So I finally got around to filming this awesome Super-Sirex. Recording this has been on my bucket list for years. I've made a few attempts but I always got up too late to get there on time. Its unique 7/10 port ratio is shrill and unmistakably loud and I'm glad I got to hear it in person. Even from the distance I recorded it from, it still packed a punch even when rotated away. The sound dispersion kind of reminds me of an omni. There is some noticeable difference in volume when the siren is rotated towards you, but less so than more modern rotating sirens. I'd equate it to a Thunderbeam.
Either way, I'm glad to have finally heard this in person. Even though there's probably a million videos of it, if you live even a few hours away, it's definitely worth the trip just for the experience alone. I hope this siren continues to stay in service for years to come.
Sirens in Butler County are tested the first Wednesday of the month at 12 Noon. You can find this siren at Hamilton's old city hall nearby the river on High Street.
Enjoy, and as always comment, like, and subscribe for more. Thanks!

I don't care how many videos there are of it, this siren never gets old.
I don’t know, looks pretty old to me
@@Devo57 lol funny jokke
@@Devo57 1951?-1960’s. This is a Model 15.
@@Devo57that thing is older than me
I want to get back here and get another ambiance recording of this and the Thunderbolts. That's something everybody needs to hear.
It's a real miracle that this thing has stayed up for over 50 years. I hope it continues to stay up for many many more.
There’s one that’s been up for 100 years that still roars today. Hope this could be the same deal
This one will still run for a while considering it has a 3 phase motor. Single phase would have died a long time ago.
This is absolutely the best recording of this thing to exist yet. Fantastic job!
I agree
I actually think SuperSirex127 has a better recording of it. Not necessarily the video but it has amazing ambience of like, church bells, horns and a Thunderbolt right before the Sirex kicks off.
@SirenTube yeah. It's a subjective thing
@@andrewwright8772 right here too
but what if you merge the audio with this video >:)

You really picked a good siren to go to. This video is phenomenal.
This siren has a cool sound and it sounds scary to me
My aunt works for emergency management in Ohio, so when I visit hew we always look for sirens. This one, however, will always be my favorite.
WOW! This looks amazing, the shots, the drone, and everything with it. One of the best siren recordings in history! Nice!
In my opinion, one of the scariest sounding sirens in the us
Good to know this beauty is still active!!
The audio is so good! It sounds just like real life!
Really loving your video edit style! Glad they are still keeping this beauty healthy and active! Have a good day!
wow this still lives!!!!!! awesome catch!!
Definitely my favorite recording of it now
You commented Analog UwU on one of my videos
This is next level awesome! Amazing video!!! This is legendary man!
Good to know it is doing well!
Simply amazing!
this is by far the best vid of this ever! stunning!!
Yeah nothing beats that sound. I'd love to come back!
awesome as always
best recording of this.
Holy crap, this is probably the best video of this thing I have ever seen.
Same, wow

I’m speechless Brandon...

It’s so cool to live near this thing! I can’t hear it since I’m in Harrison, but this it’s not a far drive to see this
It Did A Pretty Good Job Making The Amber Alerts Serious
Now that's how it is the close up at the super sirex ❤️
This is my favorite HOR.
Hi!
Very nice video! Glad it went off, I tried to get this siren several years ago but sadly it failed for me. This is a great quality video!
Thanks! My luck is usually not that great either. Usually I'm not as successful lol.
And they didnt replace it? Dang whoever owns it cares
@@doggo3354 They're letting it run until it completely dies.

For those who aren’t familiar with the sound of the siren… it’s a 7/10 dual port.
Sirex look awesome
Sounds crazy
ive always wanted to see this siren
Lovely.
Very Nice!
Gotta love that low Sirex tone
Why does the intake have a big cone around it but not the actual sound outlet?
I like this siren
I like the sound of this siren
Amazing recording, kind of wish you told us lol
My city during WWII and the Cold War had a contract with HOR. We had Siro-Drones during WWII and when the Cold War happened we upgraded to a Super Sirex. It was dismantled when the Cold War ended.
Good old hor sirens love hor's sirens SO much
The sound of it just haunts me to death
OOOOH Thats epic!!!
Live here. Heard this. Kinda scared me.
GOD I LOVE THE UNHOLY SOUND OF THESE BEASTS! Nice to see its still in service! Great video Brandon! I hope to see that one day.
Thanks! It’s definitely worth a trip.
@@DSRX100 No problem!
This is some very crisp content! You should go record the red Sentry in Nineveh!
Yeah it's on my list. I tried it back in 2012, but I got there at the wrong time. It's still worth coming back to.

What about the siro-drone in Lawrenceburg KY?
I love sirex and super sirex
are there more of this type of siren?
That siren sounds like the amber alert siren used in the Texas amber alert system
Great catch, Brandon! I've always wondered, is that actually a projector horn or an air intake?
Intake
Well. That's dissapointing.n
@@UberLukario Ikr, I Always Thought It Was a Projector Horn too!
Kind of a goofy design when you think about it, like why bother making it rotate? Not sure it does much good, just drives up the cost. Has an interesting design though
It is a projector horn. The 7/10 ports you see on the underneath of the housing are most likely the intakes.
I recorded this about a year ago at some point a little after I started making videos, and oh my god it’s bad I recorded it with my iPad and it’s so shaky lel
nice recording!
I live across the river from it.
There is a Thunderbolt 1000T on Clovernook Dr I live next to it
Gotta say, 7/10 is among my favorite port ratios.
Same, I wish more sirens had that port combo
The only fully complete Super Sirex with it’s rotator
This siren runs on an FC Controller. All of Hamilton's sirens have one. All of the controllers have strobe lights on them for some reason.
The Hor sirex no 15 buzzing sound what do we hear
It's an interesting design, like the port ratio but don't know why they bothered making it a rotating siren as the horn appears to be the air intake so little sound comes out of it. Probably would be better if they encased the whole front with a large horn. Seems to be well made to still be in service.
This siren looks like it's been through WW2, Vietnam War, cold War, a pandemic. And survived.
This was installed in 1954
Like the wind-down
Is this siren suppose to have tow horns or that's how it looks like only onw horn

One day imma go to that flawed af siren
Great Siren, we had 2 that turned on a platform like this in Massapequa, NY. They need to take better care of this, desperately needs a paint job!!
What frequency are the activation tones on?
Those DTMF And Fsk
Address?
Sirex No. 15 is simply stunning siren with glorious sound but why always does only alert tone? What about attack or fast wail? Thanks in advance for answering.
Thats because the area it is in doesn't test in attack as far as Im aware. Plus using attack out of nowhere would scare people
This county only tests in alert.
Woww! It's still up there, eh? I remember a couple of other vids of this same Henry O. Ricci rotating Sirex... They were said to be extremely dependable and durable over the years... I assume the building the unit sits on top of is the main public safety building for both the town and the county, probably housing the local police and fire departments, as well as the county sherrif's department...
In the 1920's, it used to be a fire department. Around that time, they made it a city building with police dispatch. So they had police and fire running out of the same building until the 1970's.
In 1954, the HOR was purchased and installed with civil defense funds.
@@Videogamer52100so it is 69 yrs old?
@@PROAbelplaysYT Yes. Pretty durable for an antique if you ask me. They definitely don't build them like that anymore.
@@Videogamer52100 man ima' start a company, and copy this things xDD
that is a very rare siren they where made from 1951 to 1968
Why did it take a few seconds for the chopper to kick in when it first started rotating?
The rotator always starts first. Idk why
The chopper just takes a second or 2 to get up to a volume where you can hear it, you can see the chopper start up when the rotator starts up
This is actually the rarest H.O.R Siren in the US.
Will you do the Hula-HOR siro-drone in Toledo??
I'd love to head up there sometime. While I don't have any immediate plans for it, it's on my list.
I love hor's sirens a lot
If only it carried as good as it sounds...
Oh my God hor super sirex
Sounds like a 7/10 Port
It is
Cool
it could be reverse wired, because it doesnt get louder when it points to the camera and that the sound is coming from the bottom.
It isn't
Is this siren loud??
It'd be awesome if this thing had an attack mode.
Are there any videos of this thing in wail? (A 7:10 port super sirex, doesn’t have to be this one)

TURTLE SIREN TURTLE SIREN TURTLE SIREN
the turtle siren bruhhhhhh yes
The siren was likely shut off this month for repairs as of January 2024 due to malfunctioning.
isnt that a regular sirex with 1 horn? i thought the super sirex had 2 horns
That 7/10 ratio makes for a unique sound...I'd heard it referred to as an "augmented 4th interval"...not sure if that's correct (a "diminished fourth" is more like a major 3rd--or an 8/12 port ratio)...Either way, it'll get your attention, regardless of the nature of the emergency!
It is awesome to see this siren sound again
SEE the siren sound??
That thing is super creepy it has ashes and blood on it that tone is scary to
