So I took a much needed break over the summer and decided to record tons of sirens in the meantime. The last time I was in Columbus was six years ago which is crazy hard to believe. My first stop was the 7V8-B in Trafalgar which, when I arrived, mysteriously disappeared. I settled for an ambience instead thinking maybe it got moved but I didn’t hear squat besides the 2001 that’s already there.
My next stop was this Whelen located at Oakbrook Drive on the southwest side of town. Besides the test being a little late, I couldn’t ask for a smoother siren recording. The weather was perfect, the siren sounded awesome, and everything worked. I didn’t even get randomly approached mid-test which tends to happen when I set up at places like these.
With the exception of Edinburgh, sirens in Bartholomew County are tested on the first Friday of the month at 12 noon by the Bartholomew County EOC. It is unknown if their smaller sirens are also tested with the system.
Enjoy, and as always comment, like, and subscribe for more. Thanks!

Agreed
I think you can also hear a distant one at 1:27 still finishing its test. It deactivates at 1:37
Yes a lot of that echo is actually their other 2809s

@SirenTube ok thanks. Ur awesome
I love the ending when the siren shuts off you hear all the others in the background of your drone
Nice shots. I loved seeing all those trees and houses in the background.
ECS Inc. in Bloomington IN is the Whelen Master Distributor who installed and maintains this system. Nice work Brandon!
This was uploaded 2 hours ago? I was late. It was 7:00 AM _(PDT)_ for me and I didn't wake up. Gotta love that HiLo though!

The Siren test goes the weewooweewoo
Wait did the DMTF tone play through the siren drivers? That’s what it sounded like. Why would that happen?
Yes, it played through the siren. Before this test, a DTMF code was sent to the siren that allows for live voice. When this happens, the siren will broadcast anything being transmitted from a certain radio frequency...this includes other siren commands which is what you heard here.
DSRX100 ok. I wonder why they put it in voice mode.
charl just to test and see if it works
DSRX100 ok. Interesting
@@DSRX100 ótimo vídeo, DSRX100

Good sharing!
Wow! This is 4K!
Nice!
0:10 That echo was good!
Does the DTMF sound through the siren so it can be heard from a mile away?
Nice
The quality is so damn good it almost looks cartoon
HIGH-LOW LOL
So from what I have observed… the last 2 digits in the model number indicates the number of modules/cells?
Like, a Wps 2905 has 5 cells, a 2902 has 2 cells, and so on.
Is this it? Or is it just a coincidence
You should film and upload more storm chasing videos they are really entertaining.
Thanks! I'm glad you liked them, I do plan on uploading another. About half of the editing is done...so I hope to make a post in October.
@@DSRX100 You should come to Lexington, KY and go storm chasing when we get another bad storm.
