FOREVER. This was the best Summer song , when it came out.
I’d forgotten how trippin’ this song is! Thanks for another great reaction!
Eric Burdon contributed to the music in the late 60s early 70s. They had a very distinctive sound.
Man i love this song lol. Such a fun listen every time. The funky sound and story telling by eric
The spoken word set to music, nice analogy. You put yourself under pressure with that reference and came through! : )
I just went to another level of excitement when you mentioned War.
They have morphed throughout the years, but their signature sound
is incredible. Tons of good stuff! 🎵
A prime example of, "They don't make music like this anymore."
❤❤❤❤❤
Good band 👍 Shout out Eric. Burden ✨
Great performer. Lee Oscar on Flute. Epic.
Oh, my! We all would sing this as soulfully as we could 😝
Blows my mind when I hear you doing these songs! Such childhood memories I have!!. Thank you so much!!!!.
Love me some Eric Burden!!
This song is Uber Cool!!!! Way to go Jayvee!
I love War! They have a lot of great songs!
Michael Hutchence, leader of INXS, made a cover that was known 22 years after his death ...
You're the 2nd person to say this, ive NEVER heard it!!!
❤️
Jayvee I think you got a little boho in ya😁 ✌
Great song!! Singers voice is unique....
These guys had some other good songs - try Lowrider. Also Eric Burdon with the Animals had many awesome hits you could cover.
Songs back then were 2/12vto 3 1/2 minutes long and it always makes you want to hear it more. Plus you were lucky if you would get to hear it once or twice a week on the radio.
I like watching you get your groovy vibe on!😁
Eric was lead singer of The Animals
That's why your diggin' the song
These cats are fly. Like the groovy soul funky wipe. Got to check them out. Thanks, J. 🌷
Far out man 😀
Back in the day you could go to Griffith park in LA and all of a sudden end up at a War jam session
I seem to remember Aunt Viv and Uncle Phil singing this in Fresh Prince as they reminisced about their youth!
Need to check out this song; the live video. Seeing makes it much better.
BAD ASS GREAT SONG !!
Epic hippie song!! Iconic ❤️
Love this one great song 💚💙💜💛bohemian vibes😊
War's Why Can't We Be Friends is also a classic (and the original promo video is hilarious).
Used to Dig to this when I was 12 years old...............
Wow! Haven’t heard this one in a long time. Thanks 😊 great memories.
I've seen War 4 or 5 times. They still do this song and it still sounds great.
I think you ought to listen to the live version because it is longer and Eric add other lyrics and you can see the vibe of the song. They did do Paint it Black, Eric and War.
Love to hear "Green Eyed Lady" by a band called Sugarloaf. Very cool jazz feel like this song.
Well, that was groovy 😎, loved it
The flute definitely embellishes the lyrics!
Who else (when hearing this song) can only picture that beautiful woman diving into the pool from Boogie Nights? I was never a huge fan of this song before, but now it evokes that scene...so...I'm good with it!
I haven’t heard this in ages
Love this song as a kid. A real unique vibe. I’m sure you have your War list already, but Low Rider, Why Can’t We Be Friends, and Summer are all very worthy.
War has some other songs you might know,Low Rider, and Cisco Kid,and one for our current climate,Why can't we be Friends.
CLASSIC.....ty! And do not leave the 70's until you play the one hit wonder........Back When My Hair was Short - Gunhill Road...1973.
You heard Eric Burdon when you did The Animals. Amazing voice/
Excellent!
SWEET!!!!!!!
It was all about the acid trip when you heard this song!!! LoL 🌈🕊🆙🕊🌈
Last time I saw Eric he opened with this.
Oh crazy classic
There is a longer version
Yes, it’s great!
Even today, War puts on one of the best live concerts you’ll see!
I'm 61. All my life until a few months ago I though it was "Spill the wine, take that girl". Nope..."take that pearl". That's so specific.
This was an awesome reaction. Thanks Jay. Just love you
jovaughn’s reacting too one hit wonders, be honest, what more do you need guys.
DO THE LIVE VERSION
Watch the live video of this! You'll get goosebumps.
